- card51short, on 10/10/2007, -11/+50but he's not on TV 24/7...hannity and colmes, bill o reilly, anderson cooper and other media talking heads don't like him!
Where' my hilary and obama...they are the "in" candidates!
ron paul 2008 - j.carcinogen, on 10/10/2007, -6/+42It is properly categorized under "2008 US elections" and therefore in no way spam. If you see stories about the Wii under the category "gaming" and they keep coming this does not make it spam. Obviously you are upset that Paul has more support with people online than the establishment backed candidate you support, just get over it rather than try to marginalize it. You are misusing the bury feature in Digg.
- Banelos, on 10/10/2007, -7/+39Ron Paul and David Kucinich are the only two candidates who originally voted no on the Iraq war proposal and the Patriot Act..
So to me they are the only two credible candidates and imo. the only ones with a good judgment. - j.carcinogen, on 10/10/2007, -14/+45"Though he is widely considered to be a fringe candidate, Paul has become somewhat of an online phenomenon, cultivating a large Internet following that has landed him 54 million Google hits, which is more than the rest of the Republican and Democratic candidates combined."
Quite impressive and shows the obvious connection people who don't want to keep supporting the status quo of the establishment. - kazamx, on 10/10/2007, -9/+32As someone from the UK I really hope the US votes for Ron Paul. He is the only one going to get out of Iraq. The British soldiers can't leave until the Americans do. So the faster the US leave the faster we can fetch our boys and girls home.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25I see anti Ron Paul bury brigade unleashed a fury of hate once again
NEO CON WAR MONGERING RETARDS STOP READING RON PAUL ARTICLES AND GET YOURSELF SHIPPED OFF TO IRAQ NOW
IMPEACH
(arrest Cheney first)
and elect Ron Paul to restore our liberties(Constitution) - ubuntuedgy, on 10/10/2007, -8/+25"To quote one of my classmates, "I don't know who that guy is..."
Wow, sounds like an incredible university. How much do you pay per year for this well rounded education where your classmates don't even know one of only, what, 7 republican candidates?
I think you attempted to bash Paul, but you just made USC look like some money pit that doesn't deliver. - smacksaw, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19We need to lose the word "fringe" in regards to Ron Paul. "Outside the mainstream" sounds much better. You're on the fringe when you're irrelevant. Someone with RP's support and voter interest isn't on the fringe. That many people are too big to be a fringe element. He's bringing the outsiders into the mainstream and changing what the mainstream is. Whether you like RP or not, it's just how it is. The topics of debate are not just about opinion anymore, they're about factual history and shaping policy based upon reality and not idealogy.
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18several candidates are going to be speaking at USC (barack obama later this week, i think)
- Jonsblckhwk, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Ron Paul is definitely the only republican candidate willing to stand up and speak for what he believes in rather than spew meaningless rhetoric or telling people what they want to hear. Ron Paul actually has a voting record to back up his statements...
Ron Paul has my vote. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17"Wow, sounds like an incredible university. How much do you pay per year for this well rounded education where your classmates don't even know one of only, what, 7 republican candidates?"
It doesn't really matter what university you went to. What truly matters is your work ethic and how genuinely interested you are in the subject. - insomniac8400, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18Sell out your country because a candidate is shunned by the media so he must turn to the internet to get his message out?
- sephiroth4, on 10/10/2007, -6/+19Well @ least he's trying to give the American people who have some sense a voice while he has the power and what spotlight he has instead of some empty rhetoric.
- PATSCRU, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15That and USC is amazing...
P.S. about your University of Spoiled Children remark, i'm placed on the Broke-As-***** rung of the economic ladder, i go there, and i love it and i find the student body to be absolutely welcoming to anybody from anywhere regardless of their nationality (we have the highest number of foreign students in the country) or economic status. - facereplacer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12We all need to remember, all of us Ron Supporters anyway, that unless we learn what our county and state do to determine the GOP candidates in the primaries and do something about it, this could all be for naught. If we don't make our online support into real support at the primary, this is all just talk.
- djcgmcse, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Don't worry about it, everyone knows who COINTELPROAgent is. He's a paid neocon who spends all day burying Ron Paul submitted diggs, and exclusively submitting Anti-Paul blog spam. He's got quite the resume of submitted work..
- amenon89, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11It's _Dennis_ Kucinich. At least make sure you get his name right if you vote for him.
- bobbilljoe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9You americans seriously NEEEED to elect this guy! he' the only honnest one out of the bunch
- Nateon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I always thought it would be awesome, George Carlin performed there and he's awesome.
- latinjones, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Well calling him a paid neocon really just sounds kinda paranoid but one thing is for sure. He's definately scared of Ron Paul's influence!
- futureinmind, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Here's the video of the speech, judge for yourself
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py1RTDcfjb0&feature=PlayList&p=8F80FC586712FC47&index=1 - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8The curious thing about the Ron Paul tsunami is that it is not being run by Ron Paul or his staff. It is truly spontaneous. This is not politics as usual where "grass roots" actually means local cadres recruited, run and funded by a centralized campaign. Why do so many doubt the genuine groundswell behind the dream of freedom?
The truth is that there are a lot of people who are sick to death with government as usual, that are ashamed at the way that our government has acted in our name and want to change the destructive heading that the ship of State has taken. These people are organizing at the local level without any direction from the Ron Paul campaign.
If you don't believe that, then you must believe that the organizational capacity of Ron Paul and his limited staff is far and away better than that of any other candidate. There are about 10 times more volunteers for Ron Paul than for Obama who has the second largest pool of volunteers. So, if this is politics as usual and grassroots really means cadres recruited and run from above, then Ron Paul is an organizational genius and therefore would be a very effective administrator.
Whether his volunteers are spontaneously giving of their time or if they are part of a well run organization, this organization reflects very well on Dr. Paul. - Adelhas, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13Voting for the democrat is probably the way to go in the general, yes, but these are still primaries. The best scenario would be Ron Paul actually winning the republican nomination. This way, we'd have a contest between two decent candidates come November 08. IF Ron Paul doesnt win and run independent, THEN we can have this little "please no more Naderisms" discussion.
- evensong, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Thanks for linking to page 2, I enjoy reading backwards.
- whoaohh, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I 'betcha' that his supporters are much more aware of his proposals than the majority of the top tier supporters. People into Ron Paul obviously don't like him because the media tells them to. They like him because of his ideas and his promotion of liberty and the constitution.
- kazamx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8This is great news. RP has the young vote and from what your friend says he now has the 40 year old skaterboy vote. You know he's gonna win now
- MicroBerto, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Sorry for the thread hijack. I was at this rally, drove 30 minutes to get there and it was well worth it.
Here are my pictures (I am in the first one, slightly timed it up wrong):
http://www.bertopics.com/v/LA_Pics/Ron_Paul-USC_Rally-20070912/
Eventually I'll write my own blog post about it, but he gave a great speech. He is getting more confident. He was not the best at working the crowd, however. He doesn't seem like a people person to me, which is fine, but I just wanted to point that out. He needs to be able to do signatures, kiss the baby, and "talk it up" all at the same time. He was too quiet.
As said in the speech, Ron is the only one that can win FOR AMERICA. Nobody else serves America's best interests.
Was happy to go, I recommend checking your local rally out if he swings by. If you want me to post more, I'd be happy to. Many people were videotaping, so hopefully the speech gets on YouTube. - mmortal03, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I can understand people having a problem with vandalism, for obvious reasons, but what I don't get is why people get pissed off about, during a campaign season, people simply spreading his message in other more noble ways. Yes, there are some annoying RP supporters that stick out, but that can't be used as a criticism against Ron Paul's positions. I can see the viewpoint that people need a little inconveniencing to shake them out of their current trances. Ron Paul has a great message, and I don't hear the complainers coming up with better solutions to the U.S.'s problems. It bothers me that people are so uninformed and indoctrinated today by the status quo that they think it is somehow annoying to hear the truth, or that it is an inconvenience to them to actually learn about the issues. What is so hard about supporting Ron Paul?
- ccheath, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7i don't think he wants to get rid of the fbi... he does want to dismantle the cia since they've got a documented history of nefarious goings-on
and as president he would only have the bully pulpit to push congress with (so you'd have to have the congress on board to pass all this)
what i would really like is for him to get rid of all the presidential executive orders that expand the power of the executive branch unconstitutionally
well that and his non-interventionist foreign policy are what i like the most about him - catalysis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I think most of the bury brigade are probably liberals
- czernel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7My wife and I live in California. We were registered Libertarians but we re-registered with the secretary of state under the party "Decline to State". That allows us to pick whatever primary we want to vote in, which we are doing so we can vote for RON PAUL. Hopefully Ron Paul will not only win but will also inspire a whole new generation of candidates that follow the Constitution, rather than the drivel espoused by the two main political parties and their platforms. A vote for RON PAUL is a vote for LIBERTY and the CONSTITUTION!
- Hobofuzz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Ron Paul aims to restore the United States to the principles it was originally founded upon, which led to its great success during the early 1900s. He wants to give power back to the people and restore this nation back to its former position as being a place where freedom and personal responsibility pervade all aspects of life.
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5umm, our boys are leaving, gradually. They're down to 5000 remaining. There's more British troops in Northern Ireland.
- LuluBean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5A vote for RON PAUL is a vote for LIBERTY and the CONSTITUTION!
Absolutely
And there are enough citizens in our country who love liberty and want to save our Constitution to put Ron Paul in the Oval Office
I know he is going to win
Love, Lulu - MellerTime, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5You had to tack on Jesse Jackson? It was good advice that people need to keep in mind, but now no one ever has a hope of seeing it...
- tillsixam, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Keep in mind--
You have to be registered as a republican to vote in the primary.
Jesse Jackson 2008 - Damian91, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Mike Gravel/David Kucinich vs Ron Paul 2008
Seriously these two are our absolutely last hope for America, the majority of Americans will never fully understand/fight back until it's too late. - lastdeadmouse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4George Carlin performs at almost every university.
- geekanarchy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5You would think that based on the mess Bush has created. But then you realize that Hillary will probably get the nomination and all bets are off.
- kaje, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Would it be so hard to link to page 1 of the story? So tired of these digg stories that kick me to the last page.
- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I went there, but I was too late... I was so bummed... AND I forgot my videocamera... What a douche.
- ubuntuedgy, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7I work at a university actually, and I concur with what you said. I employ several student workers. Thankfully, because we are in the tech field, most of them spend time on the internet (Digg, etc.) so they are fairly informed. Most college students, however, are not up on current events...at all. Now, I understand that some people may not be interested in politics. The problem, though, is that we have over 3000 dead military personnel, so its about time they get interested in politics. I believe the Founding Fathers also hinted at the fact that our society only works if people are willing to accept civic responsibilities (voting, staying informed, military service, etc.) That doesn't mean everyone has to join the military or everyone has to vote, it just means that when there are obvious problems, the citizens need to take responsibility and change it. It is our responsibility. When students at a major university like USC are making snide comments about a guy who wants to correct the situation, it really scares the hell out of me. But I do respect the fact that they are at least cautious of ANY political candidate. But with a little research they would see that Paul actually says what he means, his 20+ year voting record proves it. I am not saying vote for Paul, I am saying at least listen to him.
Personally, I have serious problems with Paul wanting to do away with every single federal institution that exists (FDA, FBI, etc.), but I have to admit, 80% of what he says is dead on and accurate. That seems to be far better than most of the other candidates. As of right now, I don't know who I will vote for, but I do know it won't be another Clinton, Guiliani, pretty boy Romney, or anyone who says they don't believe in evolution... - LordofShadows, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Why is the 2nd page of the article linked instead of the first?
- 0zzy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Care to elaborate? Is cutting taxes, spending, and federal power that bad? How is that standing for everything wrong with the country? What's wrong with it is big government.
- knobtwiddler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3i have my r.p. bumper sticker :)
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's just random. You do realise the point was about bringing them home right? The number of British troops in Iraq is falling as they are leaving. They can leave without the US leaving. once there was tens of thousands, just recently another few hundred left Basra. My point is they are leaving and personally I believe they should. I don't know why you're talking about comparing something or percentages, frankly it's irrelevant to the point. I was just indicating that the troop levels have dropped below a certain point.
- czernel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wow I didn't realize that the Constitution states we are to be a Christian nation (it doesn't), or that we should be comprised only of whites (it doesn't), or an impotent federal government (it doesn't), or that states can dictate anything to other states (it doesn't). What it does say is : "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people." This is the 10th Amendment, FatDog789. Ron Paul and supporters like myself actually BELIEVE that the Constitution is correct, and we are not scared or threatened that different states may decide to act differently on different topics. Maybe you should move to another country if you do not believe in the US Constitution.
- BrandonMills, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Oh please, he doesn't have that kind of money.
- LuluBean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3from article
Many students confirmed that their primary source for information in the campaign so far has been the web.
"The first time I saw Ron Paul was on a YouTube video," said Leslie Mood, a senior majoring in business administration. "I was an Independent, but I switched to the Republican Party to vote in this primary."
Good for you Leslie Mood
It is because of open-minded sensible citizens like you
Ron Paul will be our President
Love, Lulu - czernel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Hint to Big Government Spender- Americans are *sick to death* of all the wasteful BS the federal government has chosen to get it's hands into. Go read the 10th Amendment and the Constitution. If anything, social programs belong at the local, city, county, or state levels. NOT at the federal level. We are not against these programs, we are against the federal government trying to manage and run all these programs from the federal level.
