- THEROC, on 06/08/2009, -30/+193That's a great article. It's funny how much Obama's campaign rhetoric deviates from his recent rhetoric and how much his rhetoric deviates from his actions.
Do you remember: "Guantanamo? That's easy. Close down Guantanamo"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7qkEholuT8
He's continuing the insane policies of Bush, while criticizing Bush for them.
Denial of habeas corpus, Guantanamo, Military commissions, Threatening Iran, Spreading the war into Afghanistan and Pakistan. etc.
Not to mention his crazy domestic policies like transferring trillions from the american people to failing wall street companies.
I really hope that it doesn't take progressives as long to wake up to this lunatic as it took conservatives to wake up to Bush. - FrozenPie, on 06/08/2009, -9/+106How did McCain get nominated again wtf?
- mikebrinkman, on 06/08/2009, -35/+125Conflicted. Do I digg for Ron Paul, or bury for HuffPo?
- Networktwenty3, on 06/08/2009, -9/+97At least I know I supported the right person. For Obama to laugh off the top digg question on marijuana and 50% of americans supporting it, that was a slap in the face... but Obama is nothing more then your typical politician.
- McLieberman, on 06/08/2009, -40/+125CONGRESS - One Hero of the People, Ron Paul and 534 Liars, Cowards, Profiteers, and/or Thieves!
- harrisbradley, on 06/08/2009, -14/+97I'm so glad Ron Paul hasn't faded away since the election. I think I see/hear him more now than ever. And that's a good thing.
- freebirdj316, on 06/08/2009, -18/+91Way to go, Ron Paul. Ever consistent, ever truthful. Please, Americans of all political leanings, listen to and research this wise and noble man. He is the real deal.
- Ronuloid, on 06/08/2009, -31/+101Ron Paul is my president!
- bobjrn2, on 06/08/2009, -16/+80How could anyone not want to elect this guy as president? He wants to get rid of the IRS. He wants to bring your loved ones home from battle. He wants to strength our economy by stopping the bail out of the rich, stop giving money to other countries, and give money to the people by suspending taxes. This guy makes so much sense!
- diggduggDOOM, on 06/08/2009, -2/+53The Republicans mocked Ron Paul before voting for McCain in the primaries.
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 06/08/2009, -12/+62Wow, I think I finally found a Huffington Post article that I can digg.
- Ne007, on 06/08/2009, -8/+56If you believe in Ron Paul's principles then join the Ron Paul Revolution:
http://www.campaignforliberty.com/
They are one of the only organizations that are getting people together to fight for our liberties. I love how they keep me informed on the issues and help me to be able to notify the appropriate representatives on my stances. - larrimer7, on 06/08/2009, -15/+61Oh, how I wish Ron Paul was the president.
- JigoroKano, on 06/08/2009, -4/+48The primary debates seemed to indicate that the Republican base had developed a raging erection for torture and war.
- MooseOfReason, on 06/08/2009, -11/+54"In style, they are different. The tone is different and I think there is a benefit to that. But his policies don't change. Ultimately, policies win out. The strong statements against Iran are still there. And, right now, going through our committee (the Congressional International Relations Committee/the Foreign Affairs Committee), stronger sanctions will be put on Iran - just looking for another fight. And we have taken the position we will not allow them to proceed on any nuclear testing, even if it is within the law and even if it is done peacefully. We are not going to permit that. So no, that position hasn't changed."
Obama's for change! He'll veto those sanctions, right?
/s - DtotheC34, on 06/08/2009, -18/+60Ron Paul 2012.
- Shwaavay, on 06/08/2009, -2/+41Isn't this like crossing the beams in Ghostbusters?
- macinit1138, on 06/08/2009, -3/+40The reason Ron Paul wasn't deemed 'unelectable' was due to the political axiom that states that politicians aren't elected to change things, they're elected to keep things the way they are. Hence the reason for unchanging policies in the 'new' administration.
- Barackalypse, on 06/08/2009, -9/+45Don't forget his executive order that continues the practice of rendition (secret abductions of suspects and transfers to foreign countries for interrogation) and his support of state secrets in the warrantless wiretapping case. Although had people been paying attention when he was a Senator and voted to grant telcoms immunity for those warrantless wiretaps in the FISA spy bill amendments and his vote to re-authorize the Patriot Act, they probably would have known better than to expect any real change on the issues.
- hawkspur, on 06/08/2009, -21/+56Paul is brilliant. One of the few politicians that has made sense over the last few years. It's too bad some of his supporters get into that whole "ALEX JONES NWOOOOOOSHEEEEEEEEEPLE" ***** and hurt his reputation.
- RainCloud, on 06/08/2009, -3/+37I don't like how articles that involve Ron Paul always devolve into the same old discussion about Ron Paul himself instead of the issues relevant to the article.
In this case I agree with Ron Paul. Sadly Obama hasn't changed our foreign policy as much I was hoping he would. - yocouchdigga, on 06/08/2009, -9/+41Kucinich's not a bad guy...
- bradleyland, on 06/08/2009, -4/+36When you think about it, this is really representative of the reasons why Ron Paul makes an excellent candidate. Prior to the last election, Paul's organization put together an event where all the third-party candidates (except Bob Barr [***** you, Bob]) showed up to *agree* on some common principles. These are people who are looking for common ground, and are willing to sit down at a table to find it.
Ron Paul agreeing to an interview with the Huffington Post says to me that he can see past ideological differences long enough to sit down and have a productive conversation with the "other side". That says a lot for a man's character. - SamSks, on 06/08/2009, -2/+31Republicans no longer are the party of low taxes, small government, fiscal responsibility, and respecting the rule of law -especially the Constitution (Free Speech Zones indeed!).
The Republican party is now the party of: borrow and spend, war - borrowing for that too, propping up big business while screwing over small business people and the tax payer, low taxes and borrowing for the short fall, and getting this country to be a theocracy.
Barry Goldwater - the last TRUE Republican. And no, Ron Regan was a LIBERAL! Hear that Sean! Which means, Sean Hannity, as a self described "Regan Conservative" makes you a LIBERAL! Hahahahahahahahah! - hawkspur, on 06/08/2009, -13/+41He's the only Congressman who isn't in a lobbyists pocket?
- bunk995, on 06/08/2009, -2/+30Ron Paul cannot be bought. That's a fact.
- inactive, on 06/08/2009, -21/+48Paul's main liabilty is his conspiracy seeing, spamming, idiotic followers.
- MooseOfReason, on 06/08/2009, -2/+28Why hasn't he co-sponsored the bill to audit the Federal Reserve, HR 1207?
- censormagnet, on 06/08/2009, -8/+33real american statesman
- Njon, on 06/08/2009, -15/+39I had to endure submitting something from The Huffington Post. Ugh.
- AWBoy666, on 06/08/2009, -18/+42Digging you up bc you are pointing out that liberals should hate Obama too.
- Thinbev, on 06/08/2009, -2/+25Ron Paul's free market philosophy is a threat to the big government protected corporations!
The big corporations HATE competition. They don't want the little guy to compete against them. The big greedy corporations love having government regulations that make it impossible and expensive for the "little people" to compete against them. They love their strong ties to our politicians which affords them an unfair advantage over the hard working American without any political ties.
Don't be confused, free markets doesn't mean we legalize fraud. Free markets is the only way to go!
Wake up America! - PeppermintPig, on 06/08/2009, -4/+26"Conservatives never woke up to Bush."
Generalization. Most of the Tea Party goers could be described as half asleep, though.
"Trillions to prevent the US economy from completely pancaking? I'm for that. "
Borrowing and spending too much money to deal with a problem caused by borrowing and spending too much money is crazy. The underlying problem is that you can't 'create' value by printing dollars.
"Guantanamo? He tried to close it, but couldn't get the $'s."
That's one of the biggest jokes. What happens if they just stop funding it? It really costs more to close it down than to keep running it? How much does it cost per day for all these illegal conflicts? - ElKabong61, on 06/09/2009, -7/+28Thank you Huffington Post for this article, but shame on you for your blind support of Obama in the presidential race. Yes. Thanks to media cheerleaders who were duped by Obama's charisma--like the Huffington Post--we get another 4 years of weak leadership.
All during the '08 race, the media marginalized Ron Paul and his supporters. You made it seem like the only ones supporting Ron Paul were strippers, 911 truthers and drunken pop singers. You painted someone who could have saved us from the mess we (and our children) are in right now as an unelectable kook when he was the only one with a clue!! How off-base could you and the rest of the mainstream media have been?
It figures that this is not on the front page. Huff-Po, you're part of the problem, not part of the solution. - ironhide, on 06/08/2009, -13/+33"Millions of Americans are being detained without a trial in FEMA camps"
"...mind control experiments conducted by the CIA"
....and people wonder why no one takes Paul seriously. - j.carcinogen, on 06/08/2009, -2/+22The man or his electability is not the paramount issues here but rather the ideas.
- hawkspur, on 06/08/2009, -7/+27I would have voted for Paul if he had won the nomination, but STFU with the NWO *****. It makes Ron Paul's legitimate opinions and stances become diluted when the suppporters blather on about conspiracy theories.
- MooseOfReason, on 06/08/2009, -2/+22Actually, it's only been 96 years, and the dollar is worth about 4 cents of what it was worth before we had the Fed. So... they are pretty close. Your example is like saying, "We haven't killed the frog yet, but we are steadily increasing the flame beneath the pot."
We have 55,000 troops in Germany. I think they're perfectly able to defend themselves. Why should we have troops there?
http://siadapp.dmdc.osd.mil/personnel/MILITARY/his ...
No interest in bringing justice? He introduced a bill to authorize Letters of Marque to go after the specific individuals behind 9/11. We could have gotten them by now. - swoopdog, on 06/08/2009, -3/+22support a free America
***** drug reform its time to Legalize and Reconstitutionalize!
RON PAUL! - RonPauls, on 06/08/2009, -16/+35Every single criticism of RP on this thread has been either
1. Straw Man
2. Ad Hominem
If you don't understand his foreign policy views (or other), learn them first.
He's not just gonna snap his fingers and we won't have a military and central bank overnight. Guess What! He's been in congress for a long time - he knows that there will be a transition phase.
Now, here is an example of a valid criticism of Ron Paul:
"His advocacy of a constitutional government does not support the non-aggression principle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-aggression_princi ... Considering that the U.S. Constitution either led to, or was unable to stop, the formation of the current tyrannical federal government - why are we only seeking to devolve power to that degree?" - baillingskater, on 06/08/2009, -18/+36send this to everyone you know. cant believe its not on the front page
- BotchaMcCoola, on 06/08/2009, -5/+22Certainly by audience applause Paul won the Republican Primary debates. McCain gave embarrassed grins meanwhile. Country First, McCain - Not MIC First!
- Jo9100, on 06/08/2009, -27/+43Ron who? Never heard of him on Digg.
- ironhide, on 06/08/2009, -9/+25You're free to believe whatever you want, you are not free to impose those beliefs on anyone else.
- kkonarik, on 06/09/2009, -0/+15No what they are doing is throwing more paper on the fire which will only cause it to burn even hotter in the end.
- ArvinJA, on 06/09/2009, -0/+15appleofdischord, "Son, I am very in disappoint... You said no killing, but you killing people. You said no torture people, but you do torture. Son I am very disappoint, you said you were transparent, but your opacity is 100 in photoshop, very disappoint"?
I would say that it is more rational to hate him, he kills people. - bobjrn2, on 06/08/2009, -16/+31Allow corporations to rape you without regulation? The government is raping you everyday with taxes, printing money, giving bail outs to ***** companies, giving money to countries such as Iran, Iraq, Israel, etc when we own China trillions of dollars, handing out monopolized contracts.
I can choose what corporation I give my money to, I can't choose what government TAKES my money. - irkalla, on 06/08/2009, -3/+17Senate is exactly as described, but there are at least a few decent House members.
- darkened, on 06/09/2009, -0/+14I don't agree with Kucinich's policies at all but I will admit he is one of the few politicians you can use in the same sentence about integrity with his name next to Ron Paul's name.
- PeppermintPig, on 06/08/2009, -0/+14Total protonic reversal.
