- parestrep, on 02/04/2009, -2/+33Most of this list fits into "Top 10 People Hated by Diggers," as well.
- WarnerK, on 02/05/2009, -4/+29For those of you who just want a quick list:
10. Glenn Beck
9. Dennis Miller
8. Geraldo Rivera
7. Chris Matthews
6. Sean Hannity
5. Rush Limbaugh
4. Michael Savage
3. Ann Coulter
2. Keith Olbermann
1. Bill O'Reilly
I'm surprised Chris Matthews is on the list with the likes of Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, O'Reilly, Olbermann and all. I kinda like him. - ManUnitdFan, on 02/05/2009, -2/+23I understand Keith Olbermann being on the list, but not above Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter. The latter two are crazy to the point of being sociopaths. Olbermann's a much more benign crazy.
- bixby1, on 02/05/2009, -5/+26Ann Coulter scares the living ***** out of me.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+19Sometimes you listen to these guys and they dont even seem real. They just play a made up character like its a movie. Most of the times I think these right wing hosts dont even believe what they are saying, they just play the character to excite the base.
- elliotys, on 02/05/2009, -3/+19While definitly left leaning, I feel that Olberman calls out fox on a lot of their *****.
- DonKarnage25, on 02/05/2009, -2/+18What the *****. #5? #5!?!?
This list fails with Keith Olbermann at #2. - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+15I hear her adam's apple is actually a parasite controlling her brain.
- UberNick, on 02/05/2009, -0/+14I think Mathews deserves it; Olbermann, not so much. Mathews has talked about the chills he got when Obama spoke, said it wasn't his job to criticize the president, and regularly brings up his blue-collar-blue-state credentials and political aspirations.
Olbermann is on point with facts and does his job as an American journalist: calling out politicians when they lie. He lambasted Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail for dirty tricks (all the while accused of being an unabashed Clinton supporter). Putting him on the list is just trying to instill some kind of false balance. Poor choice. - BoneheadFarker, on 02/05/2009, -1/+15If it makes you feel any better, I blame you for global warming and the current state of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
- Honeyblade, on 02/05/2009, -1/+15Keith O. Over Rush, Sean Hannity AND Ann Coulter? I don't think so.
- richbleak, on 02/05/2009, -2/+14It is so jarring to stumble upon conservatives on Digg. Experiencing the nonsensical rants, non-sequiturs, and logical failures is something I save for when I'm watching Oreilly or some other self-important dope that doesn't understand that his world-view is colored by ignorance and mental simplicity.
By the way, your Dennis Miller impression blows. "Faster than Al Gore can melt the polar ice caps"? How does that reference even make sense? Stoned slacker choking on a towering bong? wtf.
Your language reveals your character flaws:
Bedwetting = Childish name calling
America-blaming = Unable to understand the basic idea that our own behavior is the only control we really have. Criticizing the actions or policies of the U.S. is not the same as excusing the behavior of other groups. It amazes me that conservatives seem to be incapable of understanding this. Should our government and people be discussing what WE should be doing or should we all just sit around criticizing other countries?
Victim-playing = War on Christmas, liberal media, anti-christian, intellectual elitism, reverse discrimination, wealth redistribution, "they hate us for our freedom!" - These are all staples in the conservative rallying cry. They never want to take responsibility for their own actions and pretend that every organization in our society is out to get them. Who is playing the victim? - CeeJayDK, on 02/05/2009, -0/+12Why are you here on Digg , using Digg to generalize and demean people who use Digg ?
Don't you realize you belong to the same category you are complaining about ? - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -2/+11This whole damn society has a victim complex, radical Islamics are routinely cited as a reason why religion is bad, and there are legitimate things to blame Bush for, so quit exaggerating to make it sound like the very idea of criticizing Bush for anything is preposterous.
- ironhide, on 02/05/2009, -0/+8If you miss her, reload.
- edahms, on 02/05/2009, -0/+8i guess we're working off different definitions of crazy if you think oreilly isn't crazy.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+9Oh, Rush Limbaugh. He bitches and moans, but secretly he loves when the Democrats are in power. Sometimes I get the suspicion that he actively sabotages his own party because it gets him higher ratings when they lose.
- tjClassic82, on 02/05/2009, -6/+14I think Rush Limbaugh should have been #1!!!
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+7That is the most idiotic thing I've read, alanocu. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul
- brickbat, on 02/05/2009, -2/+8I realise there had to be one non-republican in the mix just to try to even it out but Olbermann? Really? Olbermann is the best you could come up with? You're not trying hard enough. If you wanted a left wing crazy, then Mike Malloy is your guy although his arguments still have some semblance of logic.
- parestrep, on 02/05/2009, -8/+13You sir, are an idiot.
A finite number of people (10) can comprise a list that is drawn from an infinite pool of them. - WhiteCloud, on 02/05/2009, -0/+5I don't understand how Savage is not number 1. All of them are varying degrees of crazy but Savage is totally off his ***** rocker insane. Everyone else on the list is downright rational when compared to Savage.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+5that dude is scary
- pnunn, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4Olbermann and Matthews on the list I can handle- but higher up than Rush? For real?
On a tangent- I think it is somewhat arguable that both Olbermann and Matthews are the necessary counterparts for the Coulter/Limbaugh/O'Reillys of the world... And I am surprised to see them here w/out Ms. Maddow- while she does it all with a calmer demeanor- she is no less personally motivated regarding certain issues and I have often been troubled by her lack of detachment as much as the other two.... For the record, I like/enjoy watching all three of them- but unlike certain folks (from the opposition) have said, we are hardly aloof to their biases.
I guess if Keith is going to lose to Bill O on something it may as well be this... - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4notice in the description that Keith Olbermann doesn't have any incendiary comments attributed to him, a la Rush, Hannity, and Coulter. I'm not saying he's never made any, but the others tend to rely on ad hominem attacks that clearly play to those with double-digit IQs.
All Olbermann is guilty of is having very strong opinions and not giving a ***** if you think he's a condescending prick. For the most part, he presents facts to support his arguments. My biggest beef with him is that everyone on his show obsequiously agrees with him and he asks leading questions. I used to watch, but now just look for the "Special Comment" on youtube when he does one. - Jareth86, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4Coulter should have been #1. I can easily see her working comfortably in a concentration camp.
- Alli3388, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4RE the little bit with Ann Coulter and Canadian troops being in Vietnam... Well, duh. No, Canada didn't go there thank goodness. But the comment after that, about how "they weren't in Vietnam, just like they're not in Iraq" kinda rubbed me the wrong way as a Canadian, since our troops have been a main force in Afghanistan since 9/11, and they have been dying over there trying to take out the Taliban and find Bin Laden... There are only 32 million of us, with a pretty small military - we don't exactly have enough resources to go there AND to help out the States in attacking a country that had nothing to with 9/11 in the first place... I wish the States, though, would give credit where credit is due.
- bob_the_alien, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4I agree, who even listens to these guys anyway, whether your right or left, I'd rather have honestity and not personal agenda when i listen to news.
Which is why I tend to stick to NPR, and PBS's NewsHour with Jim Lehrer
never listend to LRN, but I'll give it a try and if it's actualy honest, I might add it to my list as well. - tlo182, on 02/06/2009, -0/+4Olbermann at #2? Limbaugh at FIVE?!?!?
***** LIST SUCKS! - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+5There's a world outside of Digg....check it out sometime. In that wonderful world out there Olbermann's ratings are terrible compared to his competitors---specifically O'Reilly who doubles/triples his audience every night.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4That is what I think about Fox News. They just saw a niche and are exploiting it. It is alllllllllllll about profit imo.
- Alli3388, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3Re the one about Obama being "very white" and not African American... Ummmm... his mom was American. His dad was African. It doesn't really get more African-American than that, does it??? And how can a half black guy be very white, anyway??? WTF are those people talking about? I have to wonder if they are ever self-aware!!
- Lewie, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3Yeah, like UberNick, I think Olbermann is definitely the least "crazy" of this list. Most people joke about his sportscasting past, but I've heard the argument that it's made him more adept at using Facts & Figures, something which most political commentators truly lack.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3... or calibrate your sights.
- mateo60, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2I tend to agree. I always ask myself if Ann Coulter can possibly believe half of the crazy crap she says. But it gets lots of publicity and sells lots of books.
- Alli3388, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2No one has ever called him "very black". Ever.
And so, you see a half CHinese person.. You say, oh, they're not Chinese!!!!! Seriously??? That's ***** ridiculous!!!!
Look, what it really has to do with is how the person in quesion identifies themselves as... In Obama's case, it's being African American (and YEAH, being part black part white DOES make people African Americans... Just ask all the lighter coloured block people whose great great grandfather was a slave owner!!! God! - JJDiggle, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2Bob_the_alien,
lol.. I'm surprised, and pleased, to find a sincere, non-smartass response on Digg.
You will likely hear some new perspectives on Liberty Radio Network. That's great that you're willing to try something new. I admit that I've only listened to about 3/4ths of the lineup, but I know Ian, the one who chose LRN's lineup, is sincere, and competent. If you find that it's too much contrary opinions for you, try sticking with one show for a few weeks. Free Talk Live is on 6 nights a week, & internationally syndicated, so you might be able to get them in your car.
BTW, they encourge their listeners to call in when they disagree. They will be polite, & give you plenty of time to state your case, & have a conversation (unless you're just spouting off hateful, bigoted, things). - Chahrlie5, on 02/05/2009, -1/+3Considering this is Digg, it was balanced, as balanced as it gets.
- pnunn, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2LOL @ digger who hates diggers. GTFO.
- cschro, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2You can't be serious in assuming that.
- pnunn, on 02/05/2009, -1/+3Ann Coulter scared the estrogen right out of her own body! You're lucky it was just your *****!
- Thuktun, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2Every cause has nutcases following it. However, most of the left-wing crazies have been marginalized off national TV in favor of the right-wing crazies, since as a nation we've spent the last 40 years on a rightward-swing. The pendulum has started its long swing back.
- Thuktun, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2"I like (X), (he|she|it) validates my preconceptions."
- Thuktun, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2"a more benign crazy"
I was starting to feel slightly crazy being under Bush for eight years, myself, and I didn't have to report on it every single weekday. - WarnerK, on 02/05/2009, -1/+3I do agree that Matthews is still biased, but I don't think he's as bad as Olbermann. Maybe KO is different now that the election is over, but during the election it was ridiculous. He would do nothing but praise Obama and bash McCain nonstop even when he was supposed to be an unbiased reporter during the DNC and RNC. Also, did you see him interview Obama before he was elected? It was terrible. All he did was kiss his ass and toss softballs at him.
I still like Olbermann, but I got sick of some of his BS during the election. Maybe he's better now that he doesn't feel the need to help Obama win. - Thuktun, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2@duncan202
Polly want a cracker?
NPR receives about 1% of its budget from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and member stations receive about 15% of theirs from CPB.
Most of the sponsors are everyday people and companies making donations.
(I was going to say "people like you and me", but probably not you, I guess.) - GuanYuber, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2Now I hate Bill O'Reilly as much as the next person with a brain, but he really doesn't deserve #1. He's just a blowhard with nothing of value to say. Granted, neither do Coulter or Hannity, but they're much more malevolent than he is.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2in the land of the willful ignoramuses and pathological liars, O'Reilly is king douche
- Thuktun, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1Savage is far worse than Limbaugh. Limbaugh just gets more press.
- DPimp1262, on 02/05/2009, -2/+3That's easy, because the man can be just as berating and abusive to his guests as Bill O'Reilly. Difference is that Billo is pushing right wing agenda and Mathews is pushing left wing views. Both can be absolutely nuts sometimes and both get taken out of context a lot.
I like this list. I like it that they actually called out Olbermann and Matthews. It's easy to make fun of the crazy right wingers that on fox, but MSNBC can be just as bad sometimes, and CNN just argues about what dog the president is gonna buy or his posture. News is dead. -
