Time to exit the empire game
worldnetdaily.com — Says that we missed a chance to return to being a "normal country in normal times" when the Berlin Wall fell but we have a chance to end our empire now. Suggest we bring our troops home from all over the world. But he points out that politicians, generals, weapons manufactures, etc., will be out of a job if we do so there is little hope.

- CCoburn3, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3We had one candidate who would have grasped this golden opportunity. Unfortunately, McCain was nominated instead.
- mcdeng, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3I have often found that when you reach an impasse in a problem, that taking a new perspective and redefining the problem (such that everyone involved agrees) suddenly opens up new solutions. I think Pat may be on to something in what he says. What do you think?
- CooperSpy1821, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3I think Pat is right, we don't have the luxury of keeping up all of the foreign positions. We need to retrench at home and build up our base again. We need to start producing wealth again. Deficit spending is destroying America's strength and influence. We are dependent on other nations to finance our missions, and they can too easily pull the rug out. Of course, I think this situation will be much worse under Obama's presidency. His goal is manage everything, and spending will explode, and he won't put America first.
- CCoburn3, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3It would be difficult for Obama to outspend the current administration and since McCain has sworn to continue with the wars, it is unlikely that he would cut spending either. Our only hope is that a miracle will occur & neither of these clowns will be president. WHo knows, maybe someone will get serious about the "natural born citizen" requirement and realize that neither is eligible to be president.
- CCoburn3, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Pat is certainly right that we need to close down the empire. If for no other reason than because we simply can't afford it.
- jpd2461, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Buchanan for president Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- BarneyLS, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2US frogs have been in the pot to long. Come November baring an act of God the water will begin to boil and the frog will be cooked. Pray that God will have mercy on the USA and send a spiritual and moral revival instead of His judgment.
- DrReaper, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1This is what you get when you allow people to become career politicians.
- congresssucks, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1The USA became the world's police just because it could. Now that we can no longer afford being the guardian of the world, the Constitution seems to be written by very wise men. Many people can say 'I told you so', but it wouldn't make an impression on Congress because they still act like they are the rulers of the world. CHANGE Congress, a change I could believe in.
