- gronne, on 10/12/2007, -4/+82This administration will forever be known as the "blow smoke up your ass" administration.
- Groovemaster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+67The fact that these people live in a world of fantasy and lies isn't what bothers me.
What bothers me is that they profit so massively from their deceptions, and that America lets them. - llbbl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+52Coming from the Worst Vice President EVER that says alot.
- shadus, on 10/12/2007, -21/+15Oh give it up! This administration doesn't blow smoke up anyones ass, they're straight shooters! Never lie, never mislead, and they're at the top of their game! Yeeeeeeeeeeeehaw. *coughrightcough*
My personal favorite is, "Quit pissing down my back and telling me its raining" however in the case of our current administration it's not accurate... accurate is: "No vasaline AND no reach-around?!"
I dream of someday having non-corrupt, purchased politicians... I guess it wouldn't be a dream if it came true though right? - CloakandSwagger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27As KenLin pointed out, this does nothing but further solidify Cheney's typically insane behavior.
Most people see through him now.
His approval ratings were somewhere in the 10-15% area last I checked.
Nobody really listens to him anymore.
However, he's still considered one of the most dangerous ***** on the planet, and that's why he's still in power, because he'll clearly say and do anything to stay there.
- Wartyboskfapped, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16"accurate as Cheney's previous statements of how we will be 'greeted as liberators' (9/14/2003), how Iraq insurgency is in its 'last throes' (5/31/2005) and 'we don't torture' (10/25/2006)."
And that the Republicans would not lose House or Senate in the November 2006 mid term elections. - brickbat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17@Groovemaster
"The fact that these people live in a world of fantasy and lies isn't what bothers me."
They don't live in a fantasy world....not even close. They are the ones that have stolen trillions of dollars from the US treasury and the world through artificially high oil prices. Have you noticed with all the talk about the chaos in Iraq, no one is talking about the oil being pumped?
You think this was a mistake? Follow the money. It leads straight to these assholes. This was all planned. The US dollar is going to hyper-inflate and they are going to "save" the US economy by switching to the "Amero" at a rate of 1:100 or maybe 1:1000 depending on how well they do.
The US is going to take it just like Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, etc, etc, etc took it. These guys have been practicing.
These guys have been planning and implementing this since Reagan at least. - Suits, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17While were on the subject of Retards In Power. Anyone else remember another great architect of the bush doctrine, Paul Wolfowitz?
"There's a lot of money to pay for this. It doesn't have to be U.S. taxpayer money. We are dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon."
Congressional Testimony, March 27, 2003
Good thing he's now in charge of the World Bank. - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7First War under the watchful eye of the Internet. I just don't think they're going to be able to pull off their own ***** this time. There's too much truth tipping the collective consciousness scales. They may be watching us, but we're watching them too. They didn't factor that in.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8About as accurate as Cheney's aim on a quail hunt.
- CursorTN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When did Cheney get selected as the new Iraqi Minister of Defense?
- deesnutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I bet Cheney truly believes in that statement.
Think of the millions if not billions of dollars,
his former company (Haliburton), direct friends and family have made
because of this perpetual war.
*****, I'm surprised that Cheney didn't give Rumsfeld
a blow job on stage to thank him.
And in the end, Rumsfeld became the scapegoat.
Gets to resign and become the big cheese in his circle of friends
for all the money he made for them. Then that's when he'll cash in
with ***** published books (of which his friends will buy in the millions and never read - nice kickback, huh) and speaking engagements at $1,000 per plate.
Meantime, "Joe Honorable Solider" is killed in this war.
His family, pregnant wife and two year old kid get a nice little ceremony.
She gets a flag. And the two kids never get to know there dad. And why?
Because Mr. Rumsfeld and company put that man into harms way.
When we all now know, he should have been there in the first place.
Was it because of the "mushroom cloud"?
How about the "yellow cake"?
Was it to fight Al-Qaeda (since we know there was no connection with Iraq)?
I don't know anymore. The reasons have changed so many times. I've lost track.
So I could see how Dick (quite a fitting first name) Cheney would make such a statement. Dick Cheney is just pure evil. Isn't Cheney the human form of Satan?

From Bush, to Cheny, to Rumsfeld, to Condi...they're all arrogant, self-serving a**holes. They make decisions based on their own twisted views instead of reality. The American people, in their indifference to anything not related to eating, shopping, or cell phones, have allowed this madness to continue far too long. America is on its way down. It'll crash hard.
- Philonius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Under Cheney, the retreating Iraqi army (that is, the greatly inferior, mostly defeated, terrified Iraqi army) was attacked while in full retreat. Burned to cinders. I wonder if he'll get the Medal of Freedom. - motbob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Rumsfield continued the work of Clinton as he transformed the army from an unstoppable cold war juggarnaut to a more precise attack unit. History will show if the change that he brought to the Pentagon outweighed his bad policy decisions in Iraq.
Speaking of bad decisions, can anyone please show me a specific decision that made the War in Iraq turn out worse? People always say that Rumsfeld botched the war, but I've never seen any evidence of that. I'm dead serious when I say, "Give me evidence!"- dropkickjohny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It was really the things he didn't do. Like not following the Powell Doctrine and using an overwhelming amount of force from the beginning. Not closing down Abu Ghaib immediately after those torture pictures came out.
Also allowing the Iraqi army to disband was probably one of the biggest reasons the insurgency got so bad. You could say that was Bremer's fault, but in war time the Sec. of Defense is second only after the President and if he had wanted to he could have overruled Bremer's decision.
And the changes he brought to the Pentagon really can't outweigh the bad policy decisions because those policy decision have cost the lives of almost 3000 US soldiers, countless innocent Iraqis, and have made us more enemies in the world than before we started the war. - nullcodes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think three fundamental mistakes were made, prior to the iraq war even starting
+ advocating secret trials of people without abillity to confront evidence
+ operating guantanamo bay prison, without announcing a clear standard of who gets thrown in there and why (can someone be sent there merely on hearsay?).
+ fueling global perceptions that basic inherent rights of innocent humans doesn't outweigh inconvenience
+ Believing falsely that a war can be won by demonstrations of ruthlessness.
Of course operating abu ghraib made things even worse (i'm sure locals knew even before the pictures came out). This solidifiied the view that america is there as an occupying force that's trying to push forward a pretense of being there to liberate.
I dont believe that it even matters whether the abuses at abu ghraib were authorized far up the ladder. I believe that many domestic prisons in the USA have this issue, and this is a symptom of that. In fact, many (i hope not most) people think that being subject to prison rape is no big deal because it's being done to criminals. Unfortunately, no justice system is without error, and furthermore the hardcore criminals actually benefit from and enjoy prison rape. The public doesnt seem to want to take the effort to bring about change. If it means putting everything in prison under constant video surveillance. The constitution bans cruelty for a reason, unecessary cruelty desroys the souls of nations.
Collectively, as a culture, the infliction of cruelty and the "oh well, he deserves it" mentality must always be opposed. All prisons must be for rehabilitation, especially when the sentence is not a life term or death. If a sentence demands that a person be released into society, doesnt it make some sense that the person not be even more vengeful. Being subject to cruelty isn't going to reform anyone, it's going to make them hate even more. It's foolish to think that a person will think "oh, I am going to get beaten up/raped again if I commit this crime" and not do the crime. In fact they're more likely to commit the crime because they just won't care.
My point is this, if a country wants to win wars they should learn how wars their past war objectives went according to how they were successful (WW2: many germans were eager to surrender in WW2) verus how they were lost (vietnam - alleged abuses by Tiger Force, actions at My Lai). - lemenhir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm. Evidence.
How about how he failed to send enough troops to secure the Baathist ammunition dumps? The insurgents drove away with thousands of tons of explosives. They now use those explosives to kill and maim thousands of our troops and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians.
Brilliant Mr. Secretary! Brilliant! You are the best EVAR! - Gerz1219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@motbob -- Wow, you are the only person on here who even remotely defends Rumsfeld, and as the replies illustrate, that's only because of your ignorance.
