    I do have one, small, exception to make. The author states: "Our foreign policy has been hijacked and placed at the disposal of a foreign power, one with a very powerful American lobby – so powerful that no U.S. politician dares defy it, including the sainted Obama."

    There is at least one U.S. politician who dares, and does, consistently defy this lobby: Ron Paul.

  • caferrell, on 05/13/2008, -7/+17It is so sad to be a witness to this Greek Tragedy, it is worse because we are part of it. We are the chorus that will suffer when the inevitable destruction follows the unstoppable bad decision.
    The gods will not allow any of the other actors (Obama, the senate, the media) to speak up or see the danger.
    As in a Greek Tragedy, the fatal deneoument is determined from the first stanza. There is no way to stop destiny.

    Is this the way our Representative Republic is supposed to work? We were modeled after the Roman Republic, not after some Greek Democracy of mob rule. We have been men and women who shape destiny, not sheep that fail to see the knife of the abbatoire.

    Its disgusting. Its pathetic and as soon as I can afford to, I am leaving this country again, and this time for good.

America cannot even afford to fix the roads, they certainly cant afford the $3 trillion or more the Iraq war will cost in total (assuming McCain doesnt get his 100 years wish), and the cost of attacking Iran will simply be the final straw. The Chinese have been using the 8 years Bush has wasted to invest in their infrastructure and science and technology, while we have been financing wars and big cooperations poisoning our air, water, and food supply. But truly those who did nothing and allowed their voices to be downed out by the so called pundits (Fox News, Cnn, etc) have wrought what their silence has begotten.

    But then again,
    # April 1983 U.S. Embassy bombing
    # 1983 Beirut barracks bombing
    # kidnappings of Western, especially American, targets in the 80s
    # the January 15, 2008, bombing of a U.S. Embassy vehicle in Beirut.
    All these were attacks by Hezbollah on US targets. And Iran is ***** supporting them.
