The New Cold War
nytimes.com — The right question for the next U.S. president isn ’t whether we talk or don’t talk with Iran. It’s whether we have leverage or don’t have leverage.

- chicofaraby, on 05/15/2008, -1/+5Sorry Mr Friedman, but I truly don't give a ***** about the survival of Israel. I'm not Israeli and they have shown themselves to be evil. Your column makes the same stupid assumption that all of the right wing corporate media makes. The same assumption that has brought America to our current state of committing an illegal war of aggression. You assume that the USA has the right to tell the Arab world how to act. We don't. We never will. We shouldn't. We are wrong to be in the Middle East. The Iranians live there. We don't.
On the other hand, I agree that this a new cold war. In that it is a bogus, trumped up pile of crap designed to put tax dollars into corporate pockets.- 808ethan, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1I would actually go the other way and say we should completely tell the Arab world what to do. Ruled by religious fanatisicm, supressing reason, their culture doesn't allow them to live peacefully among their own sub-cultures much less with other cultures, and what do women do in their culture again?
It may be distasteful but I honestly say if we applied Natural Selection to cultures and wiped out any that enforces ignorance or can't leave peacefully, the world would get a lot better real fast.
Drastic but I reccomend sterilization. They get to live out the life they were given, but after they live out their life, their hostile way of life would die off. If we were too strict deciding whose microcultures need to go, I wouldn't be happy if I was sterilized, but Id be fine. Better than being locked in a Chinese prison for life or executed for spreading censored truths.- chicofaraby, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3Fine as long as I get to chose who lives and who dies.
- 808ethan, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Will you settle for chosing who gets to reproduce?
