Yesterday's crooked politician was craftier than today's

thestar.com — Hypocrisy and hubris go hand-in-hand. Many public office holders are well-endowed with both. But is there also some kind of stupid gene that infects people who go into politics? Can't they, when they run for the first time, be vaccinated, for the public benefit as well as their own? Whatever happened to the old-fashioned crooked politician?
