- JCSaint, on 10/12/2007, -4/+45Wow, I don't expect her to watch the show or even to know who Jon Stewart is but if you're going to quote the guy, know what his name is.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42It's future news because she guaranteed herself an appearance on the Daily Show.
- audiowizard, on 10/12/2007, -5/+34WOW SHES HOT I BELIEVE HER !!!
- Jwoey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26omg its jon jeez fascist.
- bigpappasmurf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Don Stewart is a religious nut. He has one of those paid public access shows that plays at about 2 am every night, Its kinda funny watching it.

>Wow the white house must be very embarrassed about not getting some comedy show host's first name wrong.
It's more reflective of a general sense of cluelessness that they have about word affairs and public opinion. They really are in a bubble. - altinnovation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Am I the only one who thinks she's a damn hot politician?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16THANK GOD FOR JON STEWART!!!!!!!!
How ironic that Americans have to watch a Comedy channel to get the news, for Christ's sake!!
"a recent study by the University of Pennsylvania's National Annenberg Election Survey, which said young viewers of "The Daily Show" were more likely to answer questions about politics correctly than those who don't."
http://www.freepress.net/news/4765
”Viewers of Jon Stewart's show are more likely to have completed four years of college than people who watch "The O'Reilly Factor," according to Nielsen Media Research.”
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6117542/
Also, funny that after Stewart appeared on Crossfire and outed them for not really being a debate show but just another right-wing extremist circus that is destroying American, CNN cancelled the show.

Thanks for that Jon. - TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13You guys didn't know Don Stewart is mafioso?
- audiowizard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14ok seriously, it's pretty obvious that her and John are secret lovers. And clearly John likes it when she calls him the Don in bed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16"Heads are gunna role"
...ok - kurotenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"I expect my government to know 1) the names of all the leaders of all major nations, especially those that pose a threat (which Bush, naturally, didn't when asked), and 2) to know the names of ALL major political analysts and tv talking heads who influence opinion (which she obviously doesn't)."
at this point I would gladly settle for the President to pronounce nuclear correctly, at least in public... - audiowizard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12She h0t, it's news. Ok?
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11She's not a politician, she's a "staffer", which is kind of like an intern that was good enough to hire for a second, uh, private meeting.
- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15To speak his true name is blasphemy. I prefer JN STWRT
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8She's not a politician, she's a public relations specialist and one-time journalist.
Dana Perisno is the deputy White House Press Secretary, and director of communications for the press team
She attended the University of Southern Colorado from 1990 to 1994 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a minor in both political science and Spanish. While attending the university, Perino was very active on the debate team and with KTSC. From there, Perino attended graduate school at the University of Illinois, Springfield where she also worked as a daily reporter covering the Illinois Capitol for WCIA-TV, a CBS affiliate. She then went on to work in Washington, D.C. for Representative Scott McInnis of Colorado as a staff assistant before serving nearly four years as the press secretary for Rep. Dan Schaefer (R-CO-Retired), who then chaired a House Commerce subcommittee on Energy and Power.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_Perino - trer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Apparently, not everyone is a Jon Stewart fan. That makes sense, they're republicans.
- truspark, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Yeah but for an already "out of touch" administration you'd think they'd know the name of the guy who spends a half hour every night explaining to the youth of America just how out of touch this administration is - or maybe not.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Reminds me of the time Ted Kennedy wanted to "congratulate our Home Run Kings, Mike Mcguire and Sammy Sousser.."
- kurotenshi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5She did correct herself immediately afterwards, but it was hard to hear as the reporter started talking.
And I'm only defending her because she is hot... - look4alec, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12This administration is simply following the number one rule of politics with one of its biggest critics:
"Keep your friends close, and your enemies... wait who are our enemies again?" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3she went to my ala Mater University of Illinois at Springfield.
I am not ashamed because we are all idiots... yeah, here is the proof:
http://www.uis.edu/ - g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I bet she's great at taking dicktation.
- kurotenshi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4^^ What he said.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Can anyone cite when Jon Stewart actually said that producing a timetable for withdrawal would be like sending the Iraqis a "Save the Date" card?
- HeyBob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I believe it's spelled "Dohn"
- truspark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3he won't lead with it but I can guarantee you that at some point in the show tonight someone is going to call him Don.
- BobsYourUncle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Didn't they also mistake Stephen Colbert for someone else, and pay dearly at the White House Press Corps dinner?
- g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When you shorten "Donathon" to "Don" you don't add an 'h.'
- teetow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I see no reason why this would get on the Daily Show. There's no inherent comedy in it (which is what TDS usually requires in order for its "thing" to work). She tried to be funny, but it was kinda lame. End of story.
- SOULEVENT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a News Organization?
http://www.digg.com/political_opinion/VIDEO_OUTFOXED_Rupert_Murdoch_s_War_on_Journalism - Essefgy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Crooks and Liars.com has a clip with better audio. She might actually have said "Jon" Stewart after all, but she speaks too quickly to be sure.
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/04/10/dana-perino-lifts-material-from-the-daily-show/ - Weizhong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Putting aside that it may have just been a slip of the tongue, I think this article was brought to attention to display the degree of disparity between the White House and the rest of the Nation. Much like the instance when George Bush referred to Google as "The Google".
- nomonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it entirely likely that she knew exactly what she was doing when she referred to him as "Don". They've done this before.
One big example that is clearly my design is to drop the "ic" from democratic as a subtle sign of disrespect. They call it a "democrat congress", etc. It's well documented.
This administration (well, Rove) has a particular style in how they manipulate words for effect - calling Jon Don is a good example of how they always try to show subtle disdain for those not on their side.
You know what it's like? It's like when someone has a new girlfriend who has an ex-boyfriend that is threatening in some way - rich, tall, whatever. The new boyfriend will often intentionally pretend he can't remember her ex's name and call him by the wrong name to send a signal that he's not important enough to remember his name.
It fits the pattern, that's for sure. - ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It seems to me like one of these videos has been edited. The one you link to clearly sounds like she says Jon, but the one linked to by this article clearly sounds like she says Don.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1aceq:
>And that has anything to do with not knowing the first name of a comedy show host? Hmmm still don't see the link.
You don't see a link to cluelessness about world affairs? Okay, let's keep going:
"In 2004, I made a promise to the ... these are the actual results for the fiscal year that ended February the 30th." -- http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/10/20061011-7.html
“I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees.” [Washington Post]
How about after he couldn't name leaders in hotspots: "When Bush spokeswoman Karen Hughes attempted to defend her boss following the Hiller interview, she said that neither the Bush campaign's senior foreign policy advisor, Josh Bolton, nor foreign policy advisor Joel Shinn could name all four of these world leaders."
That doesn't sound clueless to you? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1aceq:
>But again it is the CONNECTION of not knowing a comedy show host's first name and cluelessness. And you have failed to prove any CONNECTION.
I don't know about you, but it seems pretty convincing to me. They don't know about world affairs. They don't know the names of public figures. They don't know about hotspots. They don't know about religious divides.
Perfect Republicans. - aceg1357, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But again it is the CONNECTION of not knowing a comedy show host's first name and cluelessness. And you have failed to prove any CONNECTION.
- DieGOPNazis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Here's an unforgivable White House goof made by none other than Bush:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmX23l0ouo8 - masterkenobi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I think for his next show, they should introduce him as "Don Stewart", either just the intro or the whole show :D
- phatt-matt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Moron.
- aschapm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no prob. think it's dead now anyway, and no harm done.
- donuts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1She's hot. If she said his name is Don, then Jon Stewart should change his name to Don Stewart right away.
- LastVisibleDog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Think Progress propaganda machine material is getting really weak - Oh my god she said "Don" instead of "Jon"
- aschapm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hardly embarrassing. she knew his name, and not saying it correctly was a way of diminishing him. think about it: "he's clearly not important enough for me to remember his name."
- LastVisibleDog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2nomonkey: "One big example that is clearly my[by] design is to drop the "ic" from democratic as a subtle sign of disrespect. They call it a "democrat congress", etc. It's well documented."
Wow! Some lefties are very paranoid...and not very smart.
A member of the Republican Party is called a "Republican" and when they are in control of the congress it is a "Republican Congress"
A member of the Democratic Party is called a "Democrat" therefore when they are in control of the congress it is a "Democrat Congress"
(a member of the Democratic Party is not called a "Democratic" - JEEEZE!)
Wow, even lefties think "Democrat" is a term of disrespect.... - green1152, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1She's definitely going to be in a clip on the daily show tonight or tomorrow for sure.
- logicalnoise, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I don't watch the daily show for the news but when a big story occurs I try to watch the daily show just to see what they do with it. Lately they have been firing on all cylinders.
- phatt-matt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That only works in Democrat circles.
