- PeppermintPig, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Liberty requires equal opportunity. When the government begins to mandate equal tribute and equal outcome, there is only tyranny. Who is it that is justified in deciding what cost I must pay for my Liberty? Many seem to believe that there is an obligation placed upon me, but to raise that question is to suggest I am a slave because my Liberty would come at a cost. I am not a violent anti-social monster for the lack of such taxes on my person. I am not incapable of governing myself without big brother watching over me.
It's the idea that others should be obligated because we accept the obligation ourselves which is flawed. It's very much a hazing process where it becomes acceptable to support punitive forms of justice and equality with the misguided belief that these things bring order to a society. It also eludes to the idea that people, when faced with an urgent need to survive, would be incapable of solving their individual and social problems voluntarily. If you believe that, then you must not trust anybody else to do the right thing on their own. But government, too, would also be full of such people. That logic is insupportable.
Rather than attack the use of violence, it's more socially acceptable to attack the dissenter. Deference to authority is what allows people in search of power and influence to abuse this system and cause great death and destruction, yet people feel less compassion for their part in the support of the system that kills many people than they do for their hatred of those who appear to cheat the rule of a violent law. Such law is never acceptable. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://www.usavsus.info/
- dshPls, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Why does it matter? We're all paying while they get to slack off and enjoy the same benifits of the government as us, that's why.
