- verge, on 11/05/2007, -12/+326feel safe yet?
- whatthefu, on 11/05/2007, -15/+324If this war doesn't in the long-run contribute to the downfall of the US as the hyperpower, I will be amazed.
- floridiot2, on 10/31/2007, -15/+257George Bush does not care about Americans.
- jfowler27, on 10/26/2007, -6/+1932017? If the current trends continue, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars will be the least of our worries by then.
- stklaw, on 10/27/2007, -1/+1202.4*10^12$
How often do you "need" scientific notation for money? - zathlazip, on 10/27/2007, -9/+116A single day of this war could fund SCHIP for over 200,000 kids.
THANKS, BUSH. - inactive, on 10/26/2007, -1/+92With that money, I could create a utopia city under the pacific ocean. You guys are more than welcome to join me.
- kaintehdragoon, on 10/26/2007, -4/+89I wonder how big that number would be if we went to war with Iran...
- Dan11023, on 10/26/2007, -11/+94I am a republican.......always have been republican............always going to be republican...... I hate this war, I hate this war so much, that I might vote liberal in 08 so we can stop this ***** ***** iraq war.
- Stewartpewart, on 10/29/2007, -11/+77this pisses the ***** out of me ok....
so the 2.4 trillion dollars we have spent and are spending, think of the things we could do....
Converting to other energy/fuelsGiving cheaper healthcaremore jobs
better border control
THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS
So ummmmmm yah
Colbert/Paul 08? - Shorties, on 10/25/2007, -13/+67***** bush started this war on the claim that it was to protect us from terrorists... You know he had one ***** job to protect the constitution, other then that I am fine, he isnt fighting this war for me. Worst part about it is he has ripped apart the constitution instead. Plus the war has created more terrorists and more people in the middle east who hate us.
- johnstar, on 10/27/2007, -3/+54you guys just don't get it if we kill everyone else WE DON'T HAVE TO PAY IT BACK!
problem solved! - duggtodeath, on 10/26/2007, -16/+61We can spend all this money to kill children abroad, but can't spare a penny to help them at hme? Maybe if American children were on the terrorist watchlist, then our government would pay more attention to them.
- crapmatic, on 10/25/2007, -1/+46That's $8000 per citizen. I guess China could just come over and repo everyone's home theater.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -6/+46What a waste. We probably could have put that money toward completely severing our dependency on fossil fuels and converting our energy infrastructure over to renewable power. Maybe we could have implemented a nationwide healthcare program for every United States citizen, too. Or even invested it in research to develop medical cures to some of our worst diseases.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -2/+38Don't say that, you'll give Cheney a raging hardon.
- inactive, on 10/26/2007, -2/+37Has anyone read what caused the fall of the Western Roman Empire, or later the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire (known as Byzantine Empire) or the fall of the Ottoman Empire?
They all spent themselves into debt so deep that they couldn't pay for basic services and couldn't keep up with their adversaries. The expenditures that did them in were almost all military. Finally they got to messing with their currency by changing the alloy of coins, minting lighter coins etc.
It is all very reminiscent of what we are doing, only worse and certainly faster in our case. The Romans and the Ottomans dominated the world for centuries. Our domination won't make it even one century because we have learned to borrow and print paper money.
The dollar is headed down and if nothing changes soon, we are done for just like the Romans.
We need to try to go back to our Republican days, like the Gracchus brothers tried to push Rome back to its tradition of liberty before being assassinated. Let us back Ron Paul, let him be our Tiberius Gracchus, and let us pray that a Blackwater mercenary is not paid to kill him. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -5/+38Raise your hand and make a fist if you voted for this clown in '04 so I can punch you in the throat with it.
- funktimus, on 10/25/2007, -1/+34Ha, at this rate, they'll probably be building that US/Mexico Wall so US citizens don't flee south of the border.
- inactive, on 10/26/2007, -29/+61AllI care about are weed and clicking on RP polls.
- Dralite, on 10/25/2007, -2/+34They must be banking on the world ending in 2012... either way we've been screwed
- Corrosionx, on 10/26/2007, -6/+37Wonder why you can't pay your bills? It's time to take out the garbage...elect Ron Paul 2008 !
- OniSyphon, on 11/04/2007, -4/+33But gas is cheaper...right guys?
- wonderboy, on 10/25/2007, -5/+34If you're a true Republican, vote for Ron Paul in the primary. You can worry about who to vote for after the fact if he doesn't get the nomination.
- thebellmaster1x, on 10/25/2007, -1/+25You're going to punch people with their own fists?
Badass. - OBKenobi, on 10/25/2007, -5/+29That's exactly why we shouldn't drain our resources on policing a civil war. The only reason America is still in Iraq is because the Bush administration and some Democrats do not want to admit that the US made a mistake. Prolonging this mistake will only cause worse things to happen.
We have numerous major disasters looming on the horizon, one of the biggest being Global Warming. WTF are we doing fighting over oil? We need to spend that funding and resources on alternative energy and emergency infrastructure for when (not if, but WHEN) the impending climate change will bring about dozens more Katrinas throughout America, and the world. Ok, I guess you've seen Gore's movie? He's not exaggerating! We're in serious ***** trouble, and Bush (and Clinton, and the Neocons) intend to continue this imperialist path that is weakening America's infrastructure and energy resources instead of strengthening it.
What are you going to do when food and energy prices skyrocket because of climate change? What are you going to do when your city is wiped off the map by a Cat 5+ hurricane? - MutatedNantuko, on 10/26/2007, -4/+27"hyperpower," I like it.
- djphatjive, on 10/25/2007, -4/+24Think they said it was something like $8000 a person for the cost of the war! Nice one Bush!
- Bamborzled, on 10/25/2007, -3/+23$2,400,000,000,000?
And the global warming skeptics said that funding research for alternative energy sources and reducing emissions would cause an economic collapse. You're looking in the wrong place, guys. - Rodman930, on 10/26/2007, -0/+19As long as you bring plenty of Adam, I'm in!
- Firehed, on 10/25/2007, -0/+19I think we'd have the No Child Left iPodless Act of 2008.
- tucsonsun13, on 10/31/2007, -8/+26Another thought.........
The US government ( = you) will be paying premium interest on that 2.4 trillion+, and that looks like it will be at least 700 billion. Over 8 grand/US citizen (excluding illegals, mind you). Premium interest being paid on money that was recklessly borrowed in the first place - gee, remind you of any other careless habit Americans love to f*** around with throughout their lives? Freedom from debt = freedom. - astrofizix, on 10/25/2007, -1/+19It would help if he wasn't still doing it.
- inactive, on 10/25/2007, -2/+20Haha, thats where I would be if this were a game of Risk.
- MutatedNantuko, on 10/25/2007, -3/+21Being a republican is very different from being a conservative war-hawk that created a war because the economy was in a slump.
- scottc, on 10/26/2007, -6/+23The downfall is inevitable because there is no way we can keep China, and possibly India too, from passing us. Population growth alone will eventually make them more powerful. This war is just speeding up the process.
- tucsonsun13, on 10/25/2007, -9/+26Thanks to its disasterous campaign in the MidEast, with Afghanistan crumbling under a reemergence of the Taliban and Iraq burning perhaps hotter than even California, the US will have to start pulling itself back together--and quickly at that--if it wants to remain to be...anything at all...in the future.
Note to self....plan simplistic getaway to Australia just in case....... - KnightWhoSaysNi, on 10/25/2007, -0/+16Oil ain't cheaper either.
- KahNeth, on 10/25/2007, -1/+17She is a bigger war hawk than most Republicans
- coollettuce, on 10/25/2007, -2/+18...for ***** internet.
- nihilite, on 10/25/2007, -2/+18*oil* might be cheaper, but all that means is more profit for the oil companies... Gas is not getting cheaper where i live.
- matude, on 10/25/2007, -1/+16Diggnation!
- inactive, on 10/25/2007, -0/+15Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!
- wisie, on 10/25/2007, -9/+24Australia.. its the place to be
- IMustBeEmo, on 10/25/2007, -0/+15I believe you mean when, not if.
- thugok, on 10/27/2007, -0/+14I think they are pissed because most of the time Ron Paul support is nothing more than unrelated spam. Not that I am saying in this case it is, but after seeing people try to attach Ron Paul support to everything from Eggo Waffles to Aliens you pretty much dismiss it every time you hear it.
- Nougat, on 10/25/2007, -0/+13You won't be wondering for long. Besides, will it really matter after there's been a nuclear holocaust?
- thelatemail, on 10/25/2007, -0/+13"Move under the sea, that's your answer to everything, it's not going to happen!"
- NoPis10, on 10/25/2007, -6/+19No they aren't. They don't want to return this corrupt state around to it's intended form. Corruption and too much dependency on the federal government has ruined this country since day 1 and Ron Paul is either the only person in congress who is telling the 100% truth and sees the difference between our constitution and everyone elses or he is the best liar in the history of the world and has been planning this since the late 70s.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -4/+17Well, it looks like you're voting for Ron Paul, too.
