- AustinMandi, on 02/15/2008, -4/+84Who cares about the race of these superdelegates? The fact that they are switching to Obama is the real story. Let's not make everything about race.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -6/+65The media always focuses on race.
- Falldog, on 02/15/2008, -1/+23I dunno about you, but I always introduce myself with the title "White Male..."
- Superperson, on 02/15/2008, -1/+17But...but...they're women...
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -5/+20"Where da white women at?"
- wild, on 02/15/2008, -2/+17I have a feeling this is a tipping point. He wins next Tuesday's primary, and you going to start seeing a lot of delegates swapping around.
- Evolutuon, on 02/15/2008, -2/+16Why is sex and race the important issue on this subject? It should be about what they think.
- hearkening, on 02/15/2008, -3/+16Yep. Racism will only truly be defeated once we stop having headlines like, "2 White Women Superdelegates Drop Hillary Clinton" because that will be the point where nobody cares what race the people involved are. To be fair though, the original article is titled, "Exodus of Clinton’s Superdelegates Not About Black and White"... which I guess is better than the digg title.
- LumberingOaf, on 02/15/2008, -3/+11 The thing that really sucks about this election for middle class white guys like myself. We're automatically thrust into the position of being an ***** (as usual).
If we vote for Obama, then we're sexist pigs. If we vote for Clinton, then we're racist bastards.
And don't get me started on John "Get off my lawn!" McCain, except to say I want a president who'll be around for a possible second term, if he or she happens to do a good job.
Go Obama! (Sorry for being a sexist pig.) - leontes, on 02/15/2008, -4/+12Ugh,
Superdelegates? Please wait until we need you before spouting off your mouth like this: It doesn't matter right now who you are supporting; let's hold off until after all the primaries and then you can make some sort of determination on how you wish to vote:
popular vote country wide
popular vote in your state
percentage vote in your district.
Until then, this is awkward, and annoying.
Thanks,
leontes. - inactive, on 02/15/2008, -0/+8Obama's got a new campaign slogan? I kid, I kid.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -1/+6So is sexism.
- RobotBuddha, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4Me too. Sometimes I don't feel like I'm getting the proper privilege I've been told I should expect.
- tdogg241, on 02/15/2008, -0/+4I can agree with some of what you just said, but the fact of the matter is that for many people, their heritage played a large role in shaping who they are. That's something that's never going to go away, and it really shouldn't.
- tdogg241, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4"Hey boys! Look what I got here!"
- ZenMojo, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4Once you go BARACK, you never go back.
- DJPhoenix, on 02/15/2008, -1/+5This is good news for the Obama camp, but I tend to agree that superdelegates publicly pledging their intentions at this point is pretty pointless. This article is a perfect example of how much a "pledge" means at this point. It doesn't count for anything until the votes are cast at the convention in Denver.
- scamper22, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6more proof that women have will betray each other when a man comes into the picture.
especially white women and a black man.
/oh relax...it's a joke. - piouspeter, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3I prefer Saxon-American. or beige.
- MacEnvy, on 02/16/2008, -1/+4Oh, so it's his fault we still don't have the efficient healthcare system the rest of the first world enjoys? That's all the reason I need not to support him.
- Mr.Gone, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Hurray you got the joke :D
- Gemfinder, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Welcome to the club...I'm a traitor to my gender :)
- koko775, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3conscientious americans care.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3How the hell does this not reak of corrupt politics? This is why the system is flawed, you can just buy votes. Yah, they switched because they changed their mind... right...Kiss my ass you bitches. Open you eyes, the wnner will be the biggest corrupt bastards of the bunch. Whoever the hell it is. Superdelegates... what a joke.
- Babazoz, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2What I find ironic and funny about the Dem side is that for all that they like to BAWWWWWWWW about people putting too much emphasis on race and gender.....they're actually the ones doing the most of it, as far as emphasis goes.
- Gemfinder, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2I'll Digg it, but at this point race is entirely beside the point.
- Aesculapius, on 02/15/2008, -2/+4There are Republicans that aren't white?
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -1/+3The supers are grabbing the media exposure right now, but they'll do whatever they please in Denver.
- DavidGX, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2Yeah no *****, that's what I was thinking. "Why do I care if two WHITE WOMEN delegates switched?"
Two delegates of ANY type switching is just fine with me. Bring on more. 08ama! - DavidGX, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3Go republicans! Zombie white guy for president! Woo!
McCain/Braaaaaaains 08 - inactive, on 02/15/2008, -0/+2It's NEVER about what they think.
*says the black woman while she weeps into her ice cream* - hoodster, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1obama is beyond race...look at his family
- senator32, on 02/18/2008, -0/+1See Hillary's sponsored legislation here: http://www.statesurge.com/members/908
- Codee, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1The author of this Digg could have created a better title. This is not the title of the article, albeit tacky as well.
- blzbulb, on 02/15/2008, -7/+8I guess the rumor is true. Once you go Obama, you never go back.
- Gemfinder, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1[laughter] [thumbs up]
- 5urr3al5am, on 02/15/2008, -1/+2..don't forget sexism too.. though... I don't feel thats as important.... /sic on the 2nd part
- runamok, on 02/15/2008, -0/+1Here is how it works: If these super delegates back the losing horse they don't get ***** in return when the other person is elected. THAT is why they are switching. More and more Hilarity is looking to lose. No cushy kick backs if you support the loser.
- gettempapa, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1If you're stuck in Iraq, Obama will bring you back!
- whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -1/+2You racist, sexist, ageist pig bastard!
- RobotBuddha, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1I do agree with the part about the concept not going away any time soon. But I don't get how anyone can consider that a positive. How can anyone take pride in something another person did when there's just a minor genetic link. I'd consider even a grandparent to be distant enough to make pride on the basis of genetic similarity pointless. But when it comes to race, it's so arbitrary a designation that the actual genetic link makes even the weak grandparent one look like two identical twins. More than that though, I really just don't get the whole concept of taking pride in something another person did.
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1No, they dont have superpowers. They just break the 'stalemate' out of the popular vote.
If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to http://www.lobbydelegates.com and convince them to support either Clinton or Obama.
Obama supporters:
Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It's that easy...
Clinton supporters:
It takes a moment, but what's a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?!
Sending a note to current Clinton supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Obama supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Clinton, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Clinton. It's that easy... - ProfessorFoo, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1You just said that because only white men stand a chance to win the republican nomination.
- Codee, on 02/16/2008, -1/+2For over 400 years our country's Achilles Heal has been rooted in the inequity and suppression of our fellow man because of color. WE HAVE MOVED ON! That is definitely history. Tragic, shameful and unfathomable nowadays, the media still likes to access the visceral thinking and emotions that race can provide. Tribalism is real, and is quite a natural characteristic especially when reinforced in a like community. Often, It's just because the like skin tones are familiar and the individual can identify with this common. Evoking an inherent sense of family, but never, ever should should our highest common be forgotten. We are all human. Different characteristics, tones and features tell the story of geographic adaptation. Variety, nothing more. See we all are looking for the same things happiness, opportunity and safety. Race has been a convenient way to manipulate, divide and take advantage of us all. Exploit our simple fears of "different". When there is fundamentally none. I am proud beyond description to be at and in this moment of our nation's history. Most of all, I'm happy we have such a great choice in Barack Obama. This is our greatest moment, this is our time. For incredible experience, leadership, policy, and integrity there is no better candidate than Barack Obama.
- zeiben, on 02/15/2008, -2/+3And the NYT has to back their girl. Endorsements from newspapers are like a doctor rooting for you to get cancer instead of typhoid.
- Darksoul, on 02/16/2008, -2/+3Speaking of MINDLESS DRONES and ***** articles and comments.......
If your going to give us advice why don't you listen to your own words...... - DjC4, on 02/16/2008, -1/+2Can you really blame them after this happened in the debate? If you have time, definitely check out this footage that was never aired of the 2008 South Carolina debate. Obama VS Hillary...Obama gets intense.
