- omegaant, on 10/27/2008, -1/+6Awesome video at the end - Republicans who have changed their minds, will vote for Obama and why! One thing the article points out is that business as usual is not an option - we have to morph into something else in order to survive as a nation and Obama at least gives us an inkling of hope in that direction. Whereas, McPalin are spouting very misguided platitudes that seem to arouse the ignorant voters but are so far from the real issues we are facing as to be sadly laughable. It shows the tide is turning for the better, but we have a long way to go and complacency will destroy life as we know it. I'm with Colin Powell and Chris Buckley and others more intelligent than I: Obama!
- theuon, on 10/29/2008, -0/+1Thank you for writing this article. It inspired me to actually log into my Digg account and make one of my first comments. You summarized with eloquence many of the stories we have been seeing on sites like Digg, connecting them in a way which draws the picture plain. This is a runaway government on the verge of becoming despotic. We are closer to fascism than we have ever seen. The citizens remain the last check and balance on a government who is not looking out for the good of the country and its people, but for whatever special interests pump the most lobbying dollars into the halls of Congress.
However this is OUR country. The leaders will listen when the citizens are outraged, and the companies will bend when our dollar support is removed. You or I or any one of us can leverage the anger of injustice to great heights, if we are willing to lead. The leaders aren't doing their job, and its up to the younger, educated, and patriotic (not nationalistic) leaders to emerge.
As your article states, there is no innocent party in this mess. We are all responsible. Thank you for reminding us that finger pointing is useless, and unless one has the resolve to go after his or her truth, we will be bound to the fate that follows from inaction.
Side note- Religious organizations have no right to force their beliefs into our State government. To my fellow Californians, vote No on 8. - codymckibb, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1There was apparently big news today of a plot by two dumb young neo-Nazis to massacre as many as 88 African-Americans and target Barack Obama in an assassination attempt.
From the Associated Press:
"The spree, which initially targeted an unidentified predominantly African-American school, was to end with the two men driving toward Obama, 'shooting at him from the windows,' the court documents show."

Thankfully, the Secret Service and Federal authorities stepped in before the plan was put into action, but this is the kind of ass-backwards close-mindedness I'm talking about. I know that the McCain-Palin campaign is not directly to blame, but the fact that campaign supporters are making some of these threats and insults at the McCain-Palin rallies without being challenged, and the fact that senior party members are accusing Obama of having terrorist ties, incites a climate of fear, hatred, and violence. That's not the America I want to be a part of.

At the very least, this article is getting people to talk. Thank you guys for all of your support and for starting such great discussions. Please, even if you disagree with me, keep it coming. - bobglaza, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1keep up the good fight Cody
- BlueStarr, on 10/28/2008, -1/+1"Every one of us is responsible. I’m not asking you to vote for Obama. Vote for Bob Barr. Or better yet, write in Ron Paul. Vote for Stephen Colbert. Or vote for me!"
Looks like an attempt to distract. Sorry no go!
