http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=2411 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -24/+241What’s up with it, Vanilla face? Me and my homie Azamat just parked our slab outside. We’re looking for somewhere to post up our Black asses for the night. So, uh, bang bang, skeet skeet, *****. Just a couple of pimps, no hos.
- MrDash001, on 10/12/2007, -30/+243Shut up Nig... Oh wait I can't say that
Shut up crackers. Now thats socially acceptable - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+213al sharpton is only out to promote himself, he doesn't give a ***** about black people. if he did he'd stop trying to blame whitey for everything and he'd turn to to the real issues that are holding his race back maybe some leeway would be made.
how come when sharpton wants to raise hell about an issue that really doesn't have much if any racial implication he gets all the media attention he wants, but when cosby has some real ***** to say he's treated like a race traitor?
really, this issue is a pretty deep rooted one, and getting into it any further will just result in a virtual avalanche of hippy PC diggers calling me racist (because they like to bury their head in the sand). but if race issues in this country are going to ever be solved we have start with the people in the forefront that spew hypocrisy every time they open their mouths. - musicaltech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+163You know the funny thing about racial tension? It's all about perception, has nothing to do with a person's actual race.
I can't tell you how many times I got pulled down to the Principle's office in High School for ripping on my friend's races. See, I've got a pretty odd sense of humor. One day I came up behind a very good black friend of mine (who weighed a good 150 more then me, and could probably kick my ass in a heartbeat) and said, "Man, I can't stand those black people...". Apparently I said it loud enough for an administrator to hear, and even though my friend was laughing his ass off, I still got detention.
A couple of weeks later, I said something similar to a Puerto Rican friend of mine. Came up behind him and called him a "Spic-a-rican". Got in bucket loads of trouble for that one, and they were talking about expelling me for it.
The kicker to all of this is that I'm Puerto Rican, and that term (Spic-a-rican, that is) is something I've used on myself and my family in a joking manner tons of times. But I listen to white music (mostly Rock or Alternative, can't stand Country music) and don't talk like I came from the ghetto, so people assume I'm just a white guy with a tan. All of a sudden it's wrong because of the perception that a 'white' guy could say something like that to a 'minority'.
Lets break this down just a bit more though. I'm Puerto Rican. That means I'm about as much of a mutt as it comes. Why the hell would I ever be considered racist? I'm every fugging race out there. People are too ***** sensitive, grow the hell up. - Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+157"how come when sharpton wants to raise hell about an issue that really doesn't have much if any racial implication he gets all the media attention he wants, but when cosby has some real ***** to say he's treated like a race traitor?"
Because Sharpton tells blacks what they want to hear - that they're victims and society owes them, while Cosby is telling them what they don't want to hear - that nobody is going to give them anything for free and that they need to work if they want to better themselves. - drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -6/+154To all the white people here Not all us blacks follow these two DICKS Jesse and Al .I know Imus isnt a racist I use to love his show till I had to switch shifts he said nothing worst than any rap video in the past 10 years have
- spyd3rweb, on 10/12/2007, -18/+143crackers = white slave owners that 'crack' the whip...
why any black person would think that is an insult i have no idea. - loki440, on 10/12/2007, -2/+87@tyrannysucks
I'm a black guy and believe it or not I totally agree with you. This whole thing with Imus is utter *****. It was a joke. I don't want to hear Imus apologize. I don't want to see him grovel. I honestly don't care if he thinks ALL black women are nappy headed hoes, because his opinion means nothing to me.
As black people are we so fragile that a half-assed joke from a washed-up radio personality can throw us in a tizzy!
***** you Al Sharpton for parading Imus on your program. If you were really down for your people, you'd stop focusing on ***** like this and address some real issues. - Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -10/+90"crackers = white slave owners that 'crack' the whip..."
You have it all wrong mate. It means: cruchy sugary sweet buttermilk food made to resemeble animals.

- ScornForSega, on 10/12/2007, -8/+78"Al Sharpton doesn't care about black people."
Quick, someone make a YTMND! - Comatose51, on 10/12/2007, -2/+66I don't get this. Why does Sharpton act like he's the emperor of African Americans? Who appointed him their speaker? Al Sharpton doesn't represent all black people and we should stop treating him as such. I remember when some white teenage girls were beaten by some black kids, there were black leaders saying that they should be punished for hate crime. Don't mix up one person with a whole group of people. Al Sharpton might be a hypocrite but not all African Americans are.
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+56Its only racism if the person saying it is white, Its been that way for a while now.
I love the idea that "You whites were in control before, now it's my turn" *****. Sorry, You don't punish the son for the sins of the father. Thats not how it works. Get over it.
Also, How did we get where we are today anyways. It seems that at some point in the mid 80's, some imaginary rule came into play that says that everyone has the right to never be offended. Sorry folks, thats not the way it works. If your offended, tough *****. Grow a Pair.
The only way an insult should ever affect you in the least bit is if its true. If I call you a *****, a spic, an *****, a ***** (personal favorite) ... it shouldnt matter. If its not true, and you actually have a spine, it shouldnt bother you. If it is true, then you have more problems to worry about than what people are calling you.
I'm white, So i can't pretend to actually know what its like to be a black guy, or any other race (well, actually, im cherokee majority, but my "people" are a bunch of alcholics living off of government handouts, so i dont really like to claim that), but I know one thing is true. I am NOT my race. My race doesnt define me. I honestly don't even consider race a factor in almost anything. When I look at someone, skin color doesnt phase me at all. Appearance does. If your dressed like a wanna-be thuglett in all [insert your current favorite rapper's clothes line here] ... my first impression of you is going to be that of a punk...has nothing to do with race though.
The only way we will EVER get over our race problems in america is to take race completely out of power. Seriously, no laws, no lobbyists, no handouts, no minority scholorships. These thigns do nothing but provide crutches for the weak, and give other people something to be pissed off about, furthering the tension. (on the note of minority scholarships, a college near me gives them to whites, because the school is predomanently black...and the black students there are pissed off too, it works both ways)
Stop bitching, get the ***** along already. We have enough to fight outside of our borders and in our government to still be fighting amongst ourselves after all this time. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+53Why would you date someone with 3 kids, no phone and no car? You need a minimum set of standards.
- YoDiggity2, on 10/12/2007, -12/+60And when he tells you you ain't nuttin don't believe him
And if he can't learn to love you you should leave him
Cause sista you don't need him
And I ain't tryin to gas ya up, I just call em how I see em
You know it makes me unhappy (what's that)
When brothas make babies, and leave a young mother to be a pappy
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't we'll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you're fed up ladies, but keep your head up

Well, Sharpton calling Imus on his comment while giving black men a free pass is a good start. The hubbub over Cosby's comments on education a year or two ago is another one. Are you really that blind, or do you just automatically react negatively to any comment that doesn't fit the current PC vogue? - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40- Jesse Jackson is not the emperor of black people!
- He told my dad he was... - whiterabbitobj, on 10/12/2007, -5/+43It's too bad that most people don't share your point of view, be they black, white, yellow, rainbow, et al. People have a complex about anything that impinges on their nice little PC world these days. And unfortunately, those people also have nothing better to do with their time than cry about it to anyone who will listen.
- red2626, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35I'm sorry, that as out of line. But the stats are sound. That's all I have going for me at this point.

Anyway, digg the first comment down, it was wrong and deserves it. I'm feeling ashamed of it. - jfpwr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32Saying Al Sharpton represents the black community is like saying Justin Long represents the apple community... Maybe on T.V...
- slickhare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Why do people feel the need to generalize about the black race whenever these issues come up? Not black people are in some hive mind with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, not all black people run around calling white people crackers, not all black people condone the use of the N word, and not all of us are running around crying racism when things don't go our way.

"but at the same time, don't you think something must be done to, maybe compensate for past misdeeds?"
The answer to that hinges completely around the scope of "past."
What past? As in, African slaves hundreds of years ago? No. Nobody deserves anything.
The children of said slaves? Nothing. Not a penny, not an apology.
Their grandchildren? Nothing.
What about Japanese that were put into internment camps during WW2? Yup. Bigtime apology. Compensation.
See the pattern? If someone alive right now did a misdeed to someone also alive right now, I see apology and compensation as reasonable and just.
If both parties who were directly involved in injustice are dead, then what you have is one group trying to capitalize on this to their own gain. They don't give a ***** about their parents/grandparents/distant ancestors; they just want some money for free, or they've been brought up to believe they are entitled to something they didn't earn.
And it will never change. - tendonut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27"don't you think something must be done to, maybe compensate for past misdeeds?"
I'm Scottish and I demand compensation for the mistreatment my people had from the British hundreds of years ago!
Why do so many people who play the race card (any race, not just black people) feel that the world must bend over backwards and given them anything they want? I have to work my ass off for what I have and want. Oh boo hoo, someone said a racist joke against you! So the world must pave a golden brick road for you from now on? How about you earn the respect you want so desperately instead of demanding it? As for the black people who want compensation for slavery, if you were a slave, I'll compensate you. If you never knew what slavery was like, ***** off. How many people who play that game even have family who WAS a slave? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25It's quite interesting how South Park just covered this very thing. Except the ass kissing was done to Jesse Jackson not Al Sharpton.

What happened to good rap like that... ;( - diggduggjoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25I dated her for I saw the woman she could have been not the woman she was. Sometimes you make that mistake for love. I did not date her for long, reality quickly set in and I found a woman who was much more of a match without any incubation time. That is how life goes. You get to work from the menu you are offered much of the time. On occasion, you get an option that sounds better than it is. Other times, you find an item that far exceeds your expectations. I have experienced both.
- Prysorra, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Blame the woman, not her skin, damnit.
- HarryBauzonia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22"Reverend" Al Sharpton no more represents blacks than "Reverend" Jerry Falwell represents whites.

edit: oh, goddammit - anastrophe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26the thing i don't understand is why sharpton and jackson (i like the sound of that - Sharpton, Jackson, & Extortion, LLC) - why haven't they gone after paris hilton for her incredibly racist ***** that was all caught on tape? she's made out of $$$$$$, they could clean up going after her. but there's been not a peep about it.
what's the deal? do they figure going after expensive white trash wouldn't help their 'movement'? - diggduggjoe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24The PC crap is so lame. I dated a black woman and we had differences. One was the reparation crap. I tried to explain that 75% of my family immigrated post civil war. That made no sense to her. I had white skin, so I was guilty. I was no simple part timer, either. She had me meet her family. I really felt, we could have made it past the obstacles..
Black people were in a horrible state because of white people, yet on payday she was her cashing her paycheck at a bar for a fee for she had no bank. We got weed, cigs and beer before I dropped her off at her apartment where she had no phone, yet she had 3 kids. If, any child had an emergency she would have had to knock on door after door looking for someone who choosed to have a phone over vices. The real irony is I discovered the woman who became my wife once I was put on 2nd shift. She had no phone, so I had zero contact with her. I am sure my black girlfriend thought I as a dick, but did she ever consider that her choices made it very likely I would find someone else? What guy would not want to phone his babe? - fubuvsfitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19BlueberryYumYum must not pay attention to either Sharpton or Cosby at all, ever. Geez. You want evidence? Try Youtube for Cosby, Wikipedia for Sharpton's platform. Or hell, even Sharpton's own personal site. Google it.

I'm tempted to say "Rich Tea", but it doesn't have the right ring to it.
@Blueberryyumyum : GTFO cracker, I'm trying to sit on my ***** sofa. - vampiregabe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23I am white male, got involved, and almost married a black woman. We didn't because we were in the military and had orders to opposite ends of the country (Seattle and Norfolk), and the military refused to station us together. She later told me that she missed still being in a relationship with me, and regretted not getting married to me, because I treated her so much better than the average black male.
So I somewhat agree with the OP's comments, from what I have seen firsthand. White men do respect more than their black counterparts on average, and we are expected too.
I have been discriminated against for being involved with a black woman, in California no less.

Oh shuuuut the fuuuuuck up.
I'm still waiting for someone to explain how "nappy headed" is now all of a sudden "racist". Last I checked, white people can have nappy hair too. I'm one of them - good old Sicilian heritage blessed me with a full head of nappy *****. My wife has big lips and a nice fat ass... am I allowed to say that or does that sound racist too?
When Paul Mooney talks about white women, it's a barrel of laughs though.. When Imus makes a single comment, he needs to be fired, publically humiliated and called a racist. AMIRITE? - boituma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17diggduggjoe is wise and decent. too bad that doesn't cut it on digg...

I like your comments and I understand the rationale behind them. But the reality of the situation is that it was a joke. It was a bad joke, but a joke nonetheless.
Everyone---and I do mean everyone--- will at some point in their life say something that could be considered hurtful to one group or another. Sometimes it will be in the name of humor, sometimes it will be out of ignorance and unfortunately sometimes it will be done out of spite. It's called being human.
So are we to crucify everyone who makes a stupid racial joke? As I stated earlier I'm black. I've attended primarily white schools and worked in professional environments that were almost all exclusively white. If I got down in the mud with every white person that made some stupid comment about black people to me I would have a miserable life.
As black people, hell as PEOPLE, we should become more responsible for our own feelings. A bad joke from Don Imus cannot make me feel bad about myself. When you make someone like him responsible for your feelings, then you really are powerless. -
