- emazur, on 11/12/2008, -1/+20Stossel is the man. If you haven't seen his 20/20 video "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Politics" you owe it to yourself to check it out:
http://digg.com/political_opinion/20_20_Politicall ... - citcokid, on 11/12/2008, -1/+20FTA: "Obama promises:
"We will change the world ... There is nothing we can't do, nothing we can't accomplish if we are unified."
Who is this "we" politicians always cite?
We can change the world for the better if "we" means hundreds of millions of free people pursuing their interests, inventing, building, parenting, helping.
But the politicians' "we" is different. It means government. "We" will take your money by force and order you about. A democracy can become the tyranny of the majority. That's no way to create prosperity."
From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. This is true socialist-communist ideology at its core. - Striker101, on 11/12/2008, -2/+20FTA: "What will happen when the unintended consequences hit? F.A. Hayek warned that a government serious about enacting its economic plan must be prepared to use heavy-handed measures. Is that what we want?"
Of course not, and that is why Obama is not my President. - inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+18FTA - But the excitement also frightens me. It reinforces the worst impulse of the media and political class: the assumption that all progress comes from Washington. In a free society, with constitutionally limited government, the president would be a mere executive who sees to it that predictable and understandable laws are enforced. But sadly, the prestige and power of the presidency have grown, and liberty has contracted. That is not something to celebrate.
For me, this is where Stossel hit the nail on the head. The constitutional republic that we once were has been ruined by an ever encroaching ruling class that has been allowed to remove anything that from their point of view is in the way, without regard for the consequences the rest of us must endure. - wariscrime, on 11/12/2008, -2/+15Obama "achieved" the presidency, lol! And it "says something good about America"!? All it says is that "We have the best government that money can buy" (Mark Twain). Obama doesn't say a word from himself. He says what he is told to say. By whom? By those who invested $600 million in his election - an all-time record. The only thing it says about America is that America keeps on hallucinating.
- wjappe, on 11/12/2008, -0/+8Less government should include less President, if you get my drift. I'm not crazy about him either.

All the crying about "Bush the dictator"

- algaeturd, on 11/13/2008, -7/+2Meh, I think Stossel is a hack. He started out as someone with potential and just became a prick doing the 'Give Me a Break' segments. He is an observer. Nothing else. Not a reporter, certainly not a writer. He watches people and then tries to tell everyone else what this person is doing wrong.
In journalism, it's a kind of bottom of the barrel editorializing...the thing that many small town papers do. I didn't see anything impressive or groundbreaking in the article and in fact, thought it was kind of unprofessional and sophomoric.
You're going to take seriously a man who gets on TV about coffee being sold too hot who ends his segments with 'Give me a BREAK!'
Really? What's next? Political advice from Perez Hilton?
