- inactive, on 04/20/2008, -8/+170I have often wondered what people like Madison, Jefferson, Adams, Washington, Monroe, Hamilton, or Jay would think about the ridiculous size of our government today....
- CatsAreGods, on 04/20/2008, -1/+79We're missing out on a great green energy source by not tapping the rotational momentum of our Founding Fathers spinning in their graves.
- johnny2k, on 04/20/2008, -9/+67I love humor. I love when people can write like this. It is awesome to see people throw in this kind of creative imagination to existing sets of political and scientific principles, add in some good sarcasm, it is just too good! What a great wit! Could be the next Ben Franklin ... and believe me, we need people like that in this world, and in this country! LOL!
- BibleNut, on 04/20/2008, -6/+61That is just too funny. Thanks for the laugh.
- inactive, on 04/20/2008, -2/+50I like the quote from Mark Twain above the article describing the mainstream media today.
"If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed." -- Mark Twain - casuallyevil, on 04/20/2008, -2/+35In other news. when Governmentium and currency come into contact, a spontaneous annihilation reaction takes place...
- DiggLive, on 04/20/2008, -5/+38Clintonium causes one to become drowsy and sleep-deprived.
- Argentian, on 04/20/2008, -2/+35This was a case of drinking the coffee at the wrong time (when I was reading this hilarious piece). That's what they make napkins for, I guess.
Thanks for the belly laughs! - DRINKxREDxBULL, on 04/20/2008, -1/+33Tomas Jefferson almost didn't go through with the Louisiana Purchase because he didn't think the Constitution gave him the authority, even though he knew (correctly) that it was the best opportunity America could ever hope to get.
- Publius99, on 04/20/2008, -1/+31...and may also cause hyper-sexuality, leading to irresponsible sexual behavior with unattractive white house interns.
- ZenaTWQ, on 05/05/2008, -3/+30The third postulate. Great laugh :)
- Lutremi, on 04/20/2008, -2/+29It also causes random, imaginary sniper fire to start hitting you
- caccia, on 04/20/2008, -3/+29Creative and clever!
- DonWigler, on 04/20/2008, -3/+27It's more dangerous than Plutonium.
- debunkthelies, on 04/20/2008, -3/+23This bit of levity makes my day. Thanks.
- hydratedsquash, on 04/20/2008, -2/+21Governmentium bonds well with specialintrestium.
- drmsucks, on 04/20/2008, -3/+21The English language is not adequate to describe how WONDERFUL this is! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
- inactive, on 04/20/2008, -2/+19What I would give for that kind of integrity in a president...
- cl2yp71c, on 04/20/2008, -2/+18Side effects of prolonged exposure: Mass conformity
Treatment: Use Anarchium to counter the effect. - Pixelante, on 04/20/2008, -0/+16They would probably voice their displeasure. But then they would be marked as terrorists.
- lodibug3, on 04/20/2008, -5/+21Thanks for the shout. Need a little levity in the midst of this drudgery!
- iofthestorm, on 04/20/2008, -1/+17Jefferson didn't really believe in the loose interpretation of the elastic clause before he became president, but as many of my teachers have said people often move closer to the center or see the other side's point better when they become president. Either that, or they just like to lie during campaigns. On that note, whatever happened to "fiscally responsible" conservatives?
- Antarcticn, on 04/20/2008, -2/+17Let's put governmentium and administratium in a particle accelerator / super collider. Speed them up to maximum speed for a head-on collision. Ram them into each other . . . and pray for a black hole to open exactly long enough to make them vanish forever.
- DukeMojo, on 04/20/2008, -1/+15I'd hate to see what happens when hit with scandal particles.
- jakobmakob, on 04/20/2008, -2/+15Agree with you completely, aside from the LOLgasm at the end.
- chrgrose, on 04/20/2008, -3/+15Furthermore, governmentium consists of one proton which repels peons with moronic forces which themselves consist of discrete packets called "deciders". These protons have also been known to whine, bitch, and go on vacation when external forces increase above one molton. On many occasions decider packets become unintelligable to surrounding particles which typically results in atomic collapse at which point the proton is ejected from the nucleus.
- ecarver530, on 04/20/2008, -3/+15yet you still want to elect someone like barack obama, whose quest is to only make the government larger and america more dependent on it by taking their money through higher taxes and forcing them to use universal healthcare and social security?
- inactive, on 04/20/2008, -4/+16How does that imply anything about his history knowledge? He's just saying things were different 225+ years ago...
- nbx909, on 04/20/2008, -1/+12The drowsy and sleep-deprived part comes due to any phone in a 25 mile radius of 1 gram of Clintonium will ring at 3 am.
- bphicke, on 04/20/2008, -1/+12it also causes you to lie before congress
- JustDino, on 04/20/2008, -4/+15It really is not a joke :-) We are ruled by regulation that our elected Representatives place in government positions. Only Congress can make laws---but they can get around making laws to their agenda and stopped by the voting public and Constitutional limits by placing bureaucrats that are not accountable to the voter to do their dirty work for them. In the form of regulation that acts as law. So when we get gripped at this control over us we need to look at where it started and vote them out of office
- govsucks, on 04/20/2008, -0/+10Not near as bad as collectonium, once created it forms a mob with a pull so powerful even free individuals can't escape. All free will, creativity and resources are sucked in and destroyed. Although matter streams back out when it gets full in the form of DMV and IRS employees.
- stealthc, on 04/20/2008, -1/+10This, of course, is the element that an overwhelming number of Diggers would LOVE to introduce into the Internet and health care (as if it hasn't got enough already).
- DocDEB, on 04/20/2008, -2/+11Bushonium (Bs) when combined with Governmentium (Gv) results in the much heavier element Nationaldebttium (Ba - from the original designation Bankrupttium). This element is highly toxic and the damage it causes lasts many years (let's just say your great grand children will still know it is around). The Chinese government is said to have acquired large stockpiles of Ba. What their intent is at this time is not known.
- rebrad, on 04/20/2008, -1/+10One theory says that Massive Black Holes are primarily made up of Governmentium or from the effects of Governmentium. It's also been observed that the physical and logical laws of the Universe are warped and distorted immediately in the vicinity of Governmentium.
- waluum, on 04/20/2008, -3/+12"I have often wondered what people like Madison, Jefferson, Adams, Washington, Monroe, Hamilton, or Jay would think about the ridiculous size of our government today...."
rEVOLution!!!!! - inactive, on 04/20/2008, -0/+9No need to wonder what they'd do. They showed their disdain via the first revolutionary war.
- philipl411, on 04/20/2008, -0/+9This can be answered. Their ideals on big government, blacks and women voting may not have changed at all. But women and blacks voting was from their time and would be thought of as old fashion today. However opposition Big government and its danger is timeless. They would rightly be opposed to it still
- vdog, on 04/20/2008, -1/+10what do you think "spontaneous annihilation reaction" means?
- doyoulikeworms, on 04/20/2008, -1/+8Neocons happened to "fiscally responsible" conservatives.
- fishbert, on 04/20/2008, -1/+8spiderpig! spiderpig!
- rottencod, on 04/20/2008, -0/+7Jefferson would have hated it, Adams would have wrung his hands about it and then gone along, Washington would have deferred to Jay, who would have asked the British what they think about it, Hamilton would think it isn't enough and that we should probably annex Mexico and Canada as well, and Madison and Monroe would just wait for somebody else to come to a conclusion about it. Now you know. :)
- deadlift, on 04/20/2008, -2/+8I applaud the subtle attack on the theory of bureaucracy in the submission description. It is just another reverberation on the strong flow of excessiveness surrounding our government practices.
My thoughts are quite not of myself at this point as I am intoxicated by the marijuana plant. - rottencod, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6It's actually 1 per about 689,000 people now. If we had 1 per 30,000, there would be 10,000 representatives in the House of Representatives instead of 435. Having that many people in Congress would be a disaster -- there would be way too many representatives for corporations to effectively buy the policies they want, and the representatives would have to resort to actually listening to their constituents to figure out how to vote. How terrible would THAT be?
10,000 people in Congress is a little ridiculous though, as long as the Government keeps operating like an 18th Century country club. Congress should be doing all of its work via the Internet, which would blow away a huge part of the administrative costs related to running the national legislature, as well as open new markets for private businesses to assist individual representatives keep track of everything rather than putting an enormous staff on the taxpayers' payroll. - hansk, on 04/20/2008, -1/+7how can it have a half life yet not decay?
- govsucks, on 04/20/2008, -1/+7Yeah, well ***** you losers. America wasn't built by people who needed a handout from government was it? No it was built by people who wandered out into the American wilderness with wild animals and dangers every place and still managed to build a life. People like you make me sick. Why don't you go get some help from government loser.
- remccain, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government) those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny” Thomas Jefferson
Sound familiar, people? Or does anyone really give a damn anymore? - Munkym, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6Wrong Wrong Wrong. Madison was one of the smallest gov't advocates. He was the author who penned most of the Federalist papers ensuring New York and Virginia they would not sacrifice their sovereign rights by ratifying the Constitution. Madison was the author of the Virginia Resolutions, warning about federal encroachments and that State gov'ts were responsible for protecting their citizens from unconstitutional federal laws. He believed in nullification and secession so... do research before telling others what to believe.
