- MercyPolitics, on 11/12/2008, -28/+820Sarah Palin will end up as a comical foot note in America's political history.
- Nephersir7, on 11/12/2008, -8/+328Actually, she could become president of Alaska
- thoughtlover, on 11/12/2008, -4/+223You bet'cha
- woodsjransom, on 11/12/2008, -22/+177He pretty much laid it out. I walked away from the election feeling that Palin will never be President. Rove has pretty much alluded to the same conclusion all this week. Once I got over my own personal hysteria of that great BARACKO win (woohoo) I then thought about any Republican becoming the President in the near future. I agree with Schaeffer, it ain't gonna happen. I suspect that we will be seeing a splinter group emerge from this election. The poor, uneducated, trying to become connected Republican party and the rich, educated and already connected Republican party. I have always thought that Republicans had no use for poor people other than their vote irregardless to what their skin color was. The poor ones who wanted to be identified as a Republican never got that memo even though they were always dismissed after the election. I think now the poor ones will be just outright told that as the rich and powerbroker Republicans try to reconfigure. That term Wasilla Hillbilly was not generated within the confines of just two McCain campaign workers. That sentiment was shared by quite a few Republicans.
- spinergy, on 11/12/2008, -10/+161You gotta admit that it would be entertaining if she tried. Jon Stewart could sure use the material.
- kezia1, on 11/12/2008, -15/+138As a Canadian, I fear for the world if Palin was elected president. Please don't let it happen.
- Dustin00, on 11/12/2008, -8/+116She keeps saying if it is God's will, it will happen.
Well, she tried. God said no. So obey Him, ya ignorant hillbilly! - thanakar, on 11/12/2008, -2/+81I see the 2012 anti-campaign has begun.
- devans00, on 11/12/2008, -3/+78Don't forget the single issue voters. The ones who vote republican because the republicans claim to be anti choice, pro life or whatever they are calling their stand on abortion. For some reason, after all these years, the anti abortion voters don't seem to have noticed that all their votes for the "right" candidate still hasn't produced the results they wanted. So basically, they've been making a deal with the devil all these years for not much gain.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -8/+81Every time she talks on tv I my hands over my ears and go "lalalalalalalalalalalala"
- deaftly, on 11/12/2008, -6/+71This gives us more hope for the porno!
- AltF3, on 11/12/2008, -1/+62Or the president of Africa, because we all know its a country.
- noghead, on 11/12/2008, -10/+66Sarah who?
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+53Right now, I'm just anxious to see what direction the Republican party goes in at this point. Really, I'm hoping that this election has opened a window to bring back traditional conservatism into the party. I think the radical religious group is heading out the door with Palin, and it's pretty clear that a large part of what sank McCain's campaign was adopting Neocon tactics. But eh, we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?
- Wargala, on 11/12/2008, -2/+54Ok, but you owe us an apology for Bryan Adams and Celine Dion.
- darylw00ds, on 11/12/2008, -1/+53Yep right above Dan Quayle... Potato potatoe,
- LemonHerb, on 11/12/2008, -1/+51Because the first black president would end up as a footnote?
- Alli3388, on 11/12/2008, -1/+50Err... Obama will be President. Presidents, especially war-time and depression era ones, don't become foot notes. Durrrr.
- chester27, on 11/12/2008, -2/+47The downfall of the Republican Party continues to inspire me to enter into politics. The GOP needs to return to it's core principles - limited government and spending, and upholding our constitution to its fullest.
A new generation of Republicans are necessary to restore the GOPs previous image. - Dustin00, on 11/12/2008, -0/+39A *well dressed* foot note!
- oldhick, on 11/12/2008, -7/+44You don't need to tell us. You can just bury it and move on.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+36What a silly bitch.
I'm no fan of Hillary Clinton of Nancy Pelosi, but I'd take either one of them in a heartbeat over Palin for America's first female president. At least they won't install a paintball course on the white house lawn for little Trig, Track, Pickup, Six-Pack, and Methpipe to run around on. - woodsjransom, on 11/12/2008, -1/+33You are absolutely correct. I keep forgetting about them. I think that everybody takes EVERYTHING into consideration when they decide who they are going to vote for like I do. Thanks for the reminder.
- scottknick, on 11/12/2008, -17/+48FTA: Sarah Palin will never be president because the right wing of the Republican Party has perfected the art of believing their own *****, starting with the idea that is-Africa-a-country-or-a-continent?-Palin has a future. Palin and her fans don't know it yet, but having reduced itself to a grim angry joke, the Republican Party has also divorced itself from American politics and, along with that dirty used Band-Aid, is destined for the garbage can.
Exactly right. The GOP tried to harness the racist/religious right as its political lapdog, but the dog has turned and savaged its owner.
My only question -- how come so many low-education white Appalachians have Digg accounts? - jsmith39, on 11/12/2008, -0/+30but do you go "lalalalalalalalalalalala"?
- Rotzooi, on 11/12/2008, -0/+30True, and not just the single issue voters; it's pretty much the old-school reasons to vote GOP, across the entire board. GOP used to be economically conservative: not anymore. GOP used to be about small government: not anymore. GOP used to be about personal freedoms: not anymore.
There are still millions of partisan hacks and uninformed people who'll vote Republican, regardless - but the wedge has been set and Palin was the first to hammer it. The party is cracking, and hopefully that will lead to bigger and better things for all of us. - asgardshill, on 11/12/2008, -0/+29Hey buddy, the Canadian government has already apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions!
- EricSchC1, on 11/12/2008, -1/+30"If you're still ignorant at 44, then I'm sorry. You're just dumb."
-Bill Maher - DrVic, on 11/12/2008, -2/+31I put my hands on another part of my body.
- breckinshire, on 11/12/2008, -2/+30I believe you're confusing reality with Star Wars. Don't worry, I went through this for a while when I was six. It will pass when you find out lightsabres are *****.
- kweee, on 11/12/2008, -16/+43As far as I'm concerned, the Republican party can keep fielding Sarah Palin as its candidate for as long as it wants to stay out of power. When it's ready to lead the nation again, they'll start listening to what Ron Paul has to say.
- Zwierdo, on 11/12/2008, -1/+28I came here to say that.
People like my father will ALWAYS vote for the candidate that professes to be pro-life, because that's what his pastor tells him to. It wouldn't matter what else the presidential candidate had done (See GWB in 2004), as long as he/she promised to get rid of the baby killers on the supreme court, they would get a large percentage of the vote in this country as it is now.
That's the only reason the republican party has stayed around in the form it has the last several elections, and that's why Mrs. Palin was on the ticket. - Echota, on 01/05/2009, -7/+33You better not be lying to me Frank!
- 1longtime, on 11/12/2008, -1/+26"Maybe it will take a black Democratic president to figure out some affirmative action program that can get our southern born-again white underclass into colleges and thereby save the Republican party."
Oh, that is so Dugg. - sychodelix, on 11/12/2008, -11/+35You do realize that throwing insults at white Appalachians is no better than being a racist?
- ExRe, on 11/12/2008, -1/+25Half of me hopes the republican party goes back to it's roots, but the other half of me wants to see the party destroyed by letting Palin lead the republican party.
- asgardshill, on 11/12/2008, -0/+24Well, at least until the RNC's lawyers finish taking her clothes away from her, that is.
- Sirbeef, on 11/12/2008, -0/+23The fracture in the Republican party will not be between rich and poor. It will be between true fiscal conservative/socially liberal Republicans and the religious fundamentals that have hijacked the party. If Goldwater conservatives can not get their party back they will join up with the Libertarians.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+24Don't worry - she might have a go at it, but the bigwigs in the Republican party have likely already severed all ties with her.
- flyingclutchman, on 11/12/2008, -1/+23Being governor in a state with like 1/4 of the people of Chicago does not give you experience to be president. That's also not why I have a problem with her. Her blatant stupidity and lacking basic knowledge of how government, economics, and social issues work is the reason I would never vote for her.

- 825143, on 11/12/2008, -5/+27Please..stop the bashing..it's like obsessive fanaticism, it's over...
for the one who don't know, the vote has ended
and the better man has won, congratulation for President elect Obama.
but to continue this, it's becoming ridiculous to the point of nausea.
A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject.

happy digging - inactive, on 11/12/2008, -2/+23Oh, you went for it.
- tallguyg, on 11/12/2008, -5/+26I wish I could believe him, I really do, but 47% of us still voted for the McCain/Palin ticket. We still have a long way to go, unfortunately.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -4/+24Don't feed the troll, people. Just keep still until he gets bored and goes back to jacking off to furry porn.
