I believe most people would rather live in ignorant bliss; they'd rather believe that a man in the sky or a man in a white house is looking out for their best interests, so why worry? It's easier to this way, without anxiety, but it's simply untrue and unrealistic. It doesn't mean these are bad people, just misguided. We've all been duped and consequently enslaved. Question is, if you can admit that yourself - what do you do next?
Anyway, I hope more people invest their time to watch this and give debate to it. I can't wait to see the final product and go over the source material myself. - seandulac, on 10/27/2007, -2/+33This movie is an exercise in facing your inner cognition of reality and how well you can measure it against the cold hard facts. Many today have faced their cognitive dissonance raised by the alternative material that 911 Truth movement has brought to our attention. Many more have gone on to investigate and educate themselves on matters of monetary policy and ruling elite.
A great deal of the mythical cognition which swaddles our inner child in safety and security as Americans have been stripped from us since 911 and we are deeper fuller people for it. Zeitgeist goes further still by dedicating the first of 3 parts to the great fraud of social control via dogmatic religion. USA is a religious nation, and I think a great many reviewers of Zeitgeist fear the truth of organized religion in the historical context might cause too great of a cognitive dissonance for people to overcome.
I say don't underestimate the renaissance that 911 has awakened. Humanity might be knocking at the door of a great awakening. Perhaps 911 didn't wake us up, we have evolved into aware beings despite the elites best efforts to keep us in the dark. They fail to control us with religion, they fail to control us with money, they fail to control us with nationalism, and now they are failing to control us with fear.

He was pointing to time periods in history where new religions popped up and either were originally part of another religion or had to assimilate to survive and therefore picked up the traits of the preceding dominant religion. Much like Gilgamesh being picked up in the great flood or Christian holidays that conform in our current culture to pagan habits i.e. Christmas, Easter and the such. Christians assimilated to local cultures to infiltrate other societies either by converts trying to "civilize" them or by foreign governments using it for subversive reasons to pull the power of peoples hearts to another country than the one the were born in. Kind of like mass pulp culture focus's the worlds eyes on the US. For a good example of an assimilated modern religion I give you Mormons which if they thrived in 2000 years would look just as sane and normal as Christians are considered today since the historians calling ***** would have to dig through records 2000 years old to rebut them. If society melts down for a period like the dark ages once again one of the "cults" of today will be the major religion of the next procession.

Raising children believing this is okay is which creates conditions for leaders to take advantage of their people by playing on this weakness.

Read this book if you want to know more about the pagan sun worship behind jesus - tybris, on 10/26/2007, -2/+6I am really impressed with Zeitgeist as a work of art (it's shockingly convincing), however many facts have been bent to serve the purpose of the creators. Although the movie lists a large number of references most of these sources are highly questionable or very loosely interpreted.
Even the Bible does not list the birth date of Christ to be December 25 and the other messiah's are not nearly as similar as it is portrayed. The movie has a very one sided take on 9/11. We all know we should never consult the official report for these kind of matters, but at least consult 911myths dot com for your mental health.
Part 3 is most misleading as it has no regard for modern economic theory or international politics. Our system works the way it does because history has shown it is what works best. The gold standard is outdated and can not compete with legal tender (some politicians in America understandibly thought it did, they reinstated it and it was a disaster for both bankers and people). Debts are an extremely good way to build real economic value: people, services, products, assets, trade, knowledge, skills, etc, because loans allow governments, companies and people to undertake projects that would otherwise be impossible due to a lack of funds. In fact even if people had the funds loans would still be better as it forces you not to waste money as you have to pay it back. Furthermore the movie tries to suggest that recent political events in the US are part of a plot towards a world government. However, the Bush government has driven the world further apart than it has been for many years. China and India are building up and not the least bit interested in Western Hegemony. Russia is restoring its economy and military power and getting more cocky every day. Europe hated the Bush administration from the start. I'm sure that's all a plot towards a final world war, but then you're stretching it a tiny bit too far.
Don't forget our mind wants to relate everything together. It wants to create one big mass of evil bankers that sit behind the buttons trying to control us all. It may even start ignoring facts or common sense when that does not fit the world view (where have we heard that before?). Please do not fall in the same trap. That, if anything, should be the lesson learned from this movie. xkcd dot com slash 258
States, banks an religions are indeed institutions meant to control people, not just for the good of a small group, but for the good of us all. Anarchy is the least desirable system and luckily humanity has grown past that. It's called civilization. Never forget, no one in history has ever had it as good as you do. Don't hate it, enjoy it.
Regardless, the movie makes a few very valid points.
-Jesus is an anthropomorphism of the sun which dates back much further. Many messiah have the same roots (a child would see the similarity between Krishna and Christ)
-The upcoming attacks on 9/11 were perhaps not organized, but at least very well known in some high places. The stock market crash on 9/11 was remarkable, but not nearly as remarkable as the 3% it went down the day before.
-The western world is once again increasingly suffering from corruption. It is clear now that the systems put in place to counter corruption, such as democracy, are failing in the U.S. with special thanks to the church and Rupert Murdoch. Politicians with ridiculous, devastating plans now have no trouble getting into the white house. It is clear that the system can not continue the way it does now, but we musn't try to exponentiate the course of humanity. It is full of suprises. - Grego123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Jesus = the sun!

A classic case of what you can do if you mix facts with a large amount of conjecture and paranoia and lead the viewer the "connect the dots". The originator of this movie is guilty of the same crime as he accuses the powerful in his movie of - leading the dumb "viewer" to make links that cannot be proven but are suggested by giving them a whole pile of "dots" to follow.
There are many things in this movie that may be true.
