- scallon, on 11/11/2007, -12/+55The problem isn't keeping myself from watching it, the problem is that for a lot of people in this country Fox is their source for news. When Fox is consistently found to be reporting erroneous stories or giving ridiculous right wing bias to stories where none existed before, they are influencing a lot of people who are not aware of the errors or the bias. Remember when Fox was caught switching the party affiliation of Republicans who got in trouble? You know when a Republican would screw up they would show his picture and next to the state he represented they would switch the usual "R" with a "D"? That is to intentionally deceive people into not trusting democrats. I don't care what party you belong to, no one should sit by and watch a major news agency commit acts like that.

I just think it is the Corporate Media, that likes to pick the most obnoxious person to represent movements -- thus destroying any chance for real social change in this country.
Think about it; as a Progressive, I like Rosie O'Donnell, I'm not offended by a crass, loudmouthed, Lesbian -- but I'm not 80% of America who is going to just hate the sight of her. The MSM lets her be the one to say the war is wrong, or that we have a lot of questions about 9/11. They have Al Sharpton, the ambulance chaser, be the person who gets on TV to be offended for all Black people -- don't you think there are more than one black person -- maybe a few that most people don't think; "Hey, look at that large, sweaty, amublance chaser."
If there is a gay pride parade -- they won't show all the men in business suites -- they zoom in on the freak in the back dressed as the pink fairy godmother with sparkles and a full set of wings. That person is the one to get interviewed, if the rest of America wants to learn the meaning of being gay.
Jesse, Steinem, and Al are not the real problem -- there are a few million people who would love the attention and money that comes with being on the interview circuit. The PROBLEM, is the MSM, which turns every real issue in this country into a mockery of itself. This is why we have gained such self-loathing in this country, because reasonable, articulate people, can't get on a show and actually solve a problem. All our children are shown infantalized adults, who can see who wins a screaming match. It's a shame though that such trash exists, I always thought it was illegal to show those kind of things.
