- paperclipsNsoup, on 05/11/2008, -1/+108Pipe/Bong section at Wal-Mart?
- NikoKun, on 05/11/2008, -2/+79It would certainly decrease the black market drug cartel involvement with it... As well as take the inner city gangs out of the equation as well. Sequentially crime and violence would decrease, in relation to Marijuana. Legal and regulated shops could sell it, effectively kicking the black market out.
- reeder, on 05/11/2008, -3/+70The real reason police departments don't want marijuana legal is because they would lose a huge amount of drug funding, as well as all the money they get from busts.
85% of all illegal drug activity in the US comes from marijuana use. Law enforcement officials always use marijuana busts to massively augment their "War on Drugs" statistics. Every single time you read a headline that states "Huge Drug Bust!" you can guarantee it is a pot bust. They always label the busts as cocaine, methamphetamines, etc. when it is otherwise. Just another MSM trick to pull the wool over our eyes. - Shogi, on 05/11/2008, -1/+64Well, we'd have a lot more space in prison.
- spaceman84, on 05/11/2008, -2/+61Wrong. Mexico would be even more broke because we'd be growing it here.
- mentallyinhell, on 05/11/2008, -0/+56You take away pot, and gangs lose a lot of money. Drug dealers lose business when you can buy the same ***** at a corner store.
- minnymoo, on 05/11/2008, -1/+43half off on 4/20.
- zip22, on 05/11/2008, -1/+42why would people buy it from gangs if they could purchase it legitimately? there would be no demand for the gangs to feed off of.
- thirdcoastborn, on 05/11/2008, -16/+56Mexico would no longer be a third world country.
- GhostWithToast, on 05/11/2008, -6/+43All drugs should be legal and regulated. Making drugs illegal CREATES crime and criminals. The most destructive drug, alcohol, is legal, and people are only punished for their criminal actions while under the influence, not because they are under the influence. Makes more sense. Weed is the most innocuous of all the drugs. Should be the first one decriminalized.
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -3/+29digga please
- skippyoh, on 05/11/2008, -5/+30Why would we get it from mexico? Their weed is practically dirt.
- skippyoh, on 05/11/2008, -8/+35I would be a very happy girl.
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -4/+29Dugg for using "were" instead the erroneous "was".
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -6/+30I would get so high
- tehbored, on 05/11/2008, -0/+22It would be like an all out holocaust against delicious snacks.
- 1kewldude, on 05/11/2008, -3/+26Only cars on the road would be food delivery!
- ajb2015, on 05/11/2008, -0/+21Or really slow, courteous people using signals, and checking blind spots 3 times before lane changes.
- enntee, on 05/11/2008, -0/+19Good point. Also, we should go to war to create more jobs in the military.
- ANT1138, on 05/11/2008, -2/+21Exactly. The opposite of what holosoth said is true. keeping marijuana illegal increases gang violence.
- calantus, on 05/11/2008, -0/+22nothing, because everyone who would smoke it already do.
- Raisedshoulder, on 05/11/2008, -1/+20Plus weed from Mexico sucks. Not that I had any experience with it. I just heard from someone....
- LordStandley, on 05/11/2008, -3/+22Leagalize it already, Jesus Christ!
Unfortunately there probably wont be a day when the Government fesses up and says, "you're right America, we know it's harmless and no, black men wont rape white women after smoking it. We made all that ***** up because of one powerful guy who paid off the right people in political power at the time. Sorry, smoke up."
Marijuana has never been the cause of, nor DIRECTLY linked to a single death in the history of man. Something to think about for the opposition - robbiemuffin, on 05/11/2008, -0/+16lol, alleged weed from mexico theoretically sucks. :)
- evozero, on 05/11/2008, -1/+19Yeah... just what we need. I can see it already... "Wal-mart has recalled their line of bongs this week under fears that the mouthpieces may contain excessive levels of lead".
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -3/+19Buried for being a loser guy hitting on random internet girls.
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -0/+17Thats why you gotta go glass all the way man.

- notoneofus, on 05/11/2008, -0/+15All driving slowly.
- Unriggable, on 05/11/2008, -0/+13We don't have to be potheads to see a ***** law, in the same way that you don't have to be a drinker to realize prohibition was a bad idea.
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -0/+12Oh and don't forget about filling the nation's jails with nonviolent drug offenders...that would pretty much be over with.
- MioTheGreat, on 05/11/2008, -0/+13Jobs are made obsolete all the time, and it shouldn't be a factor in deciding whether or not marijuana is legalized.
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -0/+13And the government makes money by taxing it just like they do cigarettes and alcohol.
- Shakermaker, on 05/11/2008, -0/+11British Columbia would be the #1 tourist destination in North America.
/BC bud FTW - gs68, on 05/11/2008, -2/+14I never understood why pot, which has taken no lives so far, is banned outright, yet alcohol, which simply requires you to be 21 or up to buy, is a known contributor to heart and liver diseases. Outside of money for the police, a ban on pot has no practical use.
- eavesdrop, on 05/11/2008, -1/+11Yeah because Mexican marijuana growers distribute their wealth in the first place?
- Klisk, on 05/11/2008, -1/+10Harder drugs exist, this is true. But. It wouldn't increase sales if only make them retain their current pace/speed/value. Marijuana is likely 80% of what people are getting "busted" for these days, and it shows when our jails are filled with people who just like to smoke something that hurts them less than cigarrettes.
- z3r0c0O1, on 05/11/2008, -1/+10Everyone would be a lot happier.
- mattwalton56, on 05/11/2008, -1/+10I am not a pot smoker, but, if it were legal the world would be better in so many ways.
- tactics2, on 05/11/2008, -1/+10The Feds spend 9 billion a year fighting marijuana. Then there's all the money the states spend on enforcement and imprisonment. If we legalized it and taxed it, we could provide free health care for every man, woman, and child in the U.S. And alcohol causes a whole lot more health, economic, and criminal problems than pot ever will.
- IllBeBack, on 05/11/2008, -0/+9You can get lead into glass as well.
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -0/+10Well Mexico would definitely be better off without all their gang war violence in and near border towns.
- ejpusa, on 05/11/2008, -2/+14And how many corrections officers would be IMMEDIATELY out of work? Things to ponder. :-)
- DrWho520, on 05/11/2008, -2/+11Is alcohol really more destructive than cocaine or crack or heroin? As far as a I know, all three of those drugs are much more physically addicting than alcohol. They all (yes, including alcohol) cause major health issues.
"not because they are under the influence..." Untrue, public intoxication is a crime in many municipalities as is underage intoxication, although the second is a special circumstance. - toastgodsupreme, on 05/11/2008, -1/+10Wrong.
I have friends who smoke weed. Even my girlfriend does. Most of them don't do anything beyond that and never will as far as I know.
If weed gets legalized, it doesn't make the "next drug in line" suddenly the best thing to do.
Alcohol is a drug. Do you find alcohol LESS dangerous than marijuana? How many people die in alcohol related incidents? From drunk driving, to crimes commited while under the influence. Now how many deaths do you think there are by people under the influence of marijuana?
And all my friends who've talked to me about the subject have all said that the majority of people, when high on marijuana, don't want to do *****. They want to sit around, watching tv and laugh and just mellow out. They don't want to go out and kill people or commit crimes.
Lastly, when have you ever known a marijuana junkie? I've never even heard of someone, even in the press who has sucked dick for some weed. So how exactly do you compare it to hard drugs like crack, cocaine, meth, etc which produce a notable and documented addiction? Marijuana is in line with alcohol (which is more dangerous) and tobacco.
Right now, the reason marijuana is deemed so bad is because of the images it conjures up in the minds of the populous. That only lower class black people use it which is NOT true at all. But then, if you were poor, discriminated against, and lived in an area known for it's homicide rates, wouldn't you want to just get high and try to forget how ***** things are?
I don't smoke, I don't drink (for almost two years now), I don't do drugs, and even I can see that the pros far outweigh the cons in the legalization of marijuana. - PhilLesh69, on 05/11/2008, -0/+8Not to mention once it is sold in stores, fewer teenagers would be able to get access to it.
I smoked pot before I drank alcohol because I couldn't get alcohol as easily as I could get pot. Because Alcohol was legally sold in a store where they asked for ID, and I could buy weed from some guy at my high school who never bothered to ask for ID. - inactive, on 05/11/2008, -0/+7I suspect that you're already a very happy girl.
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -0/+8Actually one could argue that drugs that cause violent behavior (such as alcohol for some) should be illegal. But nobody high on weed has ever been accused of being violent. Maybe violently destroying a bag of Doritos and a Moutain Dew but other than that they aren't violent.
- RodgerE1, on 05/11/2008, -1/+9The government would tax the hell out of it! I'm surprised it's not legal due to the money politicians would make.
