- dfross, on 03/22/2009, -16/+67"Pakistan has nuclear weapons and a government disconnected from the poverty, malnutrition, and lack of healthcare afflicting its people."
Sounds like the USA, though at least there they don't have fundamental religious zealots trying to set the state agenda.
Oh wait. - DeadFox1, on 03/22/2009, -7/+48I coulda swore that we (usa) were going to be the topic of that movie trailer.
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -3/+17It's different because the USA have actually used nuclear weapons against civilians.
You know, women, babies, etc. - inactive, on 03/22/2009, -12/+23I don't see why he is getting dugg down, he is right we are the most dangerous threat to the world today. I suspect everyone digging him down actually live in the United States and quickly can't accept the fact that their government are beaurucratic terrorists with different methods of assimilation and domination, that are never usually never displayed to the public. Believe me the CIA and Homeland security are not transparent organizations that follow world standards, if you don't believe that then you are sorely naive.
Don't get me wrong, I love my country, and i love their capacity to be great, philanthropic people, but given its state of power, those in positions to exploit that power are the ones who usually ruin the image of our respectability for the rest of the world - maddogger, on 03/20/2009, -5/+16Filmmaker Robert Greenwald will be going to Afghanistan. You can follow him on Twitter.
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -12/+22"Pakistan has nuclear weapons and a government disconnected from the poverty, malnutrition, and lack of healthcare afflicting its people."
So how is this any different than the United States of America? - dwerf, on 03/22/2009, -1/+10Yes, but malnutrition it is either way...
- withoutamartyr, on 03/22/2009, -0/+8I'm not entirely sure what it is that you just said.
- jeffiek, on 03/22/2009, -2/+10You are in Pakistan. You have a computer and internet (or at least access).
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you're not exactly the typical Pakistani.
Many people, myself included, tend to forget that their particular situation is not necessarily indicative of the whole area. Some people are less fortunate, some more fortunate.
Anyway, end of ramble. Good luck to you and your country. - CoD4, on 03/22/2009, -1/+8America's problems are nowhere near the problems people in third world countries face every day.
It's sad that america's enonomy has to be bad for people to realize this - Monotonousblob, on 03/20/2009, -11/+18Countries with that high a magnitude of problems make even America's situation look bright in comparison.
- rpapi100, on 03/22/2009, -1/+8Comprehension and fear are mutually exclusive.
That said, Pakistan is certainly a hot spot.
Is a ''surgical strike'' in the northern provinces against Al-Q a good move?
Will it help stabilize the country or will it push it over the edge and into an ''Afghanistan pre-invasion'' state?
What role can and will play India in all this? Can peace with India help stabilize the region?
Is peace with India possible?
Is Al-Q going to benefit from a US intervention or is it possible to play a role in that area without escalation?
Would it be better if a developing power (or an Arab power (from the Magreb for example)) that has no historical ties to the region take the lead in Pakistan as a proxy for the West? Would it change anything?
So many questions, so little answers... and maybe, so little time as well. - inactive, on 03/22/2009, -1/+6"Europe should be goose stepping to the nazis and speaking German"
LOL. I love that 'we saved your ass in WW2' *****. I always remind people who say this that the allies had already won the Battle of Britain and kept the Nazis at bay for a couple of years. The US came in half way through, with fresh troops and materiel after telling the allies they were on their own for so long. Wait a minute, isn't that the way *pussies* fight? Only with certainty of numerical superiority, or after they have received their own humiliation? Wait, that's the way the US *always* conducts a war. Silly me.
BTW, your god doesn't exist. The US was not intended by the Founding Fathers to be a Christian nation. Hence the quote from the Treaty of Tripoli "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion" - a clear admission by the United States in 1797 that the government did not found itself upon Christianity. This treaty represented U.S. law as all U.S. Treaties do.
You're ***** out of luck. - seldon452, on 03/22/2009, -2/+7I'm all for bashing America but this is ridiculous. Have you ever actually been to Pakistan? Sure, that vague sentence may be used to draw similarities, but the United States and Pakistan are very different countries and, while both have poverty, they are on different scales.
- logpony, on 03/22/2009, -0/+5I'm not going to lie, I am poorly versed in global politics. I do, however, have some rudimentary ideas about filmmaking...
Generally, black and white shots of people while panning out combined with booming noises of danger sets off my "holy ***** bad propaganda video" sensors.... - saadghauri, on 03/22/2009, -8/+13This isn't really true. The people here are leading normal lives.
I think there are many countries where the people are in much more danger. - Julian88888888, on 03/22/2009, -2/+6I think the malnutrition part is a little different there then it is here. . .
- m3arvk, on 03/22/2009, -38/+42My vote is the USA.
- CaptZomborg, on 03/22/2009, -1/+5I think he's saying that people suffering if Pakistan don't actually know they are suffering unless they are given perspective from the outside world.
Whether that is true or not, it is not what the video was about. It was about Pakistan being a country that has nuclear arms yet is out of control. It had nothing to do with the living conditions of its people. - DonAlfred, on 03/22/2009, -3/+7What Is "the Most Dangerous Country in the World Today?"....... America........
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -1/+5scare tactic to convience america is ok to go to war with another country...just like with iraq
- neko6, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4or most African and Arab dictatorships for that matter...
- aufte, on 03/22/2009, -3/+7@maline and drnimrod,
You two are prime examples of why people see you as a threat, those are two of the dumbest comments I've ever read in my life and I've been known to surf eBaums. Warty said the only intelligent thing, so we can assume the correct statistics, smart Americans are outnumbered 2:1 by idiots like you two. - glitchbit, on 03/22/2009, -2/+6In the words of Jon Stewart
"It's not about you"
Now digg me up, I said Jon Stewart! - mkrygeri, on 03/22/2009, -4/+7So the authors of this film say that when troops leave everything will stabilize and open a new era of diplomacy with extremist Taliban border tribes? Makes perfect sense to me. Threat averted.
- aufte, on 03/22/2009, -8/+11http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/5077984. ...
- wonkavsn, on 03/22/2009, -2/+5Shut up or we'll water bomb you!
- lennon2600, on 03/22/2009, -4/+7I very much doubt Pakistan is the most dangerous, though that makes for a good headline. I hear Somalia is truly hell on Earth.
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_i ... - purag66, on 05/13/2009, -0/+3Considering the popularity of Bollywood movies in Pakistan and the stark visible differences between how the filthy rich live in South Asia vs. how the commoners live, I think it's fair to say most Pakistanis fully understand their plight.
- cyberprunes, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4I don't think you understand the context in which the term dangerous is being applied.
- anokun7, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4I am not sure if everybody commenting watched the movie. It is nice, but was vague & felt incomplete... It seems to consider everything is Pakistan starts and ends with Aghanistan which might not be true. Wasn't Pakistan committing atrocities against its own population and India before Taliban came into power - YES!
Further for some reason China seems to have a soft spot towards Pakistan and tends to cast a blind eye to Pakistan's terrorist motives - compounding all that is their nuclear capability. IMO that entire region of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq is a very volatile and dangerous spot, the earlier it is taken care of, the better for this world and its peaceful existence. - inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Mine as well..We are the most dangerous country...
I admit to many times to be so ashamed of the way our country treats the world...Microsoft is an example,on a smaller scale,of just what this country really behaves like.
What out government says and what they do are two different things entirely. - max420, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4You fail to understand what the video is trying to tell you.
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3You underestimate the capabilities of Canada! No one knows what we're upto!
- DuMbGuM, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3I'd imagine Pakistan would be better than Zimbabwe under Mugabe.
- sereusx, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4wowsah156
sorry i digged you down my mistake. i do think we all need to remember who has used nukes...our country is in the hands of people who only concern is big $$$$. they have given their souls to greed and don't care about nuking anyone as long as it is not their family. They do not see a family of man. - BeerRules, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3Thats not the Middle East Pakistan is actually South Asia.
- emkaysmith, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4I read the headline to mean "dangerous to the residents," like strolling through a deserted city park alone after midnight. I'm not sure Pakistan qualifies in that sense. Mexico seems more likely these days to be more dangerous to its ordinary citizens.
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4To put it in context Pakistan is a third world country with nuclear weapons. Imagine those weapons under the control of the Taliban. SCARY.
- sassafras1232, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4Is it just me, or do the very first two quotes in this video directly contradict each other?
"If Afghanistan is unstable, then Pakistan is going to be unstable," then
"The real instability within Pakistan comes from within the Pakistani state."
Also, Verizon called, and they want their logo back... - DforSpiD, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4No...
Sure American politicians need to pull their head out of their arses and actually fix their foreign policy... but they are certainly not everyone's enemy.
It has become so cool to just blame all of the world's problem on America, but it's a fact that many nations are depending on the USA, and the USA has been pretty damn dependable overall... until pretty recently anyway...
True the attitude of ***** everyone else over to get ahead should stop... but that isn't exactly just an American problem... "***** you, I'm rich" seems to be their answer for everything these days...
So they aren't ***** perfect but I'm happy to have them around... - jakereilly, on 03/22/2009, -2/+4No, that is what is feels like to be a 9 year old french kid with Tourettes.
I feel sorry for you. - phramus, on 03/22/2009, -4/+6Texas.
- caireneguy, on 03/22/2009, -3/+5Amy and TheReport,
I truly respect your bravery! Because though you live "in the land of the free" you stand up for what you think, and and you can actually see through all the sensationalist media in your country.
I lived in the US, and I loved it, but I hated how the great friendly people were brainwashed by the media after 9/11, and started hating me for having a different skin color and having an accent! Reading your replies tells me that yes, there are people there who can actually think for themselves! - cyberprunes, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2This isn't about what country is the most dangerous to live in. Look beyond the headline please.
- equitium, on 03/22/2009, -1/+3English much?
- cyberprunes, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2I'll have this discussion all ***** day long. Always question authority. Always question government.
- guestaccount, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2We have to put up with McDonald's feeding us *****.
- diggdong, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2The French, the Germans and the British all went to the U.S. about AQ Khan. The U.S. response was we are putting him on a leash to find out who his connection are too. This is what happens when a country barters out their intelligentsia to a rogue state hell bent on 7th century rule - Safari Group.
- aufte, on 03/22/2009, -7/+9Malinse,
Is that what a 'real' conversation sounds like? It sounds like a poorly written, immature rant to the style of "well you're a big poopy-head." Do you even know what objective means? -
