- Albionshores, on 12/18/2007, -9/+111"This translates into a current burden of about $175,000 per American or approximately $455,000 per American household"
It also translates as selling your children into tax slavery. That or they'll just have to leave feeling they will have had their country sold from under them.
$32 trillion - and it is not gone, it has merely been moved away from the taxpayer and federal programs, made into fat contracts and put into the hands of an elite few from the private sector. - inactive, on 12/18/2007, -14/+95Who re-elected these Terrorists?!! Complete retards you Bush psychos are!!
Bush is a border-line retard corporate puppet. Never forget who supported this failure, don't let them distance themselves from him. Whining about Libs and Dems and Clinton and Kerry and gay sex, while offering nothing of substance - and most notably - no defense for the lying little sack of ***** from Texas they shackled us with!
America's enemy is the idiot who IGNORES that Bush lied to us about Iraq, IGNORES that Bush defends treason, IGNORES that Bush was asleep at the wheel on 9/11, IGNORES that Bush had already blundered our war effort in Iraq, IGNORES that Bush still tries to link Iraq and 911, IGNORES that Bush was going to run amok with our Constitution, IGNORES his continued policy that fuels extremist groups and floods intelligence agencies with "false positives" from illegal wiretapping operations—among other things and still voted to re-elect this miserable failure.
The enemy from within has perpetuated this death and devastation. Don't forget it.
It is because of a bush voter that the country is in the atrocious position it is in today. - fusuke31, on 12/18/2007, -4/+71And you're telling me he couldn't fit a health care program for poor kids in the 32 trillion? What an *****.
- Frostman3D, on 12/18/2007, -6/+51I hate Bush....
- Groovemaster, on 12/18/2007, -6/+48On the bright side, the corporations that run the military-industrial complex are doing a booming trade as a consequence of the Bush dynasty.
Tell me, Americans, how does it feel to be a money-making device for the corporate elite? - SeethisPass, on 12/18/2007, -9/+51Bush is too expensive. and he has never been proven to be worth ten cents. the White House should be isolated and ignored until and unless it has something positive to contribute.
- jquipp, on 12/18/2007, -7/+43Can those numbers be correct? Wow, you're mortgaging your future for the here and now. Canada's more social economic system doesn't seem so scary now.
- insllvn, on 12/18/2007, -2/+31The cost of Bush is more than just the money he has squandered making his corporate buddies rich, and it is more than just the lives lost in Iraq, it is the goodwill of the world, our national conscience, and possibly the future of America.
- tlgjames, on 12/18/2007, -7/+33Don't worry, Bush knows a Nigerian Prince that needs to get to America, he just has to send some good faith money first.
- lhbaker, on 12/18/2007, -6/+31Relax. Before he gets out of office, Bush will sell the federal government to Saudi Arabia for a small profit and everything will be fine.
- mtjohnson, on 12/18/2007, -2/+26Yea but Andrew Sullivan is a homosexual!! And, as we all know, the homosexual agenda is a far greater threat than 32 trillion in debt.
American public, look, something shiny! - Gabberwok, on 12/18/2007, -4/+25Is there any way we can kick Bush out of the country once he's out of office? Ideally to Iraq?
- Waiting2awake, on 12/18/2007, -5/+25And yet, still nothing. I know I know, there have been protests, and chants, and even websites....and all that would be good and proportional if it was happening in 2001 when people were first talking about Bush being a twit and a criminal - in 2008, after knowing all that you guys know - why there isn't a fire burning I don't know, but I do know, if something serious doesn't happen to these clowns - it is going to get much, much worse before it ever gets better.
Time to grow a set. - brentinkc, on 12/18/2007, -1/+20It's about time for 300 million counts of grand larceny to be issued
- JimSartor, on 12/18/2007, -2/+19My problem is that all of these numbers are just too big to conceive . . . I mean, my cap at understanding numbers pretty much stops at 1,000. I know what $1,000 looks like, have driven 1,000 miles and can even probably count to 1,000 at a single sitting as long as my ADHD doesn't kick in. I mean the second that I start thinking about 50 TRILLION, my mind begins to collapse. For instance, with 50 trillion dollars, I could stack them side by side and I would have a line of bills that would stretch (does some calculations) 4,833,491,161 miles (give or take a few here or there) and that is approximately the distance to . . . . it doesn't even matter really because it's so ***** far that it is meaningless to me. I guaratee that we couldn't build a space craft that could go that far in 8 years. So what I am saying is with numbers this big and this much money at hand, I could stack up dollar bills and fire some super bullet (which never stopped) and my super bullet wouldn't pass as many dollar bills as we spend. Not even close really. Damn. Big numbers FTL. Bush, your shipment of fail has been delivered.
- willscottsi, on 12/18/2007, -3/+19Sickening. As it turns out, our stock is going down -- look at the exchange rates.
- greenm1981, on 12/18/2007, -2/+17While I agree that Bush is a cancer, and needs to be treated as such, he is smarter than he'd have us think. Follow the money. In the eyes of a handful of elites that paid his way into office to do their bidding, he has a very high approval rating. He is making a few people EXTRAORDINARILY rich with our tax dollars.
- jaymzdean, on 12/18/2007, -2/+17Just part of the overall plan to bring the U.S.A. to it's knees. Nothing to see here. Move along, move along.
- Albionshores, on 12/18/2007, -6/+21He's actually been very vocal on thrifty spending. He's is far from advocating giving big corporations big federal contracts. He's all for getting the government out of people's lives; HMOs, defence contracts, etc. There are many things on which I disagree with Ron Paul despite me digging a lot of his stories - which is I know to many Diggers condemnation. The way I see it; he is a libertarian of sorts and so empowers individuality, meaning that although he might not be my type of libertarian at least he's not an authoritarian. That sand as long as the media, press and political parties continue to censor him I'll continue to Digg him. It's not a Digg for Ron Paul - it's a Digg for free speech.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX2rAjP7EUA&NR=1 - ZenFountain, on 12/18/2007, -1/+16It didn't matter to Bush how much he spent, in fact some believe the deficit spending was considered "good" by the Bush people and conservative think tanks, because it only makes it that much harder to keep Social Security and Medicare solvent (they want to cut them) and makes it very difficult for Democrats to roll out a national health care plan. I'm not arguing for or against our social programs and future medical programs, but the way in which these ivory tower conservatives have schemed to end them is so nefarious it makes me sick.
- Surfrock66, on 12/18/2007, -1/+16No biggie, we'll just borrow it. I hear citi has a great lending program right now, you pay almost nothing in interest for like 5 years!
- swizzcheez, on 12/18/2007, -0/+15Being owed a rebate technically means that you OVER-paid your taxes.
- MrNexus, on 12/18/2007, -2/+16Impeach yet?
- headt0thebunker, on 12/18/2007, -1/+14What war dumbass? You mean the one we are supposed to be fighting in Iraq.....the country that didn't have ***** to do with 911 and had no Al Queda....the one with no army, no navy, no air force....not freakin one damn tank ? ? ? You mean that war ? ? ? Are you really that stupid? The military is funded every fiscal year by the end of Sept......Troops....paid for, Tanks, paid for,....Aircraft...paid for......so where in the hell did 4 trillion dollars go? Yeah right... war isn't that expensive....stupidity and treason is very expensive
- williamdyer, on 12/18/2007, -3/+16And he enabled Israel to hijack us to fight their wars. Israel does not care if YOUR kids are sold into tax slavery.
- mtjohnson, on 12/18/2007, -0/+13I've heard of the 'B..bu...but Clinton!!!' defense, but never the 'B..bu...but...Future President!!!' defense. That's a new one.
- insllvn, on 12/18/2007, -4/+15It makes me a very sad panda. :(
- bjornski, on 12/18/2007, -2/+13But...but...but...CLINTON!
"You can't go to war! We're impeaching you for a blowjob! Wag the dog! Wag the dog!"
9/11? You mean like the perps that got prosecuted when it happened on Clintons watch, and the ones that didn't even get looked for when Bushie was handed a "Bin Laden intends to strike inside the US" memo?
Should we go back to who was ARMING these "terr'ists"?
Who sold Iraq weapons? Who gave them to Iran? What company was SELLING Iran nuclear tech? (hint: rhymes with: Palliburton)
It's nice that you can point to a few things on the time line, but if you actually trace back that data a bit further, you'll find not a lot of it actually lands in Clintons lap.
Most of it winds up back in the hands of the Republicans. - inactive, on 12/18/2007, -5/+16I love Bush, the pussy, not the president...
- anarchytv, on 12/18/2007, -0/+10When I was a kid at 14, I went to Europe and was welcomed everywhere with open arms as something totally cool... just because I was 'from America' and America bailed out Europe in that whole WW2 debatacle... and gave Germany back to the Germans instead of being perpetual occupiers. How super cool was that. People everywhere knew you were in town, said hello, invited you in. Just because you were 'from America' and America was super cool leader in democracy.
What the Neocons, and Republicans, and fat cat politicians sold out... was all of that. Its all gone. All that goodwill from WW2 from that magnanimous gesture... liquidated. They don't even say 'democracy' anymore, but argue semantics that its a 'republic'. - acrodev, on 12/18/2007, -1/+11Can I get a receipt for that?
- kingyubba, on 12/18/2007, -1/+1132 trillion? seems low. the damage he's caused will take a lot more than that to fix.
- TheShad0w, on 12/18/2007, -1/+11This isn't the worse part of it all. After our "beloved" president leaves office the tax payers will still be obligated to pay out a pension plan to him for the rest of his life of $183,500/year. Must be great to be our country's worst leader and still get paid for doing it. I say impeach the bastard take away all his privileges. Then let the public take him to court as they see fit.
- morningmatters, on 12/18/2007, -6/+16Yet another Log Cabin Repub turning against Bush, though it amazes me how they ended up bushies at the first place..
- bowens44, on 12/18/2007, -0/+9Even if this were true (it isn't) it would irrelevant.
- greenm1981, on 12/18/2007, -1/+10The GAO is notoriously non-partisan.....but then you never know what you can believe anymore.
- jaymzdean, on 12/18/2007, -3/+12You mean, imperialism isn't cheap.
- FutureGuy, on 12/18/2007, -0/+9It also translates to selling US to countries like China. Ever wondered why so many US companies are getting aquired by Chinese and Arab nations? Well just ask Bush.
- galore, on 12/18/2007, -2/+10wow and if you believe the MSM, this is all because of the power of gay marriage.
- Waiting2awake, on 12/18/2007, -2/+10Maybe, but I could have sworn he worked for you anyway..why wait? Why let him continue to kill innocent people, spy on you and charge your kids for the pleasure.
- headt0thebunker, on 12/18/2007, -0/+8There won't be anything left to spend.....
- williamdyer, on 12/18/2007, -1/+9The war is breaking us financially. We printed TRILLIONS of dollars to fund it, and the dollar lost 30% of it's value so far, and has farther to fall.
- anarchytv, on 12/18/2007, -0/+8For those who can't comprehend $50 trillion, comprehend this instead: every American, including you, would get $200,000 in cash handed to them... even your kid brother, your grandpa, every neighbor down the street, everyone you knew, everyone even in prison. Would this cause devaluation of the dollar - well, yes, but it would be exactly the same as it is today, because the exact amount of money has been spent... one US dollar roughly equal to one Candadian dollar. Only now its in the hands of consumers, and savers, to stimulate the economy with purchase and investments.
What would each and every one of you do with $200,000 cash given to you today? What could you buy? A brand new computer rig, a laptop, a vacation to a tropical island, a brand new car, even a brand new first or second house, and with money left over to boot. Or you could of put it into stocks, and watch it double in ten years, and in twenty years, doing nothing at all, been a millionaire.
You could of had it, if only you hadn't elected an ex movie star, then his spook CIA vice president, and then of all things, the CIA vice presidents son of all people (at that point, I said, you know what, the American people aren't insane, they are 100% retarded). And you know what, the next President is going to be just as bad. Because he's just a figurehead... a hood ornament. You would need a revolution to sweep out all the fat cat crap career politicians in the whitehouse as start from stratch, electing janitors, cleaning ladys, conveinence store owners, mechanics, journeymen, small business owners, college students... basically, common people with common sense who have lived a tough life scratching out a living. Why do you people keep electing these career politicians. Its so simple. Don't vote for anyone who's not running, who's been in office before. - exomni, on 12/18/2007, -2/+10Amen to that.
- headt0thebunker, on 12/18/2007, -2/+9If for no other reason Bush needs to be impeached for being a damn common thief...and not a very smart one at that....
- marksweb, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8then there is the cost to the rest of us.
damn that man! - inactive, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8I always use that # when argueing about the Bush administration, and no one ever believes me. Cant wait till they all realize
- bjornski, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8"Limited government" and "Fiscal responsibility"
More government than ever, all bills just thrown on the Chinese credit cards, and cutting their own "monthly minimum payments" because the kids will pick it up.
NEVER ask a Republican to balance your books. You'll wind up with "more money" each month, but everything will be put on credit.
And let's not get started on the party of "family values", on top of it all. - mtjohnson, on 12/18/2007, -0/+7I do blame congress. Republicans had control for the first 6 years, and Bush made only 1 veto.
