- johnny2k, on 05/12/2008, -0/+27This goes out to all those serving our country, whether in Afghanistan, Iraq, or anywhere else in this messed up world:
Actions speak much louder than words! I salute Twana for getting this started, and onthewRiteside for keeping this going. Everybody must shout this out! God bless all those over there serving our country, and doing the best job they can (or that they are allowed to)!- twanablevins, on 05/13/2008, -0/+0Thank you johnny2k. I will share your words with my nephew. He will be encouraged and know he's appreciated and prayed for daily.
(or that they are allowed to) I hear you!!! And amen to that.

- AlwaysAwake, on 05/12/2008, -0/+23Welcome words of caring can help ALL those serving in the military. But it is cheap satisfaction compared to volunteering at your local Veterans Administration Medical Center, where they are being swamped now by the mostly ignored physically and mentally wounded soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan arriving there daily. These are in addition to what is already there, also largely being ignored, from Vietnam and Korea. They've already payed a very heavy price for serving you, and could use more than a little love and support right NOW !!!
- twanablevins, on 05/13/2008, -0/+0AlwaysAwake I hear your words and you'll be glad to know I do volunteer at several VAMC. You are correct they are swamped but not ignored - not in my area anyway. There are many folks who do volunteer at these medical centers and also other areas where our veterans need us. Instead of chiding people, you might would like to encourage folks - that seems to work much better at getting volunteers. Also know some people do not volunteer because they think themselves to be inadequate for the tasks at hand. Kind words encourage them to learn they can be of service helping our veterans.
- Christianptriot, on 05/12/2008, -0/+20I was a sailor from 1978 to 1990 and served with many fine Marines that I proudly call Shipmate. Several of my close friends died in the October 1983 barracks bombing in Beirut.
The US military will always have my support - Semper Fi!- twanablevins, on 05/13/2008, -0/+0Thank you Christian Patriot. God Bless You and your family.
