- Glofern, on 05/21/2008, -32/+239It's about time that this hit the news! I've known about this for years and being Jewish, I was shocked at GW's comments made in Israel, no less, and the nerve that he has to talk about "appeasement" something that I wonder if he even knows the meaning of the word. I hope this information spreads far and wide and discredits anything, anymore, that the Bush Family has to say about anything other than when they are brought up for war crimes in the future.
- delelles, on 05/21/2008, -14/+198In 1933, Marine Corps Maj.-Gen. Smedley Butler was approached by a wealthy and secretive group of industrialists and bankers, including Prescott Bush the current President's grandfather, who asked him to command a 500,000 strong rogue army of veterans that would help stage a coup to topple then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -7/+171When it takes the panel on The View to bring this to light on TV, you know we are all in trouble.
- zoeasker, on 05/21/2008, -17/+181It speaks to the hubris of the Bush family that any of its members feel safe from its history coming out. Bush supporters were incensed by the lead Dixie Chick when she spoke critically of the Pres. in London. She was a private citizen, expressing her opinion, for which she has received numerous death threats. How much more inappropriate is the vitriol that spews from the mouth of our Chimp in Chief? I know that it isn't PC to prosecute a mentally deficient person, but he should be put away where he can not longer be a danger to himself or others.
- argaen21, on 05/21/2008, -11/+131Elizabeth Hasselbeck is really pretty. Too bad she is as dumb as a turd.
- BuckQJohnson, on 05/21/2008, -13/+127I have always wondered why the media in the US have never ever talked about this part of the presidents family, they never even brought it up during the BUSH I presidency. I think that there is a gag order or rule put out by the media via the Bush family to never mention this part of their family history, heck he almost went to jail because he broke the law back then that said you can't do business or anything with an enemy state (talk about appeasement). And that Hasselbeck woman on the view didn't want to talk about the ramifications or the problem with BUSH II talking about Obama as if he was an appeaser but knowing full well that his grandfather was one of the biggest of them all. All she did was to say that why can't we dig in Obamas past, like this is some 5th grade pissing match. This isn't, this is why the majority of us in the US are screwed up. We concern ourselves with one upmanship, but not debate the fact of this or the fact of that.
Seriously, have any of you seen any info about Prescott bush in the US MSM. Nobody has until now, and even PBS has never done anything about this or the 1933 coup that was attempted. They now many americans won't go out of their way to dig for information, so they either obfuscate or just plain lie and the peopel buy it. Americans have never tried a coup, not. Americans are no longer racists, not. Americans don't torture, not etc. etc.. They want americans to keep a world view about themselves that protray us as true blue and gallant warriors, and not like any other country on the planet. We are going to pay for our hubristic and narcississtic world view, because the people who want us to believe this are using us and using us bad. - EmileVictor, on 05/21/2008, -7/+92I tried to listen, but they all speak at once. Can women understand this?
- jumbalia, on 05/21/2008, -7/+91Wow, that blonde chick is a bitch! Talking about "icing" nations because they might have nukes. Yikes!
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -1/+53It is a dark and powerful magic that allows them to communicate like that, I tell ya.
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -1/+51It's the Bushes...
America is an aristocracy. It has been since the early 1900's. It just keeps pretending that it's a republic.
It looks like a conspiracy but it's really not. A conspiracy requires secrecy. They don't even need to be secretive it has now become the norm.
This is easy, they are all friends and they all depend on each other. It's a community of artistocrats. They keep their relative power by helping each other out.
"You make up some evidence, I give you a defense contract"
"You give me cheap ressources, I give you a no-bid contract"
"You give me a no-bid contract, I'll secure key objectives for you"
"You scratch my back, I steal public funds". - n0odles, on 05/21/2008, -12/+61Impeach the jerk already.
- strobelite33, on 05/21/2008, -10/+56Every time Elizabeth Hasselbeck talks, it just comes off as like the junior college chair of a Young Republicans group saying, "Yeah, I'll debate you; Just so you know, I've never really read anything...one time I couldn't find the remote and the TV was stuck on the History channel so I left it....will that work?"
- toddcat, on 05/21/2008, -1/+40And thank goodness he had better judgment than George W. Bush's grandfather. Smedley Butler had seen the evils of war and wrote this about it: http://www.lexrex.com/enlightened/articles/warisar ... The names have changed, but the principles are the same.
- Gwennyk, on 05/21/2008, -9/+47Finally! It's about time someone started talking about this!
- rmxz, on 05/21/2008, -3/+36"command a 500,000 strong rogue army of veterans"
Sounds somewhat similar to Blackwater. - yodaj007, on 05/21/2008, -1/+33I read his comment too, and I feel he made no such implication.
- BelatedHero, on 05/21/2008, -0/+29Whenever I come across Question Time (where the British PM basically gets grilled by the entire House of Commons on live TV) on C-SPAN, I imagine what it would be like to see Bush put under equivalent circumstances here. It would not be pretty.
- FTLJohnson, on 05/21/2008, -2/+29Actually, I don't know if Joy Behar is a liberal, she's a Ron Paul supporter... So, she's actually an extreme conservative. That's the problem with using meaningless words like 'Liberal" and 'Conservative" to describe sensible people that are supporting freedom, because those words are usually used to degrade people and talk about what they want to control (your money or your social life)
- Digger1218, on 05/21/2008, -3/+30Another hard-hitting report from the beacon of investigative journalism, The View!
- WTFppl, on 05/21/2008, -2/+27What, they held you back five years?
- submitdig, on 05/21/2008, -7/+31She probably even drives her $150,000 Mercedes to a million dollar church every Sunday to prey on her god like a good republi-con.
- pedo, on 05/21/2008, -9/+30if hasselbeck actually believes it was a "general statement" she's dumber than i thought. i suspect shes just full of ***** (lying). its really obvious that she has been coached by the republicans and is simply repeating their talking points.
its unfortunate that these women are so influential because they really don't know what they're talking about. - inactive, on 05/21/2008, -1/+22Since Sister Act 2 Whoopi Goldberg has received so many death threats she has built up an immunity.
- WTFppl, on 05/21/2008, -3/+24Regardless of any ones view of "The View". It's one hour daytime spot reached over 3ml people. Knowing that 8 of 10 are stupid, well, that's a lot of people who will be running around sporadically mentioning this to anyone at the drop of a hat, without thorough research into the topic. Even though this is true of the Bush Family Legacy, people need to do there own research into the matter and not take this info at face value. I'm just saying go read some history..."Because knowing is half the battle"- G.I. Joe
- evilregis, on 05/21/2008, -3/+22Some of the pretty ones learn early on that they needn't waste time with "book learnin'". They just need to maintain their looks and they'll get what they want along the way.
She's one of them. - pintomp3, on 05/21/2008, -1/+20i wonder if she would be in favor of "icing" israel for having nukes.
- BrapAllgood, on 05/21/2008, -3/+22Don't worry...when you get to 4th grade, it all changes.
- redstorm986, on 05/21/2008, -0/+19As long as they cited its a great way to find links to legit sources.
- pintomp3, on 05/21/2008, -1/+19the media didn't even bring up his DUI or his former cocaine habit, why would they bring up his grandfather?
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -3/+20The Criminal activities of Prescott Bush are well documented. This article reveals that they were sealed for some time but have been released. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/sep/25/usa.se ...
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -0/+17Have you ever met a group of women who know how to take turns talking? It's impossible.
- casek, on 05/21/2008, -2/+18glad that people are also catching wind of this.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 05/21/2008, -1/+17Here is one for you:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Business_Plot - yodaj007, on 05/21/2008, -4/+20And you deserve negative diggs.
- sircomix, on 05/21/2008, -3/+19He knows what it means NOW, because he's been prepped. But if put on
the spot by Chris Matthews I bet he could not pass a basic world
history test.
Bush always comes across to me like a kid doing an
oral report with less than adequate preparation. And he's run his
whole administration that way-literally faking it and "going with the
flow"as evil assmunches manipulate his puny brain. - revjustin2, on 05/21/2008, -0/+15I don't think that the media is necessarily being gagged by anything other then their own incompetence. Newsrooms are a joke - populated by so-called "journalists" who are trained to go after stories that will capture the public interest and increase viewership/readership/whatever so that more advertising can be sold at higher prices. As a result, these people simply play follow the leader and spout out the same old AP-newswire crap over and over again rather than actually do something that requires time and thought to produce. This is the only way they can survive professionally. There is very little support for much original content. The entire concept of mass media is biased towards this. The reason we didn't hear about the exploits of Prescott Bush before is because the Neo-con PR machine knows how the media works and how to get them to eat their ***** up like it's candy. Why is it that we, as a society, don't give credence to information until it is accepted by and subsequently reported on by the mass media? - especially when the grand majority of people can at least regurgitate the old adage of "just because it's on TV, doesn't mean it's true"? Until we can call ***** on the mass media and stop buying (literally) their crappy products, they will hold power over us and people with the money, power, and desire to use this to their advantage will continue to play the game to further their own agendas.
- takamalak, on 05/21/2008, -1/+15I dugg you up for using 'prey' instead of 'pray'.
- casek, on 05/21/2008, -4/+18funny that there is no conspiracy here. it's all in those things we older folks like to call "history books".
stop trying to "tinfoil hat" the truth away. - BlacklabelSAR, on 05/21/2008, -1/+14"You implied the Bush made a death threat against her, is this true?"
No he did not. Your ability to understand what you have read needs a lot of improvement. - BetterOffEd, on 05/21/2008, -4/+17Source?
- blogspinner, on 05/21/2008, -0/+12Agreed. Elizabeth "blondie" Hasselbeck is an imbecile who drinks the neo-con kool-aid
- thedsack, on 05/21/2008, -3/+15To see or listen to the story that broke the news about Prescott Bush:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/document/docum ... - futimazar, on 05/21/2008, -3/+15Funny how the last thing these morons can try to hide behind is the conspiracy theory label. It must hurt so much to be such an intellectual coward you disregard information that is all public and verifiable just to defend your little Texas "hero". What must hurt more is that you macho-worship a man who likes to dress up in cowboy costumes and talk tough. Lol
- bicyclethief, on 05/21/2008, -5/+16Bush's rhetoric pretty much promotes a hard line stance of war or appeasement, with nothing in between. And that's just morally and diplomatically wrong. I'm glad people are seeing through his *****, even if it's The View.
- thedsack, on 05/21/2008, -0/+11To see or listen to the story that broke the news about Prescott Bush:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/document/docum ... - submitdig, on 05/21/2008, -5/+16The Bush family... what an utterly worthless, decadent family - with all the trappings of succe$$ but no real success or worthy contributions to humanity. So they can understand - a family of rich lumpenproletariats.
- Nutmegan, on 05/21/2008, -1/+11Did you just call the View "news"?
- casek, on 05/21/2008, -2/+12calling the truth conspiracy? wtf? where do you get off?
