US Textbooks Promote Islam...
wnd.com — WND has reported several times on issues involving the promotion of Islam in public school texts, including a recent situation in which California parents complained their children were being taught that "jihad" to Muslims means "doing good works."

- Christianptriot, on 05/10/2008, -4/+8This worked in Nazi Germany in the 1930s - convince everyone through indoctrination in schools that Jews were bad, and when they grew up it was OK to kill them. The same worked in the South, as children were taught that slavery and the subsequent poor treatment of blacks was biblical.
If some of these ultra-liberal muslim loving folks want so badly to raise up islam as a great religion, they should convert and move to Iran. - librtyship, on 05/10/2008, -5/+7This has to be reason ten thousand and one for getting your kids out of the Public school system. You simply would not believe the trash they promulgate in the public schools here in California. Every thing evil, disgusting and destructive is heavily promoted out here, bad is regarded as good and good is regarded as evil! California used to be on the cutting edge of a lot of good things, but now it is on the cutting edge of evil things that most of us wouldn't even care to think about! It is indeed a place to be avoided at all costs. Our schools here are so far to the left that they would make Karl Marx blush and the state and local governments are pretty much going down the same road! This state is a good example of how many nations have lost their freedoms as their structure politically and educationally has been undermined by tremendous evil!
- thehifidoc, on 05/10/2008, -4/+5I pulled all my kids out of public school for reasons like this. The Government Schools can't be trusted. Their motto seems to be "never give a tax payer an even break" I am still waiting for some one to sue the public school system for malfeasance and abuse of the public trust.
- donholl, on 05/11/2008, -2/+3Most if not all public schools in this country are controlled by a locally elected school board. I have long believed that the American people are not intelligent enough to govern themselves and need to revert to a monarchy or dictatorship. Those that are smart enough to know better still do not get involved by running for positions on the school board. It is much easier to just throw up your hands and complain about things are than to shake off the apathy and control instead of being controlled. Just read some of the pathetic postings here and you will see what I mean. People you should be ashamed of your stupidity.
- anidal, on 05/11/2008, -4/+5While the contents of the books may not be true of muslim societies today, there is no doubt about their qualities in the past. If you have a grievance with a particular fact, look it up, textbooks do tend to list their references, if not they are available from the publisher. Hell, I'd be willing to clarify some topics if any of you had legitimate issues.
For example, Jihad in Arabic means to strive in the way of God. And the best way of doing it (the greater jihad), is to struggle to improve oneself. The lesser jihad, of physical fighting, can only be done on provocation.
If despite the availability of this information you still wish to pull your kids out of school for example, go ahead. You can't handle the truth, and soon, your indoctrinated kids won't be able to either.- SexyInsurance, on 05/11/2008, -3/+4You claim that 'Jihad in Arabic means to strive in the way of God'. But 'the way of God' is interpreted by a human cleric - not God. If you believe God is so powerful and almighty (as I do) why then does Islam teach the necessity of killing for Him? Do you not believe that He can do His work without your help? Why does Islam teach conversion by the sword or subjugation if conversion is not successful? Why death for leaving Islam? Is God not powerful enough to care for his own creation? Apparently Muslims believe in a God that is helpless and needs the help of humans.
When Saudi Arabia allows a Christian church to be built and Bibles to be distributed, then we can talk about the tolerance taught in Islam. It is amazing to me that people look at the Jim Crow south and apartheid with such disdain, and yet they turn a blind eye to the religious apartheid and segregation that goes on in EVERY ISLAMIC COUNTRY.
anidal, how would you feel if the texts included the sermon on the mount? Maybe where Jesus fed the hungry 5000 or turned the water into wine. How about when he brought his friend back from the dead? What would you think if it included the Lord's prayer? If it said that the Crusades were a defensive struggle to maintain the culture of European societies that were being overrun by foreigners? Hey, if you have a grievance with a particular fact, look it up.
anidal, actions like this are what caused the Crusades. There will be another one. It will be awful with much bloodshed and loss of life. Your apologetic stance for this blatant indoctrination of taqiyya is what will ensure that the history of the Crusades will repeat itself. Islam is not above criticism - no matter what you have been taught. Mohammed ruled by force and stole most of his teachings from Judaism and Christianity. That's what the history books should say. - anidal, on 05/11/2008, -3/+2Islam is not above criticism. Agreed. But apparently you do beleive defense of it is wrong. Why -would you bring up threats of Crusades? Can't we have an intelligent conversation without bringing up bloodshed?
Since I promised to answer any questions you asked, I'll try my best. It might be long, but a promise is a promise.
Islam is a practical religion. It defines the difference between the physical and spiritual world and accepts the fact that humans have to live in both. For example, if a muslim is sick, he/she should pray for health, but that doesnt mean refraining from medicine. Similarly, if a muslim home is attacked, muslims should pray for safety, but should fight for it as well.
Islam does not teach conversion by force as evidenced in the Koran 2:256
"Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects Taghut (evil) and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trust worthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. ".
You're not the only person against intolerance and segregation (though apartheid might be going a bit far). These features of 'Islamic' countries are a product of fundamentalist governments, not the will of the people. There will be change, when we all work towards it rather than play the blame game.
Guess what, Muslims do beleive in and we do love Jesus. We do beleive he fed the hungry 5000 and turned water to wine and that he brought people back from the dead. And that he was crucified. And that he was born a virgin birth. We believe in the same God. Only difference is we believe Jesus to be a human being who was a messenger for God. The Lord's prayer is perfectly acceptable in Islam if its directed at the right God.
It would appear it is you that hasnt looked up the facts. But I'm happy to set things straight. As for the crusades, we can at least both agree that the reasons behind them were not just to protect against foreigners. There was an element to return the holy land to Christianity. I actually did learn this at school, but since it wasn't a Muslim school I guess it doesn't count.
Finally, taqiyya may only be invoked in cases where ones own life is in danger. Since I doubt we know each other, I have no reasonable basis to lie here :) But don't take my word for it, you're welcome to verify all that I've written here.
Have a nice day. And I welcome any other questions. - Barbary, on 05/12/2008, -1/+1Anidal, the god of Islam and the God of the Bible are different! The god of Islam is one and the God of the Bible is a trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit. He is one God in three persons. I do not understand how this can be with my finite intelligence but because the Bible teaches it I take it at face value. Also Allah (the god of Islam) had no son, but God the Father had a son: Jesus Christ. The God of the Bible has provided salvation for whosoever wants it, including you. As far as I know a Muslim can never be assured of salvation. etc...etc. Check your facts!
- ddrinsp, on 05/30/2008, -0/+0Anidal, you state: "The Lord's prayer is perfectly acceptable in Islam if its directed at the right God."
Therein lies the problem . . . The Christian "God" is not the "right God", but Allah (the god of Islam) is the right one?
That is precisely the type of intolerance on the part of Islam theology which is what Bible-believing Christians are protesting. This type of indoctrination is exactly what is being taught to our children -- in their curriculum, in their textbooks -- and now in our public school. (Interested posters need to see - WND 05/30/2008 article - Texas Children roped into Islamic training (by CAIR) at:
http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=65659
This type of instruction leads to subjugation which Islamic extremists have already publicly stated is their goal.

- Realmian, on 05/31/2008, -0/+0Ultimaltely, as in; in the End: "Jihad, means all non-belivers will be subjugated into slavery or exterminated. PERIOD." I defy, anyone, to prove me wrong!? -Dennis Owens
