- northwatuppa, on 11/18/2008, -1/+14The whole thing is a non-issue. They probably canceled her show because of ratings.
Of course, saying that they canceled it because of her "terrorist fist jab" remarks grabs Fox even more headlines.
And it jacks up knee-jerk liberals. I myself am a non-knee jerk liberal.
Pretty silly stuff. - Teribssn, on 11/18/2008, -3/+10What a trivial, frivolous thing for Fox to can her for! Good Grief!
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5Personally, I think they let her go cuz she's not as hot as some of the other Fox News babes. I mean is it just me or does anyone else notice that they've got to most blond hotties of any news channel known to man? They don't call it "FOX" news for nuthin'.
- Ironmom61, on 11/18/2008, -10/+14Yup! Off to the Reeducation camp for E.D.!!!!
- Deeh, on 11/18/2008, -7/+11So is Fox going to start firing everybody who says outlandish, sensationalist or untrue things?
Whole lotta job openings... - thepoliticalcat, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4As someone else pointed out at another site, she's past her shelf date. It wasn't so long ago that TV stations routinely retired women when they got to a certain age. E D is "a woman of a certain age."
- thepoliticalcat, on 11/19/2008, -1/+5Which, of course, should bring you to the realization that they canned her for another far more plausible reason, i.e., she's not the young fresh-faced blonde bimbo that represents Faux best.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3when journalists start asking questions based on unsubstantiated fear tactics, yes, any intelligent person would kick them out of the room. are you not privy to all of the 'journalists' on fox who have come under fire from fox head-honchos themselves for being uninformed and towing the republican line further than the mccain camp even approved? maybe you just 'missed' all that so you could post a ridiculous comment. PS - look up 'socialism' and weep at your ignorance.
- SillyRabbits, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2I think they let her go because she simply wasn't a very good host/reporter. She had a style that I found a little annoying and I'm sure I wasn't the only one. She seemed much better suited to the morning talk type program where people babble on about nothing - she didn't do serious news very well. I think her time was limited even before that incident.
- hvsahin, on 11/18/2008, -12/+14Part of me feels bad because, working Fox News, she probably felt pressured into saying more extremist things than she normally would.
Then the part of me that thinks "Put your politics where your morals are" kicks in and I stop feeling sorry for her. - Kadane, on 11/19/2008, -2/+4I really wasn't a fan of E.D. but this seems like a bunch of rubbish to me. After the 2 years of name calling between Dems and Repubs and all the mud slung seems pretty petty to cancel her for this. If you tune in to Keith Oberman you certainly hear a lot worse about us conservatives. Yeah I do believe this offends me that Fox would take her off the air for that especially after she apologized. Joe Biden said worse of VP Cheney not that any of the MSM reported any of that.
- Stereotype77, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3What's scary is that you actually believe that garbage you just posted...
- cquinnd, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1As other have pointed out, its more likely that the comment was just used as an excuse to release her from a show that was already sliding in the ratings.
- Deeh, on 11/18/2008, -4/+5Haha people are digging you for being racist.
- cquinnd, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1A lot of cultures have used firing weapons in the air as a sign of celebration. Even in America (see films depictions of the early West) .
Most societies have stopped that practice due to the danger on innocent participants of damage from falling bullets. Some other societies, including some Muslim cultural areas, have not gotten that message yet.
It is not racist to point that out, but it is inaccurate to claim people doing so are terrorists, or that only Muslims engage in that form of celebration. - cquinnd, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1No, Chris Matthews sychophancy undermines his credibility, but what Matthews says does not sink the level of discourse to that of Hill's comment.
It wasn't a joke about Obama, it was an attack on the whole idea that two people bumping fists together in a moment of solidarity was somehow a symbol for anti-american activity. That kind of paranoia and fear mongering crosses the line into tabloid journalism, that cares more for ratings and sensationalism than in factual analysis and reporting. - jer21, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Those are the extremists...your average Muslim man or woman doesn't parade in the street firing weapons.
- Deeh, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1Haha the racist gets his cultural information from the boobtube! No wonder you are a fool!
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -12/+12What the hell is a "terrorist fist jab"? The terrorists I see celebrating fire weapons into the air and burn effigies.
Oh wait, those aren't necessarily terrorist - just garden variety Muslims. - Berkana, on 11/19/2008, -2/+2Why does this woman get held to account while Sean Hannity still spouts nonsense that is equally as bad if not worse on his own show? This woman's downfall is meaningless if Hannity keeps repeating lies on his show.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -6/+5Racist? How so?
When Muslims celebrate in the streets, they fire weapons into the air and burn effigies of their enemy du jour. How is taking note of that fact racist? - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -1/+0Oh no, jer? Flip on the boob tube once in a while. They do it at frikkin weddings, for cryin out loud. It's a cultural thingy.
- Janinco, on 11/18/2008, -18/+16I guess E.D. Hill didn't get the memo the no one is to insult the messiah!
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -13/+11We laugh, but it's like whistling past the graveyard.
Liberals bitch about censorship --- but they are the ones that actually want to shut down Fox News, talk radio, conservative websites, etc.
Obama kicked reporters off his plane for daring not to toe the line with talking-point articles.
Socialism is scary stuff. - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -4/+1Can't wait to see her make a guest appearance in nailin paylin pt. 2.
Just watch! You betcha. - 80hd, on 11/19/2008, -5/+1Wait. Somebody on Fox went too far and they didn't disagree with conservative views?
wierd.. Maybe they let her go for apologizing without it being backhanded in some way - Ironmom61, on 11/18/2008, -14/+9So it's alright for Chris Matthews to get a thrill up his leg when Obama talks but a FoxNews person can't make a joke about "The One"?
I see, it's only extremist when it's Fox. Umhmmm. - TigersEye, on 11/18/2008, -10/+4I don't believe they fired her for this. Where is the controversy? I didn't see or hear anything controversial at all. It is hardly news that 0bama acts like a teenage tard.
