  • Maninthemiddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Several Canadian provinces are looking either to eliminate single pay, or supplement with private medical care - because it does not work well in many cases. Before moving to the US, my workmate injured his knee, and waited six months without having surgery scheduled. He came to the US and had surgery thirty days after starting work (his medical kicked into gear). Unfortunately, his repairs were complicated by the long wait. One in ten Canadian physicians are already in the US (disproportionately specialists), and in some specialties 1 in 4 have expressed interest. Oddly, stiff US immigration rules have stifled this trend. (Hmmmm... keep doctors/specialists out, but let infinite illegals with little or no.... never mind - that's another post.)
