- junkfoodjoe, on 07/14/2009, -11/+68Why do we care? She's not working for us anymore.
- durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -14/+59
She's not your governor anymore, remember? She quit. - TreatsTheBear, on 07/14/2009, -6/+48/s
just in case... - TreatsTheBear, on 07/14/2009, -7/+47Real Americans.
- mlrigsby, on 07/14/2009, -8/+47But I thought Sarah Palin was an "energy expert"!!
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -4/+40She understands how babby is formed.
- mtjohnson, on 07/14/2009, -3/+38Unfortunately she wasn't able to teach that to her daughter.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/14/2009, -18/+49Let's do ourselves a favor and make lists of things that Sarah Palin DOES understand. That way, the list will be a hell of a lot shorter, and we won't have to waste as much time trying to understand the erratic actions of this imbecile.
- lordmike, on 07/14/2009, -14/+43Sarah Palin DOES understand ghostwriting, though! There is no way she wrote that... The article has complete sentences and isn't garbled word salad like everything else that comes out of her brain and mouth. If she actually sent in something of her own, then some editor at the Post must have spent a very late night reworking her original garbled, stream of consciousness text. More likely, someone "helped" her write the "piece". The article doesn't even remotely sound like something she would say! Nice try, Sarah... next time, at least have your writer TRY to make it sound like you, OK?
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -32/+59She's not the only one. I doubt 80% of Americans know what this is about or realize how much this scheme will really cost them if its ever implemented.
- fanfablebig, on 07/14/2009, -30/+55Bitch probably doesn't understand the alphabet.
- MWeather, on 07/14/2009, -3/+26Her daughter understands insert anything.
- oo7evan, on 07/14/2009, -10/+30I don't know, she did use an exclamation point, and that usually means you know what you are talking about.
- EarlOfLade, on 07/14/2009, -10/+30But she can see the alphabet from her house...
- Zong, on 07/14/2009, -9/+29She quit you.....
- biznite, on 07/14/2009, -20/+38Everyone hates Sarah Palin, but just because she's dumb in general doesn't mean that her points against a Cap and Trade system being implemented aren't valid. There is no logical counter-arguments that the author makes, he simply is counting on the Palin bashers to make the argument for him, unfortunately, she has a point.
A Cap and Trade would be the largest regressive tax in American history, and could prove a crippling blow to our struggling manufacturing industry. Steel mills, auto manufacturers, farmers, etc would now be forced to hold permits for the CO2 emissions produced by their trades, drastically increasing the cost of goods across a broad spectrum of the economy, and reducing the output of these industries. Yes, some of the money generated from a Cap and Trade in the auctioning of permits would be redistributed, but it would go towards social engineering, and would not benefit the industries hit by the higher cost of energy. It would kill jobs in the hopes of green jobs in the future....
And yes it would make energy more scarce as it would become cost prohibitive to run most coal power plants in the United States as clean coal technology is impractical, and carbon sequestration wholly inadequate at the current time.
Cap and Trade is a quick fix to a long term issue that hasn't been adequately debated and should be - it's very complicated, and pushing it through the Senate won't help anyone. - FredFredrickson, on 07/14/2009, -18/+35I guess since our resident Republican shill rbiii says it, then it must be true.
- razorc03, on 07/14/2009, -5/+21I'll be honest: I have NO idea what Cap and Trade is either.
- JDanner3, on 07/14/2009, -3/+17Cap and trade is not a good idea in any industry especially with energy. Our entire economy will slow down much worse if this cap and trade silliness passes. If the cost of gas goes up, the cost of everything goes up. Why is this so complicated. Everything at one point was on a diesel truck, every single thing you can think of. Every item that built the building you are in, the computer, the chair you are sitting on, the desk, the pens, the phone, everything. Possibly even the dirt under the ground was hauled around by a truck. If we raise the price of energy which of course includes gasoline the price of everything goes up.
Why should I be pumped if the price of everything goes up, especially if the price of doing business costs more? - HEAVYisSPY, on 07/14/2009, -1/+15except that news made the front page of digg as well. Both are worthy of concern.
- hasslinthehoff, on 07/14/2009, -10/+23All you need now is Tina Fey to read it and you have comedy gold!
- SouthsideIrish, on 07/14/2009, -2/+15OK. I am all for going after Sarah Palin, but for this? It is, what, a 1700 page bill a few hundred of which came out right before the vote. Nobody in the House understands it, and when John Boehner pointed out the changes most people looked at him with a dumb look in their eyes. I would say that no one in the House understands it, and they were just voting for or against the name.
- Rad1030, on 07/14/2009, -9/+22I think supporting Sarah Palin is some kind of medical condition.
- MWeather, on 07/14/2009, -3/+15She gave you up, she let you down, she ran around and deserted you.
- ironhide, on 07/14/2009, -2/+14Treats, that was a good assumption. Sarcasm doesn't translate well on Digg.
- ironhide, on 07/14/2009, -11/+23There it is - the conservative version of the First Amendment. "I have the freedom to say what I want, without criticism"
- kwazyhulk, on 07/14/2009, -0/+11Andrew Sullivan isn't a liberal. He was very much in the conservative camp until the past election. And he still considers himself a libertarian conservative. He recently wrote regarding the Iraq war, "I supported it like a teenage girl supporting the Jonas Brothers.” Unlike many journalists he's intellectually honest enough to admit when he is wrong. His blog is a good read, try it before dismissing him.
Unfortunately anyone that criticizes the Republican party or conservatism, even when attempting constructive dialogue, gets tossed out. The Republican tent keeps getting smaller and smaller... - hotshotveggie, on 07/14/2009, -16/+27http://www.edf.org/page.cfm?tagID=1085
The idea is to combine the effectiveness of the free market with the urgent importance of capping carbon emissions. If you want less pollution from businesses all over the country, it's pretty damn hard to just tell them all "pollute 20% less in 10 years... or else!"
With cap and trade, it brings in the possibilities of some businesses polluting less and getting paid for it, while others continue polluting and must buy a sort of "pollution stock" from the others. Sure it's got its downsides, but I think it's an interesting proposal that more people should be aware of. - inactive, on 07/14/2009, -3/+14Umm, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say Obama's an expert on constitutional law seeing that he graduated from Harvard Law and taught the subject. Palin went to five different colleges to eek out a journalism degree. I have a journalism degree, it's not that ***** hard to get.
- ParticleMan420, on 07/14/2009, -9/+20how is it going to make al gore or his buddies any money?
- twiztidsinz, on 07/14/2009, -2/+12Not only does she know how babby is formed, but she knows how babby is formed with extra chromosomes.
- slunktoday, on 07/14/2009, -4/+14A more appropriate headline would have been "Sarah Palin does not agree with a writer's point of view."
I read the article, and as much as I hate to admit it, I agree with her.
I upvoted you, but you probably won't have much luck...people are idiots when it comes to the cap and trade proposals. - cntlscrut, on 07/14/2009, -22/+31Really?! Wow, the idea of Palin not understanding something is not news.... it's common knowledge.
- rhuxley, on 07/14/2009, -8/+17and she still won't shut-up
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -4/+13You're absolutely right. All of these people go on and on about Obama's use of a TelePrompter without understanding that he uses it only as a tool for efficiency and is a very eloquent speaker on many subjects.
Sarah Palin usually stitches together cliches from songs that were popular when she was in high school, peppered with some catch phrases from the church dinner crowd. This op-ed piece was clearly written by someone intelligent. - fury420, on 07/14/2009, -6/+15well... your partly right, but only because the companies invested in by "Al Gore and his buddies" will be producing less emissions than many of their competitors, and thus will be in a more profitable position.
It will certainly be bad for some specific aspects of the economy, but will be a boon for anyone working on efficiency & emissions control. If all your money is tied up in vintage coal powerplants, or inefficient & polluting factories then yes, you certainly will get the ***** end of the deal as those industries pay for those emissions, but in time they will either curb their pollution, or be replaced by greener & more efficient operations. - twiztidsinz, on 07/14/2009, -1/+10Sarah Palin does not understand that.
- sodoh, on 07/14/2009, -8/+17The alphabet was something created by those east coast elitists in Washington. Mavericks don't use the alphabet!
- enantiodromia, on 07/14/2009, -8/+16John McCain: "Sarah Palin knows more about Energy than any one else in America"
- intthis, on 07/14/2009, -9/+16perhaps it would be easier to make a list of things sarah palin DOES understand...
- Chordonblue, on 07/14/2009, -2/+9Considering this effects energy - which is pretty much everything - there can only be one reason why this administration has not been forthcoming with the American people about it. They wish to hide it.
This will hardly be an economy helper. Without excusing ANYONE'S ignorance, the simple fact is, people aren't being told the truth or otherwise about what 'cap and tax' is going to do, who it's going to hurt, or even why it's 'necessary'. - Rotzooi, on 07/14/2009, -13/+20wow, you're ever dumber than she is, akchrs.
- charm803, on 07/15/2009, -2/+8You mean it's for people who understand something, at this point, ANYTHING?
Then call me a liberal. - fury420, on 07/14/2009, -0/+6you are expecting Sarah Palin to.... teach?
now i've heard everything lol - Dipsomaniac, on 07/14/2009, -7/+13Do you *really* think it's good that her lack of intellectual capacity has been emphasized every day?
- 5urr3al5am, on 07/14/2009, -7/+13know what's funny.. anytime obama's failing approval ratings come up we then hear about Bush, Cheney, and Palin from the liberals.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -2/+8I have no problem with that; however, I would if you were running for Vice President or President.
- liquisoft, on 07/14/2009, -8/+14Sarah Palin is this nation's most shining example.
She exemplifies the idea that anybody can do anything. Next time you think to yourself, "No, there's no way I can accomplish [insert thing here]," just think about how Palin managed to become governor of a GIGANTIC state and also came close to getting a Vice Presidency, all while being a gigantic bigot and moron. If she can do those things, you can do anything! -
