- michaelpann1, on 07/19/2008, -1/+10Hmm? shotsy5, in what article is Dr. Paul "tap dance" and use "ambiguous phraseology?" He certainly isn't being vague in the article linked to this Digg. I want to let other Diggers know, Ron Paul is clear in explaining how we come to where we are in our monetary/political crisis. He explains, quite succinctly and in the context of American monetary history, why we are where we are. If there is any one person standing in the breech against all odds and the arrayed elite political forces, it is Dr. Ron Paul. ShotSys, with all the speeches, interviews and books from RP that you and the world have at your disposal, if you haven't figured out what practical personal steps to take to endure the present crisis, then you need to go back through RP's vast archive and seriously review. Your carping is without merit. But, in the event I am wrong, since you take the position that RP didn't go far enough and only gave us "fluff" to digest, can you pick up where RP left off? Please give us Digg readers some practical guidance to use in our present monetary and political crisis.

He sees lots of issues that are coming to a head & rather than address each individually, he warns us of a coming crisis. When so much is going wrong, it is sometimes difficult to know how to address all of the problems in a reasonably short and coherent statement.

- elephanterin, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2What's not right to you is that you have to think for yourself that you might actually have to DO something to prevent such a looming crisis as the one we have at hand. Why should Dr. Paul freak out? He is the voice of reason in a whirlwind of media blitz. It makes sense that he should stay calm to explain such horrendous crisis as the dissolution of our borders, the collapse of our currency, and therefore the potential of social chaos.
This sort of calm is step one for the public to be ok with reality. - shotsy5, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2One point of clarification, which I just discovered:
This speech actually opens with the salutation: " Madame Speaker".
In oither words, this was an address given in the House of Representatives, and was
never addressed to us, the general public.
That makes a lot more sense, and explains what was odd about it.. - CCoburn3, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1The "no coverage" whining is a cop out & you know it. It's up to the candidate to generate news. If the candidate generates enough news, then he WILL be covered.
Ron Paul raised tens of millions of dollars -- more than any other candidate in the race. How many TV ads did he run? He didn't run any in Tennessee and we have more delegates than West Virginia. How many radio ads did he run? None that I know of. Newspaper ads? Still batting zero.
So what did he do with the millions we gave him? Hell if I know. But I do know one thing. He DIDN'T use it to campaign for the GOP nomination. As far as I can tell, he still has it.
Look. We had high hopes for Ron Paul. We gave and we gave and we gave. And Ron Paul took and he took and he took. But Ron Paul didn't spend the money for the purpose we intended. Not only that, he had no intention of spending the money on a campaign for the GOP nomination. The fact that he spent Super Tuesday trying to get West Virginia's 18 delegates shows how little he cared about being the nominee.
Had he really intended to run for president, he would have spent some of that money on ads that told people what a disaster McCain is. He would have spent some of that money showing how he offered a real alternative. He would have FOUGHT for the nomination. And he would have done it in places where they actually had enough delegates to make a difference.
Instead, he made a few scholarly speeches on economics that no doubt thrilled the half dozen or so people who both read LewRockwell & vote in elections. No doubt, they were great speeches. But that's all they were and that's all his "candidacy" was -- an opportunity to make a few speeches. He never seriously tried to become the nominee & obviously never intended to make any serious attempt.
But he took our money anyway. He took it knowing that he was not going to use it in an attempt to be nominated. That's what I mean by "false pretenses". There's no two ways about it. A man -- any man -- who takes money under these circumstances is being deceitful and dishonest. In short, Ron Paul defrauded his contributors. Ron Paul is a crook. But we knew that already, didn't we? After all, Ron Paul is a career politician. - shotsy5, on 07/19/2008, -3/+1Quote:

I was expecting a whole lot more than platitudes from this highly respected gentleman. Nor do I see how the approaching calamity is a blessing in disguise. Something about this article is not right; that's
just my opinion. - CCoburn3, on 07/21/2008, -4/+1Dr. Paul's warning would have a lot more credibility if I didn't remember where he spent Super Tuesday. With states having dozens of delegates holding their primaries, Dr. Paul chose to campaign in West Virginia -- and he didn't even win there.
I voted for Dr. Paul. I still have a huge magnet on the back of my truck urging people to vote for Ron Paul. But let's face it. The man had no intention of actually trying to become President. He just wanted to make a few speeches. Frankly, I think he took our money under false pretenses. - shotsy5, on 07/19/2008, -9/+2If RP has some urgent advice to give, why doesn't he GIVE it. What is all this tap-dancing around
and ambiguous phraseology?? If we are indeed in crisis, as we undoubtedly are, what we need is some practical guidance--but this is just fluff..It's hard to believe RP even wrote it (?)
