- Landthatilove, on 11/10/2009, -12/+35What a racist article.
- BREZZZ, on 11/10/2009, -5/+22I'm certain no Democrat disliked Obama because he was black.
- zacharytelschow, on 11/10/2009, -5/+20I don't think Steele is "on my side," but it has nothing to do with the color of his skin and everything to do with his moderate politics.
- Landthatilove, on 11/10/2009, -6/+20You submitted the original response. Right back to that "stupid" thing.
- Landthatilove, on 11/10/2009, -9/+21Stupid people come in all colors. For you to assume that it's about race says a lot more about you than it does about me. On the other hand, the title of this article "White Republicans" is right up your alley.
- philomatic, on 11/11/2009, -0/+11Right but I'm sure there are democrats who liked Obama JUST because he is black, which is equally wrong.
There are lots of blacks too who I'm sure see white presidents as "The Man" (ie can't be trust, out to get them, must be brought down, etc.)
In short, we still have a long way to go on both sides... - novenator, on 11/10/2009, -8/+18I don't think they are so much 'afraid' of him, as much as they don't have the slightest amount of respect for him. He is their token Uncle Tom to try to put blackface on their party. Of course, every minority will continue to not vote for them as long as their central message continues to be the way it is.
- Landthatilove, on 11/11/2009, -4/+13I believe you.
- inactive, on 11/11/2009, -2/+10Land, who's being the racist here? Sounds like Michael Steele is playing da race card, mah man. He doesn't want to seem like an Uncle Tom to the brothas so he's saying this, and going around making public appearances in a bow tie (nod to Nation of Islam).
- mbraynard, on 11/11/2009, -1/+8Steele has said a series of stupid things since getting elected chairman. Off the top of my head:
- References to 'hip hop'
- Calling out Rush Limbaugh
- Calling most Republican voters bigots for voting against Romney
- Now calling Republicans racist because they are scared of him (whatever. He's like an overgrown Urkle.)
I'd say he should focus on party building, but I gather that's not really his responsibility since it's been taken from him by the RNC, so he has nothing better to do but make stupid comments like this. - noyurawk, on 11/11/2009, -4/+10You probably meant the other left. Republicans are shifting farther to the right.
- ClosedCaption, on 11/11/2009, -10/+15I wonder does Michael Steele realize that he only has the job because the GOP was looking for a black person because the Dems had one? Same thing with Sarah Pailin...lol.
Sorry I just asked if Sarah Pailin figured something out har har har! - pr0lixity, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4Steele is a goober.
- CaptainNoPants, on 11/10/2009, -6/+10Spamming will get you nowhere
- jmorganthall, on 11/11/2009, -5/+9Oh my sweet God, why do you conservatives always come out en masse at night? It's amazing, really.
- Ravage172, on 11/11/2009, -3/+7LMAO....
I was immediately thinking the exact same thing. I've noted several times now that Conservatives seem to be posting on here in the early morning or late evening, while these Libbys seem to be posting during the day. - Paranor01, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4really? Steele gets put as the GOP leader after Obama gets elected. sorry, this theory just stinks of terrible truth
- zoomaKabu, on 11/11/2009, -1/+5Steele is an idiot.
- LiquidIse, on 11/10/2009, -7/+11This is the cancer that is ailing the republican party right now.
As the party continues to shift farther left to satisfy the fringe it now refers to as its "base", it is marginalizing great republicans who are more moderate and thus willing to work with centrist democrats.
At some point the GOP might realize that by forcing out moderates all you are doing is shrinking your party. - leighsah, on 11/11/2009, -5/+8Because we are working during the day.
- Apokalyps2547, on 11/10/2009, -7/+10* The Republican Party is currently SMALLER then the Democratic one.
* The far-right already votes Republican very very reliably.
And yet the plan is to REMOVE moderates.....
...how do you plan on GROWING the party? - Ravage172, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3That wasn't a racist comment. Nah!
- Apokalyps2547, on 11/10/2009, -7/+9This past election, Congressional seats:
Democrats: 1
Republicans: 0
And yes, it was a direct result of the far-right alienating moderates.
I'd love to see you spin NY-23 as a Republican victory. - Laminarcissus, on 11/11/2009, -2/+4Honestly, I don't use this term lightly in the slightest -- but he is that absolute living personification of an Uncle Tom.
- xman8, on 11/10/2009, -9/+11How can anyone be so stupid as to think this article is anything but propaganda.
- PhilliesBlunt, on 11/11/2009, -3/+5I tend to see a lot of conservatives posting during the day. Over... and over and over and over again!
- detcade, on 11/11/2009, -8/+10You say that as if they have about the same amount of racists.
- AngryDeuce, on 11/10/2009, -12/+14How can someone identify with a party that is capable of being "terrified" of him based on the color of his skin?
I just don't see how one can reconcile such opposing viewpoints and actually be a part of a political party where so many are closet racists and still actually believe in things such as the "White Man's Burden"... - Ravage172, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3Just curious, Paranor01
Is that your standard response to anyone who doesn't agree with you?
Or do you just think it makes you look spiffy smart when you post it? - govtdoesnotwork, on 11/11/2009, -2/+4I don't see moderates being purged like the libertarians in my evidence, but I would agree that the Northeastern patrician country club big government Republicans have been made to feel somewhat unwelcome. OTOH, one of 'em literally got the ***** nomination, so I'm not sure how unwelcome that is, especially compared to those of us who've been attacked MUCH more vehemently (again, see Republican site evidence, don't trust my words -- trust theirs!).
- PhilliesBlunt, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2I disagree with #2, it was the smartest thing he could have done, followed by the dumbest when he backtracked.
- PhilliesBlunt, on 11/11/2009, -2/+4free republic huh?
- LiquidIse, on 11/11/2009, -3/+5I just realized my initial comment said left. My mistake.
Gov, let me clarify something for you. When you discuss the political spectrum in terms of dems and repubs you have to compress the spectrum to 1 dimension.
Left = social small gov and fiscal large gov
Right = social large gov and fiscal small gov
So yes. the republicans are moving father to the right with their efforts to both tear away government regulating programs (which despite what paultards exclaim, are NOT all evil). Also the republicans continue to try and make law standard religious ideals. That is moving right. And fast.
That isn't the entirety of my statement though. The largest issue is them kicking out RINO's, or as they are referred to by the politically sane: moderates. - Kyan, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3Apokalypse2547 - I'll give the spin a shot...
THIS GREAT NEWS - FOR JOHN MCCAIN!
How'd I do? - mbraynard, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1How can you qualify picking a fight with someone whom most of the party donors and volunteers LOVE a smart think?
Explain. - Valkyrie927, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I agree with a lot of your points here, mbraynard. I am not terribly happy with Steele's lack of diplomacy. And using "racist" against people who simply disagree with him is especially disappointing to me, since it's nothing but a tactic out of the Dem playbook!
- Paranor01, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2well if the GOP is generally racist, and their base - the !right - is generally racist, then yeah... the race card is valid when it is, and it's been quite valid lately...
shot dead stimulus chimp anyone? - IKORKYI, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2"To test the effects of race, participants in the study were asked to read a news article about Katrina victims. Some read a story featuring a white person. Some read identical stories -- except the victim was black, Asian or Hispanic. Then they were asked how much assistance they think the government should give to help hurricane victims. Approximately 2,300 people participated in the study. "
This study was....im trying to think of a word for it....COCKAMAMIE <--in spell check dictionary - xman8, on 11/11/2009, -2/+2That would be correct! If you don't believe that, then you are foolish.
- wilhoitm, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1Boo!
- Ravage172, on 11/11/2009, -4/+4True That.
As long as they continue to believe that the Democrat Party is here to "Stick it to the Man" on their behalf, and "The Man" is a Republican, the status quo will be maintained.
Besides, if the Dems ever run short of Minorities in their base, they'll just figure out a way to magically change another 20 million illegals into "Legal Citizens". What better way to keep those votes rolling in? - govtdoesnotwork, on 11/11/2009, -4/+3Here's proof from a REPUBLICAN site, for all the mindless bury brigade, that I'm once-again right, as usual.
http://www.thenextright.com/dave-nalle/republican- ...
The purge is NOT of "moderates," they're going after libertarians. Exactly like I said. Like it or not. But I will still autobury the "Paultards" morons on sight, for the good of Digg. Make arguments, or get buried, 'tard. - Paranor01, on 11/11/2009, -3/+2obvious trolling post
- govtdoesnotwork, on 11/11/2009, -5/+4On what?? They may be "right" on social issues and foreign intervention when a Republican's doing it, but they've hardly demonstrated the fiscal attributes of anything even resembling a conservative. A borrow & spend warfare state is no more sustainable than a tax & spend welfare state. And, whether or not the media reports it honestly, those aren't our only 2 choices. But please be specific. How is the Republican party now further "right"?
- Apokalyps2547, on 11/11/2009, -2/+1The fact that they're purging Libertarians doesn't contradict the fact that they're also purging moderates.
I suppose you're going to argue that Newt Gingrich is a Libertarian? They're calling him a RINO.
John McCain had to move wayyyy to the right in 2007 to appease the "base" because they were calling him a RINO too! As a result, moderates felt alienated by the GOP and the rest is history.
The modern GOP espouses the EXTREMIST positions of promoting torture, banning habeas corpus, banning evolution education, opposing hate crime legislation, and defending the rights of corporations to cover up rape. - govtdoesnotwork, on 11/11/2009, -4/+3Buried for "Paultards" idiocy.
- Paranor01, on 11/11/2009, -3/+2or because you're out-sourced to china or somewhere else where the daytime hours are 8+ hrs off the US
- Maddoktor2, on 11/10/2009, -5/+4The problem with that is that you're so far right now you're going in circles.
- govtdoesnotwork, on 11/11/2009, -5/+3Crickets chirping...
- ThatsNotPudding, on 11/11/2009, -4/+1I assume this is why most of the time Steele stays in his jockey uniform and stands very still in Rush Limbaugh's front yard.
