- MiddleAmerica, on 09/13/2009, -66/+1022But the Republicans have never let the facts get in their way before.
- smacksaw, on 09/14/2009, -35/+573What a lie. You cannot tell me there are not more red pixels...because I'm a Republican and I believe there are more red ones. No amount of factual evidence is going to change my mind. Show me the proof that the other red ones don't exist. Where are they? Why won't the liberal elite provide documentation as to the whereabouts of our red pixels?
ps, there is no spoon and there are five lights. - MiddleAmerica, on 09/13/2009, -41/+530I knew they were going to exaggerate the number of attendees, but wow...
- BossKey, on 09/13/2009, -24/+498I guess some people figure it doesn't make any difference after you get over 9000.
- brucealmighty, on 09/13/2009, -33/+375Once the wingnuts run out of fingers and toes their math becomes mostly wild-ass guesswork....
- Misinformant, on 09/14/2009, -11/+270734 BILLION PEOPLE VOTED FOR SARAH PALIN
- homercles337, on 09/13/2009, -32/+272Oh, that goofy, crazy "libural medjia."
- macsox, on 09/13/2009, -11/+220I wasn't. But I would love to see a photo in which everyone along that stretch was confined to a 1 square foot area.
- Bobby1978, on 09/14/2009, -8/+178Hey, I can actually see the pixels.
- Ghostalker, on 09/13/2009, -10/+159I highly doubt that each person stood in a 1x1 square foot area. My monitor is just about 1 square foot, and I couldn't imagine standing in a spot that small for so long. Now a 2x2 foot area (4 sqft) gives you some wiggle room (still kinda cramped though), and turns your argument of 2mil people down to 660k.
2.64mil sqft / 1sqft = 2,640,000 people
2.64mil sqft / 4sqft = 660,000 people - mferrari3, on 09/14/2009, -16/+153With your math, I could fit a few thousand people in my house.
Have I ever done it? No.
Is it really possible? No.
Can an ***** who doesn't realize that everyone who lied about the 2 million has admitted it was 70,000 not look like a *****? No. - bail3yz, on 09/14/2009, -6/+138Ya.. ask someone who was there.. because they definitely took a head count....
- Ghostalker, on 09/14/2009, -5/+1251ft x 1ft = 1sqft
2ft x 2ft = 4sqft
To get 2sqft you can have a 2ftx1ft area, which means you can reach your hands in your pockets, but you'll be grinding your junk against the persons ass in front of you. I erred on the side of caution and figured it was a march on the capital, not a grind-fest. - sildude, on 09/14/2009, -19/+138Oh look. A complete ***** moron.
- ToddsSpleen, on 09/14/2009, -1/+114dugg for five lights
- mrjoanofarc, on 09/14/2009, -11/+120Green pixels should've been blue. ;)
- franklymister, on 09/14/2009, -5/+110It's not "disagreeing" to point out an excess of stupid.
- smacksaw, on 09/14/2009, -10/+113Math? In a thread with Republicans?
I'm calling the Kansas and Texas school boards and putting a stop to your witchcraft! - ichbinladen, on 09/14/2009, -17/+99I rather enjoyed watching the retards parade around DC on Saturday. What they lacked in numbers they made up for in unhinged lunacy.

- christianboutin, on 09/14/2009, -1/+78You can if you omit the use of the scrollbar. Scrollbars... pesky little democrat invention I bet.
- DankBuddz, on 09/14/2009, -3/+79Clicking the "show" button is just so god damn difficult, I know.
- apr400, on 09/14/2009, -3/+78Basically just the number of zeros, or more precisely, in common usage, the log of the number rounded down,
so
log(70000) = 4.8 => Order of Mag = 4
log(2000000) = 6.3 => Order of Mag = 6
6 - 4 = 2 - bjornski, on 09/14/2009, -6/+75And indoctrinating our children with Arabic numerals!
- duewydo, on 09/14/2009, -0/+65yeah, I can tell by the pixels.
- mferrari3, on 09/14/2009, -8/+72The DC fire department estimated 70,000. They are an unbiased source and had to estimate the number of people for safety reasons. That wikipedia page says 1.8 million attended the inauguration, not the 9/12 *****. So it is possible for that many people to be there, but when you let those pesky facts get in the way, you have 70,000 thinly veiled racists shouting nonsense that an immature douche on Fox told them to.
- Elranzer, on 09/14/2009, -9/+69Well, no one ever said Republicans were good with math or science.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 09/14/2009, -2/+62Not agreeing with an idea because it's right but different from my idea =/= Not agreeing with an idea because it's ***** wrong.
- teebird, on 09/14/2009, -9/+59Quoting poprocksandsoda "Actually Wikipedia says 1.8 million."
There is no official estimate of the size of the crowd because the National Park Service, which is the agency in charge, stopped releasing crowd estimates several years ago.
Also, given that anybody can write anything in Wikipedia, that makes it a highly suspect source in this case, especially considering that there are no known reliable numbers. - copyland, on 09/14/2009, -12/+61"I was at the 9/12 rally! I saw the massive number of people there. I have 300 pictures to prove to it!"
To prove what, that you were there? I believe you. You do seem stupid enough. - eclectro, on 09/14/2009, -16/+63I thought that it was 30,000? How did it get to 70,000?
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemonster/200 ... - bugeye999, on 09/13/2009, -16/+63I don't see the difference.
- smacksaw, on 09/14/2009, -5/+51No, because everyone who is blue has turned green with a desire to vomit over the neverending torrent of lies and idiocy from the red pixels.
- Arctaus, on 09/14/2009, -2/+47Hey everyone, let's all give publius thumbs down so that his comments will be blocked and we won't have be exposed to the idea's of someone WHO CANNOT DO SIMPLE MATH
- x1soundgarden1x, on 09/14/2009, -7/+51over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDD!!!!!????
- ryanonfire, on 09/14/2009, -3/+47Blue + yellow = Green :O wake up sheeple!
- awinters, on 09/14/2009, -4/+46I don't believe in digging down just because the viewpoint is opposing like a lot of people on here, but I have to digg this down.
Are you serious? Do you really think that a person can fit into a square foot. A newborn baby standing up can maybe squeeze into a square foot, but that is even stretching it.
Also, you are aware that the square feet you're discussing is the space existing, not just the space where people could walk or stand. On the way to the Capitol and leading to the Capitol there are countless obstructions that wouldn't allow people to walk or stand. Are you including that space?
This kind of math is the reason people think Republicans are so blinded by their anger they can't even think straight. This is basic logic. You're math is unacceptable to any intelligent discussion on the topic. - Quaterni0n, on 09/14/2009, -9/+51Damn, dude! You're dumb!
- Quaterni0n, on 09/14/2009, -9/+51Kind of like finding your fat mom's vagina.
- zip000, on 09/14/2009, -1/+43Because they aren't disagreeing: they are either lying or repeating lies.
A disagreement is when there is a difference of opinion. This is a statement of facts. Disagreeing with facts is either false or delusional. - 17999, on 09/14/2009, -4/+45For example, we are closer to 70,000 front page stories about this topic than we are 2,000,000.
More please!
/s - Equinox2O12, on 09/14/2009, -9/+49If anyone showed up that was 1sqft... that is the guy who needs health care.
- QuantumNighmare, on 09/14/2009, -7/+46Wait, aren't you the "digg crowd" as well by virtue of posting on the site? Do you enjoy making fun of yourself?
- Arctaus, on 09/14/2009, -7/+45math and science: not supported by irrationality or scripture
- Tomoir, on 09/14/2009, -3/+40If you can see the difference, the terrorists win.
TWO PLUS TWO IS FIVE - digitalArtform, on 09/14/2009, -6/+421, 2, 3, MANY.
HOW IS BABBY FORMED? - bail3yz, on 09/14/2009, -7/+43Hahaha publius can't do simple math.. hahaha
- RAAFStupot, on 09/14/2009, -15/+50Just to nitpick / ask a question....
The article implies that 2 000 000 is 'two orders of magnitude greater' than 70 000....
I thought that if we're speaking 'base 10', two orders of magnitude means 100 times (10^2)....so two orders of magnitude greater than 70 000 would be 7 000 000... Is that correct?
Or is it 'orders of magnitude' simply referring to the number of zeroes before the decimal point? (2 000 000 has two more zeroes than 70 000) - awinters, on 09/14/2009, -3/+36I didn't digg him down for that. I don't think its right to digg people down just because they make a point I don't want to hear. I dugg him down because his math is so terribly bad.
An opinion can vary, but facts can't. His math is impossible. That is not a differing of opinion. It is just incorrect math. We can all disagree on how many people are there, but you can't change space and time. -
