- bakagaijin2001, on 10/11/2007, -17/+208Even though the House passed to start withdrawl of troops, Bush doesn't want to disscuss it until "after September"
Leads me to wonder what is being planned between now and September that will change our minds about troop widthdrawl?? - bartscott57, on 10/11/2007, -26/+139You'd have to be a moron to believe any of their phony terror plots.
- greenback1, on 10/11/2007, -11/+99Message to Chertoff: Your brain is used to analyze and assess all sorts of complex issues and to formulate results and determine actions. Your heart is used to comprehend beauty & compassion & to pump blood. Your gut is used mostly for informing you when to eat or when to have sex. Since this news article has proven you don't have a brain, and we all know you war mongers don't have a heart, why don't you just get yourself something to eat and go f*ck yourself. Afterwards, you need to pack up your belongings, the adults are going to have to take charge. You do hold citizenship for Israel, maybe it's time to go there.
- scoot2006, on 10/11/2007, -4/+52From Websters dictionary - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/terrorism
Terrorism:
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.
Anyone else think this sounds like our government? (Especially numbers 2 and 3) - PATSCRU, on 10/11/2007, -7/+53but it's true! chertoff felt it in his gut! Who needs the FBI or the CIA when the Head of HomeSec has such profound gut feelings!
- greatking, on 10/11/2007, -4/+39"Fear will keep them in line"
- Sounds like the evil empire is working - Thorezine, on 10/11/2007, -13/+47It seems all of the members of the Bush administration WANT a terrorist attack. No surprise, really; a terrorist attack would be a perfect excuse for bush to flex his 'dictatorial power' muscles.
http://digg.com/politics/Recently_signed_Presidential_Directive_NSPD51_Gives_BUSH_Dictatorial_Powers - darny, on 10/11/2007, -6/+39Oh man, the headlines in all the papers this morning:
"AL-QAEDA PLANNING U.S. TERRORIST ATTACK"
wtf? It ain't like they're planning a ***** U.S.bake sale
what purpose do headlines like these serve other than to
1. Sell newspapers
2. Make the public think we need a hawk like bush in office
Jesus christ. The terrorists are WINNING! And the media (and Bush) is helping them win!!
If I'm going to see headlines like these, I also want to see:
EXCLUSIVE: OIL SUPPLY NOT UNLIMITED
SOCIAL SECURITY HEADED FOR IMMINENT BANKRUPTCY
EVENTUALLY NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD ANYTHING, EVER - chowdah, on 10/11/2007, -4/+35"Bush is the evil one trying to kill innocent people."
He's not trying, he's succeeding. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+31But I had such a 'gut feeling' about it. I don't know maybe it's nothing.
- Drahkar, on 10/11/2007, -5/+29Actually that report already came out. It stated that there are very few successes in the current strategy of building up the Iraqi Political structure to be able to govern itself and that most of the key points that needed to be met, have not had any success yet. It was a very bad light on the current situation over in Iraq regarding the administration's current strategy. But of course no real news ever makes it to dig. We're just a bunch of flamers. Jackass.
And as a side note, when you insult digg viewers, you're insulting yourself too. Just thought I'd point that out. - karel747, on 10/11/2007, -4/+26This gut feeling about a terrorist attack + Bush's executive order for taking totalitarian control of the US in the event of said terrorist attack + Bush/Chaney trying to avoid congressional oversight + The nearing of the end of the Bush regime + The desecration of our Constitution = Something bad's going to happen => We should invoke our Second Amendment rights, big time.
It's simple math, people. - bsmang, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22Only retarded folks would decide to start supporting the Iraq war because of a new terrorist attack. The rest will view it as what it is: more evidence that attacking Iraq was the dumbest thing we could've done and that Bush is a loser of absolutely epic proportions.
- Asure, on 10/11/2007, -4/+233000 ppl is nothing. Even tiny increases in temperature can kill millions...and wreck ecologic catastrophe.
Neocon ignorance is boundless. - Mrsnetpro, on 10/11/2007, -11/+30They'll come up with something to scare the masses, they always do. And then all we'll hear is "we told you so" followed by smirks.
- MeMongo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21They'll keep making these claims. If something happens and (somehow) a positive result occurs, Bush will say "See how great we are?" If it is a horrible attack with absolutely nothing positive coming out of it, they'll say "It's because the Democrats didn't ____________________". They'll fill in the blank later.
Now, before anyone asks "What could possibly come out of an attack that is positive?" For a brief period of time after 9/11, most of the world was willing to do whatever it took to console us. Bush could have called the heads of GM, Ford, Toyota, etc. and said "This happened because the world is dependent on oil. We are going to pass legislation that will increase fuel economy to unprecedented amounts and you WILL comply with it or your vehicles will not be sold in the U.S." Take away the demand for oil and they have to return to being nomadic goat herders.
Some of you will say "*****", but we could have leveraged those attacks into something positive. Instead, our troops are dying in Iraq, the world hates us, Exxon makes unprecedented profits while we pay an astronomical amount for gas, the economy is tanking, we are in debt for trillions of dollars to China, our kids are getting fatter and stupider, etc.
I think I hear someone yelling "If you don't like it, you can get out!" - btbalance, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20why is it that anybody smart enough to see through the administrations ***** becomes a "Lib".. why do you meatheads need to classify people? to make it easier to spew your hatred?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21And you need to stop making stupid assumptions about the posters here.
- rizla420, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21I honestly think the threat from Al Qaeda is way overblown. They lead us to believe that they are some superbly trained group of terrorists, which isnt the case. The videos of them training in the deserts shooting AK's and doing drills are most likely not the kind of terrorists that are the ones in the US/UK. Those guys are probably the ones training to go fight US troups in Iraq. The Al Qaeda that's "looming" in our midst is not some super terrorist cell that can pull of 911 type jobs. 911 was a perfect storm of a terrorist act. Its not something they could pull of easily and repeatedly.
All in all this is more and more fear mongoring. Anytime something bad happens it will be "We told you so, Al Qaeda is behind this. You should have let us tap everyone's communications otherwise they wouldnt have attacked again." By By freedom, liberty, and justice. Hello police state, what took ya so long. - gus2074, on 10/11/2007, -6/+22We as Americans have nothing to be afraid of. We are the most powerful country on earth. The only question that remains is whether we want to continue to be or not. Forget Iran, if we keep our troops in Iraq, our country will go bankrupt and we will no longer be the USA. Those who would love to see that happen are the ones who want us to be scared so we keep throwing money away by the bucket load. Iraq is just a tool enabling them to take us over. Nothing more. Leaving Iraq to the people who live there to protect and defend it is the best thing we can do for them. If they fail and decent into full civil war, the victors of the conflict, whomever they may be, will eventually stabilize the place. It's not any of the US's business.
- nwoantibody, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18Chertoff is actually telling folks: "Get ready... Al CIAeda is about to blast one of our towns with a nuclear device."
Too late though Chertoff... the people have woken up, and this time it's not just 1% of the population. And no Al CIAeda doesn't have nuclear devices even though in your fairy world they probably have H bombs and what not. Next time you blow up the people... get ready... - brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17You're right that the current administration isn't worried by talk of impeachment but you're wrong in thinking that's okay
- generalloy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Except that Ari Fleischer and Tom Ridge both admitted that Homeland Security was used for political reasons.
- rizla420, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18I'm glad you dont live in a big city either because you cant hack it. You want to feel like you're being coddled and protected becasue some guy behind a podium says so. Each and every day you have a chance of dieing. Your chances of getting killed are far more likely to happen via a car accident than a terrorist act. ***** this being scared ***** people. Death will get us all and really its something everyone should come to terms with at some point. Just becuase you come to terms with death doesnt downplay that dieing prematurely is a bad thing, but when you come to terms that death is a possibility. You get comfortable with it and live you life without worrying about the "WHAT IF's"
Stop the ***** ***** people. - Asure, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15What really scares the hell out of me and (I am no conspiracy theorist)...
I do not think that creating a 'terrorist attack' would be beyond this administration. - mrmworth, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18keith olbermann tears it up, week in and week out
- nonchai, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19read this to see why bush was elected: a journalist spends time with conservatives on a cruise organised by a leadig conservative magazine:
http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Cruising_with_the_right_wing_nut_jobs - scoobydoo84, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15Of course AlQaida can personally thank W for creating a wonderful recruiting tool for them. In fact you can say W is the best thing to happen to Al Qaida. How nice jackass!!
- khfn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14godDAMNIT, martial law is coming. This is some scary *****.
- almightyzam, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14I swear to God, if I ever became president I would ... this administration with lawsuits, impeachment, incarceration, the death penalty, the whole motherfu*king nine yards. Then I'd have R. Kelly pee on them.
- robflm256, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14The only way I'll believe we will be attacked by "terrorists" is if our mainstream media were to be shut down. If the "terrorists" attacked Hollywood, or American Idol, or a major sports game that was played all over ESPN. Or if the Internet was shut down. Because if you think about it, the only reason people aren't caring enough is because we don't have to. All we have to do is turn on the TV and forget about what's going on. The U.S. government knows this, and they depend on us staying dumb and being constantly entertained. "Top News: PARIS HILTON!! in other news iraq war. NOW BACK TO PARIS HILTON!!" It's embarassing. We're drugged by too much entertainment.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 10/11/2007, -5/+17Now here's the really ***** up thing. We've been hearing these ***** warnings for five years now. Each time the meaning of these alerts gets more and more dubious. At what point do we ignore a serious threat because we just get tired of them. I really dont think this administration has read the Boy Who Cried Wolf or they just dont care.
- willizm, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14"This time for the whole summer. Does anyone believe these liars anymore?"
Either way we are screwed because if something did or didn't happen, then we would blame the bush administration. I don't support Bush, but either way we are screwed. - milliebubba, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Nope. People like you, who try to avoid facing facts, are the biggest threat to our freedoms. Are there terrorists? Of course. But the general effect of too many "terror alerts" and the "all terror all the time" rhetoric spewed out by wingers in general has the overall effect of desensitizing the population of the country. It's Little Boy Who Cried Wolf syndrome. And it's dangerous to all of us.
- Sapulator, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14They need to have another terrorist attack to happen if they want the American "sheeple" to support their invading Iraq, increasing surveillance, passing more Patriot-Act-like bills that violate the Constitution, initiating martial law, and forming the North American Union. Sounds crazy? look this stuff up.
-Don't take my word for it, but all this talk about "something happening this summer", "Al-Qaeda being as strong as before 9/11", and other things make me very worried, especially living in NYC - FlamingWombat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13No, damnit, you're all wrong. Haven't you guys listened to Colbert? We have more nerves in our gut than our brain. He knows because his gut told him that, and that must be true.
- fatlip, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13there would be no civil war. if ANYTHING, at the most extreme, there'd be an overthrow of the bush state, granted he exercised those dictorial powers. i hate to be the conspiracy theorist, but i have a 'gut feeling' this whole thing is more than just the bush administration. i think we're in for a long, well-planned ride.
- rhino369, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Every day Illegal immigrants kill 25 Americans, either via murder, or car accidents etc etc. Thats 9000 a year. There are less than 500 average terrorist deaths per year in the past ten years. Terrorism is bad and is dangerous but there are much bigger problems for society.
- rizla420, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11The US is walking down a well worn path. The US and Roman empire had similar traits in common. An over extended army. Huge amounts of money we're being spent to maintain the army. A corrupt senate and disenfranchised citizens.
If there's anything that should really be changed about this country is our Foreign Policy. Its been defunct since the end of WW2. Ever since then we've had an interventionist policty. I hear a lot of people complaing about who we police the world like its something the US is forced into doing.. Quite the contrary, we police to protect and expand our interests. Its a global power grab we've been involved in. - tHePeOPle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14Republicans are salivating for a terrorist attack. It'll distract everyone from their colossal ineptitude and failure for a bit. Not to mention, Larry Flynt finding out about their love of whores and creepy diaper fetishes. The more they spout about "Family Values", the more ***** up the fetish. Haggard? Vitter?
- mikalveli, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Bears
- justice7, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12hold on to that comment dated July 13 2007 ...... mark those words, because i bet you'll be saying "I KNEW IT"
- mikalveli, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11That is pretty funny. I can't count the number of times "digg users" post a comment about how they hate "digg users." To use their own argument: "If you don't like [America | Digg], well you can get out."
- biggrz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Nobody is in denial of what happened. Many of us ARE smart enough to know the difference between 9/11 and Iraq/Iran.
- EarlOfLade, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Since 9/11 over 600,000 Americans have died in car crashes and from gun shot wounds, but I don;t see you screaming for a war on car crashes and gun violence, why is that?
- Eivo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11*Glances at Iran*
...
"Glances at Bush*
...
Damnit! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Don't worry. There will be another 'attack' (read as false flag operation) before November next year!
- milliebubba, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9The government FAILED us on 9/11 and exploited their failure on 9/12. And we ARE both not doing enough and doing too much that is counterproductive abroad.
- ziffel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Al Qaeda may well be planning something else. I think the problem here is the timing ... Bush gets in hot water for his Libby sentence commutation, and even conservatives are jumping ship on Iraq war support, and 2 days later ... poof ... CODE RED! Note also that this is not the first time that Bush has ***** up and there's been a soon-following terrorism warning (that never panned out, btw)
- chowdah, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Hey, it worked for them in 2001.
