- Temlakos, on 11/09/2009, -0/+9The more reason why this bill is unconstitutional. What you describe is a bill of attainder.
- stompk291, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2but obama said this wasn't a tax
- Brotoi, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2Somehow I strongly suspect this is not an "unintended consequence".
Or am I just being paranoid? - Thistlejack, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2If you don't buy health insurance, you get up to a 2.5% surtax. And people who willfully don't pay their taxes can be punished by up to 250,000 in fines, 5 years in prison, and a felony tag. And felons don't get to carry firearms.
Wow... It's quite a stretch to claim that this health insurance thing is trying to take away our right to bear arms.
If the government decides to pass new taxes and you decide you don't have to pay those taxes, you are breaking the law. You do not get to pass Go, you don't get to collect your $200, and you don't get the same rights as law abiding citizens. There's no grand conspiracy here.
