- reallydigginit, on 10/12/2007, -9/+56Did anyone see that idiot Tony Snow claim it is "preposterous" to assume the verdict was politically timed? Yeah, these are the same guys who— oh never mind. A list of their B.S. would take up too much space.
Anyone out there who doesn't think the verdict was politically timed please contact me at once! I have a bridge in Baghdad to sell you. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+43Who cares if it was politically motivated? The real story should be that there are actually people out there who will change their vote because Saddam was sentenced.
Tell me again why we let stupid people vote? - yakimushi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33I'm sorry to bring you bad news, reallydigginit, but your bridge was just blown up by an IED.
Mission accomplished!!! - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22Of course they do AJriddle, we're the ones who put them in power.
- dgh1973, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18I thought we were supposed to have Bin Laden's neck in a noose? This is a damn poor substitute.
Fool me once, shame on... shame on..... oh never mind. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Convenient.
Gas prices are looking mighty good too. - zhulien, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18I really hope all you voting citizens of the USA vote that Bush party out of Government so that the World can become a better place and the USA can reclaim some of it's former credibility over time. Bush is a disgrace to the USA as Howard is to Australia. Come on you all, vote his party out!
- Olle, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20@Monolith,
Because otherwise it would be only you and me and quite frankly I'm not sure about you.
j/k ;) - Rodzirra, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Remove: "He didn't say preposterous. I think he said anybody who thought it was politically timed was "smoking rope." Whatever that means."
I think it goes something like this: Rope can be made from hemp, which is another name for cannabis (pot). So Tony Snowjob is probably intimating that anyone who thinks this circus sideshow is politically timed is high. - theotherme, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Can anyone can enlighten me on how this influences the upcoming election? I just don't see how this will rally republicans to vote.
- remove, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10He didn't say preposterous. I think he said anybody who thought it was politically timed was "smoking rope." Whatever that means.
- dgh1973, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Yeah, watch 'em go back up after election day... just watch.
- nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8
Here is a clue...the vedict reading was delayed........wait for it........
BECAUSE OF SADDAMS TEMPER TANTRUMS....and his laywers ASKED for a delay from October.
of course....we all know what that means...Saddam is OBVIOUSLY working for Bush.
/You retards here make just as much sense....hell at least my conspiracy theory is based a little on facts.. - surian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@mrASSMAN
"23. How many branches are there in our government?"
"24. What are the three branches of our government?"
... are you kidding me?
I agree that people are stupid and all, but that's just a wee-bit too easy ;-) - monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12So True ... Reality has a well-known liberal bias.
- Bakkhai42, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9When you have nothing, you try everything...
- appetite, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14I can't fathom that you actually believe the timing of the verdict is just a coincidence. It's just not possible that anybody could be so naive. Is it?
Please tell me it isn't. - bionicvskungfu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I love how smug the GOP and there cronies are when they try to tell everyone this is just a coincidence. Reminds me of back when the terror alert would go up whenever there was bad press.
- nanos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I see where you're coming from. But you can also look at it this way: If the current administration was able to influence the timing of the verdict, and if the verdict helps them secure their position, then wouldn't they be stupid *not* to use this to their favor?
- Legolover64, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I'm shocked that this hasn't been flagged as "possibly inaccurate".
That wouldn't happen, though, with the way Digg's users think.
Digg has an insane political bias, and I don't know if I'm comfortable staying around with such a group of people. Can't all views be shared and be liked/disliked equally?
The majority of the "buried" comments are from people that are trying to say something that goes against what the majority of Digg's users are, and from this simple comment page, I can conclude that there are far more left wing people than right.
Equality on the internet is a hard thing to ask for, but holy crap, isn't someone looking at this with an open mind and thinking "hell no."
Besides me? - form3hide, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7man, it feels really good to finally fill up my tank for exactly 20 bucks.
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, coincidentally, gas prices are on the rise again. Time to invest! (Just in time for elections.)
- Olle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@Carapi,
"Look, ultra lefties...I am sorry that your hero was found guilty. Get over it."
*sigh*
So, you are insulting people who disagree with you. This will only make those who oppose you cement their opinions, and it will insult people who still are undecided and possibly cause them to automatically take the opposite position.
This leaves two options:
1) Either you are a deceitful but smart non-conservative
2) Or you are a conservative who is unable to control your temper enough to further your cause instead of hurting it.
Either way you aren't the type of person I'd like to go get a few beers with. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11Here's the immigration test I proposed all Americans should be required to pass: http://www.floydpinkerton.net/fun/immigration/imindex.html
How many of you can pass it?
(for the ***** burying me above) - halavais, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7The scare quotes are quite unnecessary. There is enough evidence of vote tampering in the last presidential election to seriously call into question the legitimacy of the current administration.
- Memitim, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6AJRiddle: Yes, because without the backing of the Bush administration, those officials wouldn't be officials. If Iraq ever becomes a true democracy then the Shi'ites will own that place, and they aren't known for playing well with others. The current Iraqi administration, such as it is, is being help together at the barrel of a gun, and they don't dare bite the hand that feeds because there are already plenty of crazed insurgents who would like nothing more than to take every one of their heads. Timing a verdict to assist their benefactors is a trivial provision, especially since they had decided the outcome long before Saddam was found hiding in a hole. Or do you really think that some retard is out there thinking that the court may actually have found Hussein innocent?
- itsthemechanic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@pabster: you better be damn nice to foreigners, as they now own the deeds to most of your country. So start learning how to say "How nice to see you!" in Chinese.. hahah.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11Remember, it won't be lost, it will be "stolen".
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Many R's and the people that vote for them still insist/believe that Iraq/Saddam was behind the 9/11 attacks. Having a guilty verdict come out against Saddam two days before the election, some R's will point to it and say, "See, I told you we're making progress in Iraq, they found their own praised dictator guilty and will hang him. Democracy is taking root! The terrorists are losing! And never forget 9/11! Vote for us because we're still winning, the libtard Dems could never have gotten a guilty verdict in Iraq, they're all pussies.".
That's why it matters, because voters are gullible and will eat this ***** up. - BedlamX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Olle
France is being disliked because they go out of their way to undermine everything we try to accomplish in the U.N.
If the U.S. leaves Iraq too soon it will go into civil war. If the Dems win this may happen. I just dont know I certainly wouldnt go so far as to say France is correct on anything. People used to say Bush went in to obtain Oil. France opposed that because Saddam was providing oil to France and the U.N in the Oil for food scandal. They are covering their ass by opposing us.
- TheOther1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cite your sources, please.
- jackminardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was not completely able to follow your incoherent pile of words but I believe you mentioned that Saddam should have been tried in Iraq?
He WAS tried in Iraq, by an IRAQI judge, and none of those things I am pretty sure you mentioned happened. Maybe try to not speak out of your ass next time. - thehouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2who gives a crap. he's guilty, and at least if you were basing your decision on the outcome of the trial you now have your outcome.
- takeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh c'mon... There is no doubt that Saddam killed many people.
Why should he be treated better than other murderers?
I'm talking about regular people who weren't lucky enough to be dictators in some country.
Just because he lived in a palace and rulled milions of people he should be treated better?
I think you were talking about a *fair* trial. - donte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4... or when the middle-east's worst despot is sentenced to hanging for crimes against humanity, it's big news any way you look at it.
Don't forget... *they have convicted him already.* The court has already decided this. What we'll see 4 days from now is a giant ass report explaining why they came up with the verdict (which again has already been decided and announced in court) that they did. And let me tell you, most people don't give a crap about that part. At the end of the day, the people watching/reading the news just wanted to know is he going to be sentenced to death or not. And that's exactly what they were given. And after this report comes out, it will not change the fact that he is going to the gallows (assuming he loses his appeal).
Not everything that doesn't make the administration look like jackasses is a conspiracy. Sometimes people that report the news actually want to report on major events like announcing a verdict in court, not when someone finally feels like releasing a 150 legal document. - takeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@zsamdani:
I wouldn't use iraqbodycount.com as a realiable source.
Once the Iraq invasion started I remember somebody pointed that out (and I actually verified that myself) that according to them civilians were killed during attacks on mobile SAM system, mobile radar equipment & military air defence radar.
I didn't had idea that civilians were operating this kind of machinery. - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Soars another 100+? You mean after it suffered the largest drop in 18 months last week?
Gas prices drop? You mean before they rise suddenly as analysts currently say they will immediately after elections?
Yeah, let's blame Bush for that. I'm all for it. - oricyst, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6mrassman commented "It would be awesome if you were required to pass an American immigration test before you could register to vote. That would solve a lot of problems. How many Americans could pass that test? 1% of the Bush supporters?" You divisive ass. Why say that. Would a significantly larger number of Democrats do better on that test? I doubt it. I'm voting mainly Democrat tomorrow because I think the Republicans have done a ***** job, but ***** like you have to keep poking and prodding at people that don't agree with you. Just debate this crap with out acting like every Republican is a religious nut, a dumb hick, or an evil corporate whore. Now Digg me down *****.
- halavais, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Thank God there are some red-blooded Americans on Digg. Hell, we didn't need anyone's help during the American Revolution, why would we care now.
We can keep are own house in order. I mean, look what happened the last time we were in Iraq. All those god-damned allies in the way. Keeping us from going in on the ground and soaking our feet in Iraqi blood. Where did our global reputation get us then? We don't need a global reputation, we have ICBMs!
And besides, we have the most solid democracy in the world. We now have a state of the art computerized voting system that takes the risk out of elections. I mean, why can't people just mind their own business, and follow orders? - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Bush was hoping there would be riots. Riots would mean Americans would be scared.
There were no riots. Even Iranians were dancing in the street. Whoops. - oogee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Folks in Iran haven't liked Saddam since they were at war in the 80s. Plus, Saddam's a sunni and the Iranis are shiites.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@minox:
yeah i didnt mean to respond to you but i clicked reply.. sorry
IT is emotion but so neos want us to believe they are above this crap and i am just point out they arent. Just saying it isnt as unlikely as people would like us to believe.. especially when you see the scare tactics they are trying now.
and there are more of these but here is one on the coffin ads
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/14/mg.fri/index.html
to be fair bush also used coffin ads but it was ok because it was a terror victim and not a soldier
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4467791
imagine if the dems had an ad, if you dont vote for them more soldiers will die.. do you think the gop would let them live that down? - appetite, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7It looks like there are a lot of conservative commentors swarming every political article that comes up. Then they quickly die off in numbers. I smell something fishy going on here.
- Athyrius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Saddam is thier cheap, dimestore replacement for Osama..who will probably be trotted out (or his corpse pulled out from the deep-freeze) just in time for the big one in '08.
The only thing the repubs have turned out to be even marginally apt with is timing. Sometimes. - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3They actually attacked the media for showing pictures of coffins. I don't remember anything about coffins in ads.
- thetaco82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, many comments expressing conservative views are buried, but have you actually read them?
"Look, ultra lefties...I am sorry that your hero was found guilty. Get over it."
"You make the mistake of thinking us Americans give a god damn what you foreigners think of anything, much less our Government."
Those are two of the worst offenders, but you get the idea. The ones being buried usually contain some type of insult and/or blatant exhibition of ignorance. I'm fairly liberal on most issues and I have dugg quite a few conservative comments in the last couple of days (the ones that are thought out well) - mediatedthought, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"All insist the verdict was not politically timed and that it was an Iraqi decision; there is no reason to doubt their word." Wtf? Why would there be any reason to doubt their word?
http://onthescene.msnbc.com/baghdad/2006/11/saddam_verdict_.html
MSNBC is a bunch of shills. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As if the Democrats wouldn't do the same damn thing. Come down off your soap boxes now.
- cramtod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2GOP spin, spin, spin, ...
> Gas prices hit 2006 low
Ok.
> Stock market soars another 100+ to above 12,100.
1. The DOW consists of the 30 largest, most widely held companies. It is not an accurate gauge of the economy. The S&P 500, is a more accurate measure.
2. A absolute number of the DOW is meaningless. In inflation adjusted dollars, it is barely at the level it was in 1999.
>Unemployment down to 4.4%
1. How many those jobs pay good salaries with health care? Quantity doesn't mean much without quality.
2. It doesn't include those people who have stopped looking for work. - Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Supposedly this justifies the Iraq invasion, so Bush can claim "I was right" just before election. Unfortunately, there's people stupid enough to flip their vote over it.
