With regard to "speaking up for white people":
Antifederalist, you need to count to ten (or a thousand), think things through, and stop making angry remarks on Digg that will cause people to label you as a bigot or a troll. Remember that anything you type here stays out there forever. You cannot predict how many copies of your text may exist, or who might have them fifty years from now.
Nobody is disputing the fact that there are a lot of middle-class and working-class white people in the US who feel beleaguered at this time, mostly because of bad government policies that threaten their ability to make a living.
For instance, the current plague of "political correctness" reflects the tendency of the "powers that be" in the US to use their own PRETENDED concern for racial minorities as a club to hit the middle and working class over the head with, and as a tool for acquiring more power for themselves. The same is true of programs such as affirmative action.
The upshot is that some people will begin to blame the minorities who are being used as a pretext to hurt the middle and working class, when they should identify and blame the political hacks and propagandists who are actually doing this manipulation.
Of course, because of the fact that most of the people in the US are white, most of the middle-class and working-class people who are being hurt by bad government policies will be white also. Well, that's no surprise. It's also true that nobody in public life right now is doing a very good job of speaking out about these governmental abuses. But on the other hand, trying to rely on David Duke as an advocate is worse than having nobody to speak up for you at all. I'd rather keep some sense in my head and speak up for myself, which I can do as well as anyone can.
But the people to be angry at are the actual, identifiable individuals who are abusing power: the government, academia, the NGOs, the media, and the military contractors and other recipients of corporate welfare - and not the members of minority groups who are simply being used as an excuse for the elites to gather more power.
I also have to point out that, despite what David Duke might say, the elites in the US and western Europe are NOT preponderantly Jewish. For instance, you might want to look at who actually owns the banks, which people have been led to believe are owned by Jews. Not so. Among bank stockholders, you'll find a surprising amount of oil money from Muslim countries. Now this DOES present a security risk, and not one that David Duke would be willing to acknowledge!
Many of us are concerned with the abuses of excessive government power. If we ever expect to accomplish anything positive in the real world, none of us can afford to harbor prejudices or to make ugly remarks that will cause dissention among people who should be cooperating. - CzechRebel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@ antifederalist
Using the handle “antifederalist,” it sounds like you are almost as anti-big government as someone using the handle “CzechRebel.” But I must confess that I am having a lot of trouble trying to figure out what you mean about the Jews and Israel.
As far as I know, “Zionism” is a movement that supports Jews returning to their aboriginal (or quasi-aboriginal) homeland in the Middle East. What it has to do with the Bushes’ military misadventures in Iraq is beyond me.
Are you suggesting that an unstable Middle East somehow makes Israel more secure? I find that analysis hard to accept. The Jews seemed to been doing a good job of settling their homeland when they were going it alone. The years 1948, 1967 and 1973 seem to speak for themselves. However, when Peanut Butter Jimmy Carter started Middle Eastern “peace talks” and Israel became this special US “ally” the situation became evermore unstable. Of course following the Peanut Butter man’s actions, piles of US foreign aid started going both to Israel and Egypt. But, the violence in and around Israel seems much more common since Camp David. Or is it just me?
I am also having a little trouble with equating Christians with neocons. Ever been to South Carolina? Around here, it seems that the nastiest word in the mouth of any conservative Christian is “neocon.” So, I am having a lot of trouble making the connection. Maybe one should give his personal definition of “neocon” upon utter it.
Next, I am having a bit for trouble understanding why it should be a surprise to anyone that many old-time Zionists supported the Nazis, at first. It is common knowledge that, early on, Hitler had wanted to send Jews back to Palestine, as Israel was caused at the time. It was the British who put the kibosh on that one. It was the Caliph of Jerusalem who egged Hitler on to Holocaust. A lot of people were naïve enough to support the Nazis early on. For example, the name, “Joe Kennedy” comes to mind. Early on, the Zionist and the Nazis had a common goal. So what?
Also, I am a little lost on these “Jewish Communists” who committed genocide in Russia and China. Are you suggesting that their Communist leaders were mostly Jewish?
You also seem to be making a significant distinction between Jews and western culture. Having a minority Jewish community is such an integral part of Western culture that is hard for me to see the point.
Intertwined in your entire message is an assertion that the Jews have some sort of major lobby that has great influence in American culture. I know a number of people who hold such a belief. Many of those who hold that belief are intelligent and well educated. Yet, there is patient fallacy to that belief. Given the number of successful, well-heeled, Jewish people in America, why is there “major lobby” so impotent? If this lobby had such a great influence why doesn’t it take the American military forces and clean out West Bank and the Gaza Strip? Why doesn’t this “powerful Jewish lobby” promote the interest of Judaism in the US?
In the US, Jews practically apologize for taking time off to celebrate their holidays. Many try to hide their Jewish identity and worry about anti-Semitism. I know a few Jews and they sure don’t strike me as people with much political clout. - Equalizer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@antifederalist

- BigKitty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6First of all, while there were a considerable number of Jews among the Bolsheviks, Jews never formed a majority of the Bolshevik movement or of the Communist Party, nor were the Jews ever in control of either one. Hitler did get a lot of political mileage out of blaming the Communist menace on the Jews, but Hitler lied about many things in order to gain power, and there's no need to take his rantings at face value.
Second, as CzechRebel points out, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem acted as a catalyst to egg Hitler on to worse and worse attacks upon the Jews. In his own way, he was as evil as Hitler himself. There's a lot of factual information about this on the Emperors Clothes website, http://www.tenc.com - I highly recommend that site to all DIGGers, even those who don't usually take an interest in politics.
Third, the proponents of the "neocon" world view, on both sides of the aisle, are most certainly not exclusively Jews. Just for starters, Condoleezza Rice, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Rush Limbaugh, Zbigniew Brezinski, Strobe Talbot, and William F. Buckley aren't Jews.
I have no use for the neocons at all. They pay lip service to safeguarding the continued existence of Israel, because they don't want the Jewish voters and the conservative Christian voters to figure out what the neocons are all about. But in reality, the neocons don't care much about the Jews or Israel, or for that matter, about anything other than themselves. The neocons are all about expanding government power and about corporate welfare for the government contractors and for the oil business. That's why George W. appointed Condoleezza Rice - because she has such strong ties to the oil business.
If you look at what they are doing - as opposed to what they are saying - you'll see that the neocons, as well as the administrations of Bush 41 and 43, and the Clinton administration, do everything they can to keep stirring up trouble in the Middle East so that the US govt. has an excuse to get its hands on more of our tax dollars. The US govt. wants to maintain a military presence in the Middle East, to provide lucrative sweetheart contracts for corporate crooks, to keep the Saudis dependent on the US, and to cause as much trouble for Russia as they can. - LakeshoreBaby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1All this anti-Jewish stuff is really f***ing pissing me off. Equalizer, chill out. He didn't say anything bad about Jews, he said David Duke stands up for white people. However misguided that is, he has a point in that white people are almost overwhelmed with guilt and racism by the minorities these days.
