- Tomboys, on 04/25/2008, -1/+9Hey that's kind of a cool site.
- Bukowsky, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3yea it really is... I just wish you didn't have to login & create an account just to have your vote saved.
- Wundur, on 04/25/2008, -4/+9Getting Bush and the neocons impeached should be the No1 priority.
- chaosium, on 04/26/2008, -0/+2No, ***** that. Fixing our selves, removing the influence of neocons and resolving our economy should be #1, no matter how much they deserve it, they will without a doubt weasel out of any possible situation. It's not worth it in terms of cost when the end result will be the same.
- GemStar38, on 04/25/2008, -0/+6I'm gonna make a list of the '5 best time-sucking sites on the web'. Digg would definitely be on my list
- BlueSunshine, on 04/25/2008, -2/+9I think the most important political issue is not hearing the word "change" one more time.
- DavidS9, on 04/25/2008, -2/+2Better plug your ears for the next few months then
- natdowner, on 04/25/2008, -3/+9It always bothers me how things like Gay Marriage and Medical Marijuana are considered top political issues in the US. Why are we wasting so much time debating about these issues when there is more important things, like the damaging war we're involved in or healthcare... or lack there of I should say. Who gives a crap whether gay's get married or sick people use a drug that takes away the pain. AMERICA - get your priorities straight will ya!?
- wishninja, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2fundies care and they are also calling the shots.
- dshPls, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4I voted for the economy...but then I had to register, too much effort.
- DavidS9, on 04/25/2008, -4/+2and thats whats wrong with this country
- GemStar38, on 04/25/2008, -1/+2you are so right
- DavidS9, on 04/25/2008, -4/+2and thats whats wrong with this country
- julianwan, on 04/25/2008, -0/+6Am I naive to think if we had better public education, those problems could solve themselves? I mean, with a more educated populous, America could break free of being so apathetic...
- GemStar38, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3You'll never get enough education. Some people pride themselves on their ignorance.
- julianwan, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2I agree with you even more having just read a few comments on youtube.
- WiseWeasel, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4Public education and reducing prison population definitely need to be on that list...
- chaosium, on 04/26/2008, -0/+2Decriminalization would definitely help our economy, and save countless billions of dollars.
- GemStar38, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3You'll never get enough education. Some people pride themselves on their ignorance.
- natdowner, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3I don't know if public education would really solve all these problems.. i mean education doesn't eliminate greed and let's be honest, a lot of the top political issues are issues because of someone's greed...
- GemStar38, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2Greed is a big issue too. Most politicians are more worried about raising money, getting re-elected and saying what they think their constituents want to hear that they are sadly out of touch with the people.
- coffee200am, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3Putting the Clintons in prison, making sure other countries really like us at any cost, putting rich people in prison, busing school kids to another part of town, gas rationing....like odd an even days, putting owners and CEOs of corporations in prison ( just U.S. corporations though), freeing all prisoners in US prisons (except rich people and CEO's), making sure the News Media reports news the way we want it or it's off to prison they go, ban all cars and motorbikes that run on oil (U.S.only)....so many issues...
- coffee200am, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3oh.....and make sure that people eat only certain foods and only a certain amount each day.
- chaosium, on 04/26/2008, -0/+1You're nuts.
- coffee200am, on 04/26/2008, -0/+2You can't eat those! They cause allergies!!!!
- Bukowsky, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Obviously it varies for everyone, based on their own situation... but I don't think "Impeaching Bush" should be a top priority. As much as I despise him, whats the point in impeachment? The damage is already done. He's already ***** up everything.. Why waste MORE resources trying to impeach him, when we have REAL issues that need attention.
Education. Environment. Homelessness. AIDS. Renewable/Sustainable Energy.
He's a lame duck with a democratic congress... Let's move forward already. - wishninja, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3Americans, they can't see the 800lb gorilla in the room is the war on drugs! The Drug war is easily connected to and at the very least partially responsible for every problem on that list. It is also related to many of the issues. I will do the first five:
1. Global warming- Drug war has pushed farmers deep into the rain forests in South America and into public forests in North America. It may not be a main factor but there the drug war is a contributor. Plan columbia sprayed round up on 139,000 hectares and the number of cultivated hectars increased the next year on newly deforested land. It happens every year.
2. Economy- Everything from taxes to the siphon of money heading into the black market weakens the economy. Small time drug users are denied benefits that to improve their education, they are denied jobs the toll is a massive drag on the economy.
3. Health care- With natural medicines banned, costs are much higher. A few opium plants or marijuana plants would reduce doctors visits and reduce doctor shopping. There are also many many pills and medicines that should not be scheduled. Antibiotics, anti-virals, light pain meds are very safe to use. It would reduce costs immediately.
4. Same sex marriage- The battle against homosexuality is what started the war on drugs. "Marijuana leads to homosexuality, the breakdown of the immune system, and therefore to AIDS.” -- Carlton Turner. White House Drug Czar under Ronald Reagan. I know there is a quote out there with Ron saying the same thing but I could not find it.
5. War on terror- Osama and other terrorists groups thrive due the the drug war.- chaosium, on 04/26/2008, -0/+2"Putting the Clintons in prison, making sure other countries really like us at any cost, putting rich people in prison, busing school kids to another part of town, gas rationing....like odd an even days, putting owners and CEOs of corporations in prison ( just U.S. corporations though), freeing all prisoners in US prisons (except rich people and CEO's), making sure the News Media reports news the way we want it or it's off to prison they go, ban all cars and motorbikes that run on oil (U.S.only)....so many issues..."
"Jesus good, hippies/ay-rabs bad." is pretty much the only thing some people go into a voting booth parroting.
- chaosium, on 04/26/2008, -0/+2"Putting the Clintons in prison, making sure other countries really like us at any cost, putting rich people in prison, busing school kids to another part of town, gas rationing....like odd an even days, putting owners and CEOs of corporations in prison ( just U.S. corporations though), freeing all prisoners in US prisons (except rich people and CEO's), making sure the News Media reports news the way we want it or it's off to prison they go, ban all cars and motorbikes that run on oil (U.S.only)....so many issues..."
- nkoszyk, on 04/26/2008, -1/+1"What can the government do to prevent a recession?" Government can only get in the way of free enterprise and *cause* a recession.
- EmperorAnton, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1@Buckowsky I agree with you 100% about impeaching GW. So much more to worry about than him.
