- backoff34, on 10/11/2007, -18/+99I agree, it is the most important issue of our time. Anyone who tries to convince otherwise is either in cahoots or kidding themselves. I am sick and tired of these ***** politicians raping their constituents and working in our 'best interests'. We need to get them impeached, or we will lose our country. Think of how bad the next person will be after seeing what these guys get away with.
After these guys are impeached there needs to be some serious reconsideration of our entire system.
But alas, this will never happen because our fellow countrymen and women do not care. Whenever things such as this are brought up, people look at you as if you are crazy. None take the time to look at how ***** up our "land of the free and home of the brave" has become... - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+40Impeachment is merciful but justice demands criminal prosecution. The call for impeachment hasn't worked. It is time to enforce the law.
- Agrabah, on 10/11/2007, -9/+38Wow I am getting tired of this story. It won't happen - too many gears are in motion and the wrong people have power. The people who have people who have the ability to remove this power are also the wrong people. We can post blogs and picket all we want ... it won't happen. Our generation is empty of the beatniks or the civil marchers - the people that really saw something wrong and wanted to change it. There was a difference between the democratic American revolutionaries of the past and the ones now. We like to pretend to care and try and raise awareness ... but we don't know what our cause really is and, frankly, we are all too damn happy and comfortable. There is nothing to die for because noone is willing to do it.
- SnowOxx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23If you want to put blame on people, don't just blame the Pres and VP, you also need to blame congress. And look who is all running for president. Most of them are in congress. Boot them all out is my view.
- atheinostic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Spying without a warrant/impartial judicial oversight:
- violates FISA (U.S.C. ยงยง1801-1811)
- violates the 1st and 4th Amendments to the Constitution
- violates the Constitution's Separation of Powers doctrine
Violating FISA is a felony, punishable by up to a $10,000 fine and/or 5 years in prison - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Perhaps you could keep up with current affairs better if you removed your head from your ass.
- kageki, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Lying to the public and world about Iraq is not breaking the law?
Isn't torture against the Geneva Conventions?
It says Illegal Wiretaps or do you just not even register the illegal part? - noahhoward, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Uh, impeachment is part of enforcing the law. An impeachment is the same thing as a regular indictment. You impeach then try, then, if convicted, you remove them from office and apply any other penalties necessary.
- ScottoGato, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I agree with your statement, and have seen this for a while now. I would say the real thing behind any of this, is our actual government itself as well as the media. America, as a whole, is finally getting all of the information necessary to finally make a rational decision.
Where were the politicians at when they already had all of the information, and they sat content letting everything go by them? Where was the media, when they had all of the information, and didn't inform us of it until now. And even now, the only media head that I see pushing for an impeachment is Keith Olbermann.
The average American person would rather watch CSI reruns than the news...and who is to blame them, if the only news they are reporting while all of this going on, is Paris Hilton Goes To Jail Coverage. We need an American government that is willing to stand up to all of the pressure to get the word out to the American people if there is something that needs to be discussed. And the media....we seriously need a whole new set of rules for them. - madm0nk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7My goodness you people with your head up your ass crack me up.
- kosmoX, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10You really are a leftist troll. Before anybody diggs down this comment, go through Dregga's recent comments and tell me how many insightful and factual posts he has made.
- psitech, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Are you that misinformed? What "pardon" exactly has he given? I do hope you respond. Is this something you've heard and took it for the truth and believed it just cause you hate Bush? He hasn't pardoned Libby you idiot. He commuted his sentence. It's funny that you say something like "giving out pardons to someone who did something illegal". These comments are pretty funny to me considering that Clinton actually PARDONED terrorists (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton_pardons_controversy).
You might want to look at the long long list of Clinton pardons (http://www.usdoj.gov/pardon/clintonpardon_grants.htm). The blind ignorance of Some of you people truly astounds me.
You all love to talk about lies. So he lied along with Bill Clinton? Al Gore? Hillary Clinton? John Kerry? shall I go on? Oh and please don't get me started on the UN. So we have to get the UN's approval to do anything huh? Ever hear of the "oil for food" scandal? Anan's son was even involved in it. Iraq could have not only violated the 17 security council resolutions, but could have violated 17 more and the UN would never had done anything.
There are some libs on here that at times make good points and are pretty rational and I enjoy reading their posts, but I'm amazed at how many liberal total wackjobs have infested digg. It's pretty scary that you people have such a hatred and yet you always sound so ignorant.
It's amazing how blind you people are just for the pure hatred you have for Bush. I myself am no Bush supporter. I'm a true conservative and he is not. - stauken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6GIANT ROBOT NIXON! RAAAAAAAAAAR! Sorry, random futurama reference seemed quite appropriate here.
- atheinostic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Go read the FISA law, there is absolutely no question as to the legality of warrantless wiretaps. The law is crystal clear on the subject. Federal courts have ruled against it already, even over the seldom-questioned state secrets defense.
- stauken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5This doesn't disgust me anywhere near as much as iPhone stories.
- Gir9000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The bush administration is taking our rights away by placing fear in us and using it to their advantage to wage war for profit and power. Now is the time to right the wrong and Impeach Bush and Cheney. It is our responsibly as americans citizens to demand this. revolution!
- madm0nk, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8I am absolutely amazed at how many people on digg seem to be mentioning the fact that the current administration, and countless others before it have consistently lied to us, and seem to pass it off as ok. Granted that technically we can't impeach anyone in office for the sole fact of "lying" (unless under oath) but that doesn't leave out all other options.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
John F. Kennedy
P.S. Yes I know JFK lied as well, like all politicians ...... nobody is perfect. The degree of deception is getting intolerable. - phaed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5you had your chance. and you blew it. time to let the cooler heads decide this county's fate
- ddmulholland, on 10/11/2007, -8/+13IMPEACH! Contact your representatives! Demand justice.

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm - xShad0w, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Yea i agree there acts have gone way past impeachment, they need to be imprisoned or somethin, its just too much now, and beyond that the average person on the street 1. doesnt give a ***** or are too stupid to even know whats going on, or 3 dont think it affects them anyway, WTF!!!!
- zrezvi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5 I recall a quote from Oliver Stone's movie 'Nixon' :
Nixon shuffles back alone, coming to a stop in front of a larger-than-life, full-length oil portrait of JOHN F. KENNEDY. Nixon studies the portrait, pads closer. Looks up.
NIXON (CONT'D)
When they look at you, they see what they want to be.
(then)
When they look at me, they see what
they are ... - InfamousAtheist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If we're going to get rid of the "zealot" liberals, can we get rid of all the other extremists too? How about anyone who watches/reads Coulter, Limbaugh, or Hannity?
Your suggestion is un-American and you're actively arguing against the founding principles of America, which are exactly what give you the right to spread your fascist suggestions on a web forum without fear of retribution (other than a tongue-lashing and the diggs down).
I have this funny feeling that you'd be enraged if someone suggested removing the neocon righty whack jobs from society, like those I named above, among others (you).
Don't you hate it when random internet stranger exposes your hypocrisy like that? - tripas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Jeez, you're a fool. "Oooo...Conspiracy Conspiracy! Run Away! Run Away!"
- bennyboy371, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6As a democrat, I'd have less of a problem with that than the current situation, if only to stop whatever plans Bush and Cheney have left to further their checkbooks.
- rolf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The line of succession is already set in law:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_line_of_succession
I doubt it is up for political grabs. - mithrasinvictus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You want to be rewarded for putting these psychopaths in office? Why?
- tripas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Finally...a voice of reason...and on Digg! Imagine that!
- WaterDragon, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6it also goes to send a message to the rest of the world, that Americans are not a bunch of spineless, immoral, fat, dumbed down sheep-like idiots who would sell their souls for a cheap beer and some snack foods.
Unfortunately, we ARE that, for the most part.. .just pawns of the federal reserve-scam artists, cannon fodder for Haliburton and the Bush-Cheney crime families! - phaed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4of course they didn't break any laws. they changed the law after the fact.
- Agrabah, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7That wasn't my point at all. I was saying that noone really REALLY cares. If they did ... guess what? Bush would have been out of there after people found out he lied about Iraq. People wanted to impeach Clinton because he left semen stains in the Oval Office. I care a lot about this country and the direction it is going in. The point of my comment was to say that with an entire democratic system that is corrupt, inept and pathetic citizens who don't care and are willfully ignorant, and a situation in the Middle East that is near irreversable ... there is not much we can do.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I hear conservatives saying we should turn the whole middle east into a parking lot. Can I attribute that to you?
- Smaugrens, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4This whole impeachment ordeal should have arisen long before now...the main reason it's getting publicity now is because of politics, not to serve justice. Impeachment proceedings NEED to take place, because the Bush Administration is paving the way for future administrations to get away with murder (as this one is) or worse.
Regardless of whether the administration has 18 months or weeks left, justice must be served...before any attempts to resign. - n8glenn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7what about accessory to obstruction of justice? what about illegal spying on americans? I could be wrong, and therefore stupid, but I think he's been breaking laws since he was declared winner in 2000.
- n8glenn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5so whatever bush does is ok as long as clinton did it too, right? why is everything about party? is nothing either right or wrong anymore?
- SnowOxx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I have just been tired of both sides blaming each other instead of themselves. Who gives a crap which party or type they are, look at what they have done in power. (I have also been watching V for Vendetta alot lately)
- tripas, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7In the days if IRC, you would be what was known as a "LAMER"...
- atheinostic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5There is no such thing as too many activists; only too few. More people ought to be involved in political discussion and action.
- bmark489, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6How about impeachment for meddling with a federally issued and mandated sentence on Mr. Libby and denying we the people justice. Libby lied during an investigation into the Bush Administration. That is a crime, it is called obstruction of justice. I am sure the prosecutors wanted Libby to sweat it out in prison for a few weeks to get the real information out of him. Bush directly interfered with this process in his and Dick's benefit. Yes that is a violation of law. Yes they are covering their asses. Yes most of us can see this.
- madm0nk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Ok ... I think a large majority of you completely misunderstand what impeachment is. There doesn't have to be any proof of anyone "breaking the law", only strong evidence. The impeachment is a process of confirming a (strong) theory that laws have been broken. After this then the person (or persons) is tried in a court of law to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the crime has been committed and then a sentence is carried out. Think of it as an arraignment ..... sort of. If any one of you really believe that any of these ***** could absolve any charges against them under oath without lying (perjury) then you need to follow these steps.
1. Bend over.
2. Reach back
3. Pull you head out of your ass. - tripas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3ummm...yeah...I'd rather be robbed than murdered...any day. Anyone who says any differently is an idiot.
- OswaldKenobi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Way to be! Anybody who disagrees with your opinion should be jailed. And you're criticizing the President for taking away rights? Typical liberal jackass, hypocrite to the end.
- tripas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Right On man...I mean...you know they're gonna say, "Then why did the republitards impeach Clinton for lying?" What the fail to realize is that the only time it's illegal to lie, is when it's under oath. Dumb asses.
- CourtesyFlush, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So......you're guessing.
And very badly. - ryeland, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4We have some brilliant people here. Yes let's let crime go unpunished because they are small in comparision to the atrocities of the past. Let's let people become so desensitized to a corrupt government so that if it does get as bad as Russia of days past, or as bad as Germany in days past. Let's let the american public get so comfortable that their presidents are only committing minor attrocities that they see everything as a minor attrocity.
You people are supremely arrogant and stupid. Sure let injustice thrive. Let the "walks in the park" continue. Let the system be slowly and gradually corrupted until when you realize what a moron you have been its too late. ANY ABUSE OF POWER IS TOO MUCH. Why you ask? Easy, it sets a precedent for further abuse of power. So pull your heads out of your butts long enough to realize YOU are encouraging this abuse of YOUR trust, money and RIGHTS.
Bottom line is, the people in this thread who are saying that this stuff isn't that bad are a disgrace to the american philosophy and the country as a whole. - kosmoX, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Who else did you think I had in mind? ;-)
...some of us still believe in freedom. - CourtesyFlush, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I'm a real long haired "hippie" from several decades ago and being "hippie" has nothing to do with Digg.
What we see on digg is the Cubicle Monkey Action Committee in session......screeching over ***** they don't comprehend and reacting to the same buzzwords in the same manner every time simply because their ring leaders are telling them to. - CourtesyFlush, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7What I'd like to see is someone stuff the reasons why impeachment won't happen right up the snouts of those who fail to acknowledge them.
Impeachment is not endorsed by the top Democrats simply because they like their dirty laundry right where it is. Dragging the soiled dainties out with highly publicized hearings would expose everyone on either side of the aisle as having problems with leaving unsightly skid marks on their knickers.
The Democrats would rather the ImpeachNOW enthusiasts go unsatisfied than have their own ugly shenanigans dragged unceremoniously out of the hamper by retaliating Republicans.......who would do their damndest to show every quote for the past decade, every defense budget cut, every intel budget cut and every vote in support of a very unpopular war in HUGE LETTERS THAT EVERYONE COULD READ.
The "I was hoodwinked" excuse wouldn't work any longer for the majority of the public who haven't followed current affairs as closely as they should and somewhat ignorantly trust Big media to tell them what is going on.. -
