- TSCheredar, on 10/25/2009, -30/+125Fox news is to Journalism as Pro Wrestling is to Fighting.
- DangerCollie, on 10/25/2009, -21/+87It'll work. Just like the public option debate. In August health care reform was on the ropes and the public option was dead. But the longer people looked at the issue, the more attention it got, the facts came out and the numbers came back up. Way up.
Same thing will happen here. For a while Fox will benefit from the spotlight. Over time people will start realizing that yeah, Fox really is partisan. Rupert Murdoch doesn't deny it, every one of his media outlets is a right wing tabloid, regardless of the country. As other stations start fact-checking them the scrutiny will not be flattering. And the more Fox and the GOP yap about an enemies list and how unfair it is, the more scrutiny their stories will get from other networks.
If Fox was an actual news organization, it would have backfired. But it's the truth and that will win out over time. This isn't we don't agree with your opinion, it's that we don't like your lies, innuendo, and outright fabrications.
And then the righties blunder right into that fake story about Obama's dissertation. Way to validate what the opposition is saying about you, meatheads. - Anomaly100, on 10/25/2009, -13/+63There ratings went down last week. Not in large numbers, but honestly, why do ratings have anything to do with truth? Come on, attacking the President for liking MUSTARD on his hamburger? How about the power fist? The teleprompter? This has nothing to do with news. The day after Obama was sworn in, I heard, "where's the change?" and "Justice Roberts slipped up, so Obama isn't really the President!."
I like mustard, so I guess I'm evil too. Bad Anomaly! - emailowndme, on 10/25/2009, -13/+47Brittny Spears had a lot of listeners. People still listen to nirvana. Whenever there is a traffic accident, everyone on california freeways slows down to get a good look.
Clearly, the next big threat to Obama, politically, is California Freeway accident party's candidate. - goomba323, on 10/25/2009, -8/+40I think more people voted for Obama than watch Fox News.......by a lot.
- life036, on 10/25/2009, -9/+39Why does simply stating the truth have to be meticulously dissected as some sort of grand political scheme?
- deathweaver108, on 10/25/2009, -9/+33Speaking the Truth: What's the upside?
.... self evident if you ask me... - SoulGrub, on 10/25/2009, -4/+26Bs. Fox News has dominated cable since what 10+ years now? effectively shifting public debate. Pretending they don't exist doesn't work.
- mark925, on 10/25/2009, -16/+36Whatever the case, it sure is nice to see and hear the White House calling them out on their ***** instead of dancing around the obvious.
- inactive, on 10/25/2009, -6/+22Maybe they should start wearing tights and yelling really loudly while reading their teleprompter.
- inactive, on 10/25/2009, -5/+21They have the hot slutty women already.
- inactive, on 10/25/2009, -3/+19MSNBC is the network that is critical of Obama on those issues. Despite their leftwing slant, they are still journalists. Fox is not journalism. It's tabloid rightwing crazy distilled into ratings gold. Fox News is basically the shrieking crazy people who think net neutrality is communism.
- theonlywizdum, on 10/25/2009, -4/+18My parents were right, this is the generation of "ME ME ME NOW NOW NOW!" If it can't happen in 5 seconds, it's not worth doing, right?
- ugetab, on 10/26/2009, -4/+17Not to excuse uninformed pro-obama voters, but my grandparents watch Fox News almost exclusively for TV news...and had no idea that 30 GOP senators voted against a policy that said, effectively, "Don't give government contracts to companies that force rape cases into arbitration, at the expense of filing a civil suit", nor that there was even anything newsworthy occurring about any of the recognizable sub-topics, such as '30 GOP senators', 'rape amendment', or anything else I could find to associate the topic with to them in case it has been mentioned passively.
There may be a problem, but the number of 'thoroughly-uninformed democrats' I see is a far cry from the visible number of, or damage done by, the 'truth-distorting republicans' I notice. - Dregganaut, on 10/25/2009, -6/+18I see you ate up the GOP talking point "Obama is Nixon"
- jdenzer, on 10/25/2009, -4/+16Several years later, where is the "...Greeted as Liberators", "...the last throes","...grand square in Baghdad that is named after President Bush". " ...the success will be fairly easy" on the Iraq war?
How about the "Dead or alive" for catching Bin Laden? How is that going?
I Guess Bush is using the O.J. Simpson approach. - Maddoktor2, on 10/26/2009, -2/+12"Ignoring lies encourages them to perpetuate."

Fox News:Far Right
Talk Radio: Far Right
CNN: Tabloid
Network News:Moderate
MSNBC:Left-Center, in American viewpoints anyway. - Spartandog, on 10/25/2009, -12/+21The upside for us would be if Fox News disappeared.
- Natnie, on 10/25/2009, -1/+10I think you mean it's what Twilight is to *literature*.
- Dregganaut, on 10/25/2009, -7/+16You ate up Glenn Beck's talking point:

stop being a sheep - endlessirony, on 10/25/2009, -2/+10Except Fox news doesn't debate any of these issues at all they spend most their time making up the news. There is plenty of criticism out there for Obama but Fox news is not interested in facts or news.
- Dregganaut, on 10/25/2009, -5/+13"People need to get out of the this right/left paradigm"
Yes, starting with you, hypocrite. - Naumadd, on 10/25/2009, -14/+21Sure, President Obama stated the glaringly obvious but, the thing about stating the obvious is there are always plenty of individuals for which it isn't obvious and who may or may not benefit from stating it. From observations thus far, I gather Barack Obama is intelligent enough to know that, hence his likely motivation in stating what so many already know ... and what so many apparently know and willfully dismiss or don't know at all.
Dear Fox News,
You're fooling no one but fools.
Sincerely,
The Grownups - Squidgius, on 10/25/2009, -1/+8Why would Fox criticize the President on those points? The GOP doesn't want any of those things. It's the progressives that are breathing down his neck about getting all of that done.
- badqat, on 10/25/2009, -2/+9Oh, you may have just given them that talking point. Seriously...the adults with the brains...we're not in charge of the party...we're all classified as "wackos" or "nut jobs" because we believe in liberty and really would impose fiscal discipline on federal, state and local levels. We'd get rid of atrocities like the "war on drugs" (which was really a war on families) and kick out the real nutbags in the party if we could.
But we're a minority in our party. There just aren't that many of us.
Problem is, you'd have to watch Fox News to find out if you did just clue them in. - theexitwound, on 10/25/2009, -4/+11Bush did it to MSNBC as the end of his reign (of terror).
- richoid, on 10/26/2009, -7/+14There's no downside: Fox watchers are ignorant, anti-reality boobs... they've already been alienated. On the other hand, it confirms for a lot of people that they aren't running a news network.
- Dregganaut, on 10/25/2009, -5/+12I see we've all forgotten the last 8 years of "Liberal Media!"
- Dregganaut, on 10/25/2009, -4/+11lol
you're special - ironhide, on 10/26/2009, -6/+13More people watch re-runs of "Spongebob Squarepants" than watch FOX according to Nielsen.
On a good night FOX will pull 3 million viewers. The U.S. has a population of *300* million. - zsavior, on 10/26/2009, -9/+16You know I am getting tired of the crap against MSNBC. They aren't Pro obama matter of fact Keith Olberman got slammed when he said Obama should be holding those people who did torture in Guantanamo bay accountable. MSNBC is anti nut-wing b.s. And I don't even mean RIGHT WING. I mean those nut jobs in side the conservative and republican party that are just bloody insane.
Where are the MSNBC sponsored Liberal Universal Health Care marches? I mean I just don't see them, I guess When Rachel Maddow dismantled Tim Phillips that was just fake Journalism because she didn't let a corporate shill off the hook for his true purpose in the health care debate. - neoquietus, on 10/26/2009, -2/+8From what I have heard, during the presidential campaign the Obama campaign tried to reach out to Fox viewers, by ads and other methods, and found that no matter what they did, nothing worked. In that case, simply calling out Fox on their ***** is not a bad strategy, because the evidence suggests that there are no people watching Fox who are persuadable.
In other words, it appears that people who watch Fox are 100% against Obama no matter what. In that case there is no downside to doing what he is doing. - emailowndme, on 10/25/2009, -2/+8Well, I think he should just do what Bush did, inadvertently create a public emergency, by failing to read up on our intelligence which clearly explained a threat was present, what day that threat would come, and how that threat would manifest, then use that public emergency as a gigantic ratings boost, also, use the podium to tell people to shop, that outta give the guy a couple years of good public ratings.
- emailowndme, on 10/25/2009, -7/+13Quite the opposite, Rove hurt people with cloak and dagger tactics, outing CIA operatives and such, breaking ***** laws.
Rahm works in the light, which is the real brilliance, Rove would look like a ignominious troll or some sort of Dr.Evil-esque villain if his activities were in the light. No one knew about him until he was busted and told the congress to ***** off.
Rahm, can, with an utterance, spirals the right wing into a sputter of activity, ignoring all else, to yell louder, to try and make those "libruls" pay, while tripping over themselves and making themselves out to exactly what Rahm says they are. That's the brilliance of Rahm, he plays the right wing like a flute, getting them to do what he wants them to do, proving his comments which prompt them to action, true.
Etc. See Rush Limbaugh, and his king of the Republican party comments, which were also brilliant. - emailowndme, on 10/25/2009, -3/+9clearly, millions were spent coming up with the "call out the faux news" plan. Tanks and bombers were deployed and I hear our armed forces are on their way.
Thus far, it's been more successful, legitimate, and a ***** load cheaper than anything Bush did while in office. - emailowndme, on 10/26/2009, -2/+8It had it's necessary effect. It's a bad joke, but, it's fitting, and typically works with just about anything involving fox news or just republicans in general.
I like to use the broken clock is right twice daily anecdote when dealing with Ron Pauler's. - Propethic, on 10/26/2009, -1/+7Please, 99% of talk radio is conservative
- inactive, on 10/25/2009, -2/+8Red herring.
You said most of these issues are untouched, but the link you posted says otherwise.
Posting the link is a vain attempt to make your claim more legitimate. - IgorUnchained, on 10/25/2009, -4/+10Who wants to smell what Steve Doocy is cooking?????
- MisteryMeat, on 10/26/2009, -1/+7@JoeyNine - First off, there's no denying that Fox is just an outlet for the Republican party. I voted for this party in 2000. They did not deliver small, efficient, and effective government. They brought us spending on a massive scale, much of it a blatant waste of taxpayer money. This is a party forming policy based on connections rather than what is best for our country. If what you say is true then I certainly hope you are not voting Republican.
So if it's not the (D) label or his color, what is it? The rhetoric? As Republicans frequently point out here on Digg, there has not been much change yet. - ironhide, on 10/26/2009, -3/+9Touchy touchy kids. Don't bury the messenger. Go look at the Nielsen ratings for yourselves.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 10/26/2009, -1/+6This is not a first amendment issue you ***** moron...
- 5urr3al5am, on 10/26/2009, -1/+6@ugetab -- but if they watched any of the other network 'news' they wouldn't have known about the ACORN Child sex slave scandal
- inactive, on 10/26/2009, -3/+8David besides that you work for Fox, you're a blatant liar:
"Look, the bottom line is that Fox News brings all sides of an issue to the table when reporting the news,"
LOLOLOL. Seriously? did you really just type that in? No one can be that delusional. It's so obvious that you're running interference for Rupert. - orlandogeek, on 10/26/2009, -6/+11Saying it's solely about race? Very bad form there. I'd be greatly surprised if everyone over 18 in the US was surveyed if more than 3% said they disliked him because of his race. Far more people dislike him for several reasons. I'd bet the top 3 (in no particular order) would be:
-> The Fox News / Far Right fringe / Tea Party group would say it's because he's a Democrat
-> Independents and moderates from both parties would say it's primarily because of spending.
-> Liberals would say it's because he hasn't been liberal enough and has continued several Bush policies. - ygugsa295, on 10/25/2009, -10/+15Fox News is to journalism as
Nickelback is to music
Twilight is to movies
and It's Always Sunny is to unfunny television. - neognostic, on 10/26/2009, -3/+7Spread the word my friend!
- JoeyNine, on 10/26/2009, -2/+6"Most of Fox news - and even the liberal news networks - would not even be allowed to speak the venom that comes out of the mouths of the opinionated pundits. News networks here are looked over by a non-partisan organization called the CRTC."
Which is why I am glad I don't live in Canada. I'd rather have my news media looking over the government, not the other way around. - Dregganaut, on 10/25/2009, -3/+7"he has stated many times that the Bill Of Rights is a "charter of negative liberties""
