Much of US Aid is actually supplying US manufactured goods and foods - which helps boost US jobs and economy. Also, some of the reasons for offering aid to a country is to boost its economy so that it is in a position to then buy US goods.
Taking an example of the Marshall Plan, while it was largely to assist the war-ruined Europe, a large part of the reasoning behind it was to enable the European economies to grow and buy goods from the USA - which itself needed a considerable economic boost to deal with the huge demobalisation of its own armed forces.
