- Blinker1315, on 07/19/2009, -7/+46Murtha's toast. When the New York Times, between the lines, says Pelosi ought to ditch him, it's all over. And good riddance.
- sailhardy, on 07/19/2009, -4/+40No doubt all but a few parasites would be better off if Mr. Murtha were living in a federal suite next to Bernie Madoff. However, the earmark mess deserves far more attention from editorial writers. While I doubt The New York Times wants to regress to being a non-partisan or bi-partisan newspaper, the fact is the earmarks are a form of corrupting our laws. Take Chris Dodd, please. He profited from his central role in Senate taxation and banking oversight by gaining sweetheart mortgages. Why do I have to pay for this? Murtha is arrogant and a high maintenance Congressman. Time to unload him, but he is simply a bloated symbol of what is wrong with our entire way of government.
- rda1441, on 07/20/2009, -5/+22Murtha should be in jail for his treatment of the Marine Corp...let alone his unethical and illegal activity as a Congressman.
Old Worthless Thug. - gnixon70, on 07/20/2009, -5/+20This is the same guy that condemned our marines before they even went to trial. Yea, the sooner this bastards out the better.
- Blinker1315, on 07/19/2009, -3/+17Couldn't agree more, and Chris Dodd (D-Countrywide) won't have another term from CT, whether a Democrat defeats him in a primary or Republican in the general election. My point was that when a Democratic pol is upended by the Times, you know his or her career in public service is kaput.
- RungeKutta, on 07/20/2009, -1/+13Either you're a moron, or more likely a stupid troll - with that try harder next time.
- medallions, on 07/20/2009, -4/+15Murtha is done. He'll become a slut for a lobbyist group..
- macromorgan, on 07/20/2009, -4/+14Wait, Democrats don't do anything wrong. What is this, bizarro world?
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -5/+15You think thats bad? I live in PA next to Murtha's district, and word is that he tried to get his opponent (a reservist officer) in the next election recalled to active duty. Supposedly the officer's C.O. is going to testify against Murtha in court. Plus, there is the "John Murtha Airport", which is a much bigger waste of money than the bridge to nowhere. Murtha's pet airport is probably the biggest waste of government money I can think of, ever. It keeps getting bigger, and only has like 2 flights per day. The airport to nowhere.
- StinkyPete312, on 07/20/2009, -3/+13and people are just now realizing murtha is a piece of *****?
and by the way, whining about cheney and bush while obama is president is just as laughable as republicans whining about clinton when bush was elected. get over it. your guy is now president. deal with it. - scoottie, on 07/20/2009, -3/+13Damn those Republican Conservatives .... oh wait
- Racerx52, on 07/20/2009, -1/+10Murtha is as crooked as an F1 track, And has been since my grandmother was young. Every time we turn on the news around here (Johnstown, PA) there is some piece on about him either under investigation or bringing "new" gov contracting jobs in. He's a career criminal.
- lead2thehead, on 07/20/2009, -1/+10Buried for Rethuglican. Take your immature name-calling elsewhere.
- mgraves81, on 07/20/2009, -5/+13Marines = Guilty without trial according to Murtha
Terrorists = Need trial, wrongly imprisoned, not threatening and should be let go according to Murtha.
Yep, makes perfect sense to me. - lead2thehead, on 07/20/2009, -3/+11He's also really obnoxious. Nobody likes Murtha because he's constantly making stupid, inflammatory comments.
- atomheartmother, on 07/20/2009, -14/+22As Democrats and corruption go, Murtha's middle of the road. How is he any worse than Frank, Dodd or a whole host of other Democriminals?
- mgraves81, on 07/20/2009, -3/+11Odd...that's what I thought he is now...
- TheInformer, on 07/20/2009, -3/+10The Culture of Corruption is alive and well in the Democratic Party.
- atomheartmother, on 07/20/2009, -0/+7"Our great leader?" Jesus, there's a place of prominence for you in North Korea, comrade.
- atomheartmother, on 07/20/2009, -4/+10Sorry, but Pelosi et all were elected on a platform of "draining the swamp" of corruption. All that seems to be left are the Democratic Swamp Things.
Besides, that doesn't have nearly as nice a ring to it. - atomheartmother, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6And let's not forget that there's only one major political party with a former KKK member within it's ranks, and it's not the GOP.
- catdawg555, on 07/20/2009, -1/+68 yrs ? where the hell you been this craps a lot older then the Bush administration . What does it matter if there Rep or Dem or any other party org if there corrupt throw the M.F.'s out!
- TheDougem, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6@DangerCollie
Plenty of us have been on edge about ethics from both sides of the bench for a while. But that's besides the point - Murtha's problems are old problems.
You're trying to make this a partisan issue. It very clearly isn't. I at least acknowledge there is extreme corruption across both parties, however - Murtha is one of the worst offenders, and he happens to be a democrat. Before you rage against me for being conservative, I didn't like Ted Stevens much either. - LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6no need to be partisan. the Culture of Corruption is hardly starving in the Republican party. We need to see the rise of third parties.
- RichStradler, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6I say that it's not a party issue squabble at all but one of ethics. Ethics and good clean government should cut across partisan lines. -An Independent
- mgraves81, on 07/20/2009, -5/+9Murtha, alone, can make the case for Congressional term-limits. Not to say that he is the only crook in D.C., but to make the case one need not much further proof than this clown.
I am just thankful I live in Pittsburgh and not in his district. His representation would be reason enough to move. - LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -1/+5I love it when idiots call the Republicans racist when, in fact, the KKK was founded as a Democrat organization, and in fact would attack white republicans for siding with blacks on civil rights issues.
- atomheartmother, on 07/20/2009, -5/+8Is that all you Regressives EVER have? The "but Bush was so awful too" line? Like the Dems would ever hesitate to investigate any Republican they have a shred of evidence against.Give me a ***** break.
- mgraves81, on 07/20/2009, -3/+6It's true. Although it didn't grab national headlines. I think someone should call Murtha back to active duty.
- atomheartmother, on 07/20/2009, -3/+6The Dems have had Congress for over two years now, genius. You really are brainwashed, aren't you?
- mrjdavila, on 07/20/2009, -1/+4I think it is time to impose term limits. Both, the REDS and BLUES, just make careers out of ripping-off the people.
- LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -1/+4@danger. some of us were screaming about the abuses of the bush administration too, but partisan hacks like you conveniently forget when you can finally start pulling you holier-than-thou ***** now that your guy is in office.
- mrjdavila, on 07/20/2009, -1/+3I thought Democrats were above reproach... my God what is this world coming to??
- atomheartmother, on 07/20/2009, -4/+6Yeah right, bubgz.... I just took a look at some of your comments. You're not partisan at all, huh.
- RungeKutta, on 07/20/2009, -4/+5I fully agree.
Murtha probably is issuing a lot of pork barrel (hopefully that's it) in the form of earmarks; which is pretty crappy of him and someone needs to call him on that. But in the grand scheme of things, any time someone made a statement about the Bush Administration or Republican corruption over the last 8 years (especially the first 6) it resulted in them being ridiculed by many people on the right as a petty liberal partisan who's just upset they're not in control, anti-american, terrorist-sympathizers, or by some more extreme loonies - traitors. - LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2the original intention of earmarks are not a form of corruption. they are a way for congress to say exactly how that money is used. the way most of congress is using the earmark system, now that is corruption.
- LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2as much as I would hate to see Ron Paul go, there needs to be strict term limits for all elected officials.
- TheInformer, on 07/20/2009, -2/+3Agreed, but the Media only portrays the Culture as being a Republican problem and -never- a Democrat one.
- mrbuddy, on 07/30/2009, -0/+1I respect and support President Obama:: He certainly is stirring up DC and the transperancy is flowing!!Support our president and vote out the corruption and look for educated 40-50 year old intelligent thinking candidates. Age limit should be put on Congress!!!Poor Mr. Holder--can he find enough special prosecutors!!
- lead2thehead, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2Let us also not forget that it was a Republican president who abolished slavery.
- lead2thehead, on 07/20/2009, -3/+3>> The Republicans did more to ruin this country over the last 8 years than the Democrats could ever hope for.
Do you have any idea how much money Obama has spent so far? I'll give you a hint... it's more than Bush spent on the entire Iraq war. - FredFredrickson, on 07/20/2009, -8/+7What about the Republicriminals?
Do you see how idiotic the name-calling sounds? - LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -5/+4no, i have to say he's right, they're all criminals. The republicans did a lot of bad things the last 8 years.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/20/2009, -7/+3The Republicans did more to ruin this country over the last 8 years than the Democrats could ever hope for.
- bubgz, on 07/20/2009, -6/+1Well, it's good to see the partisans are all over this debate.
- RungeKutta, on 07/20/2009, -9/+4I completely agree INACTIVE. It's about time someone realized that Ron Paul needs to go.
- DangerCollie, on 07/20/2009, -19/+11I'll back an ethics investigation for Murtha when Dick Cheney is sitting in a jail cell. You hypocrites didn't say a word about the corruption during the Bush years, now you're hot ***** ethical crusaders.
You're only up on ethics so you can try to score political points. You're hypocrites and everyone knows that now. Corruption won't stop if you get back in the game, the checks will merely have a new name after PAY TO THE ORDER OF. It would be the K Street Project all over again...I don't remember hearing you bark about ethics in those days, either.
Start with the log in your own eye before you start picking at saw dust in someone else's.
You're all worthless. You lost any right to complain about ethics after keeping silent for 8 years. You're not going to fool anyone again. - AaronS2000, on 07/20/2009, -11/+1Paid Schills. LOL
