- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -3/+61FTA - Ironically but understandably, the Harman case has become one of rare unequivocal bipartisanship, when no one from either side of the partisan isle utters a word. How many House or Senate Republicans have you heard screaming, or even better, calling for an investigation? The right wing remains silent.
Congress takes care of their own. They are almost all criminals of one stripe or another, so they don't rat out their colleagues. Ever. - sheeplescareme, on 05/05/2009, -4/+56she is the most gagged person in us history.
i recommend checking out all the links on wiki:

at the very least. she isn't gagged for reasons of national security, but to cover up the criminal activities of the gooferment. - emlev, on 05/05/2009, -0/+35BTW, that photo is Congresswoman Jane Harman, not Sibel Edmonds. Go to the original article for a photo of Edmonds.
- rcook18, on 05/05/2009, -3/+33Blackmail seems a real enough possibility -- perhaps that is what Cheney had in the big safe in his office.
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 05/05/2009, -1/+29Given the recent wiretapping capabilities of the government, it would not surprise me if every member of congress has been recorded making career ending statements that would magically appear in the media if they didn't fall in line.
The very same powers that have been grabbed by the government can be used against politicians just as easy as against terrorists and citizens. - GovernmentSp00k, on 05/05/2009, -3/+26In other news, the fascist farce "Department of "Homeland" (in)SSecurity" lists “Alternative Media” as "potential terrorists': http://www.prisonplanet.com/dhs-document-lists-alt ...
Funny how they never list the REAL criminals like Hastert and Harman in matters of treason, espionage and national security right...That would be implicating their own team. Everyone else is the "issue" but their own organized crime syndicate in power. We the people who fund these cretin mis-leaders salaries with our tax money, are the "problem." But not the mis-leaders in the administration selling us out to foreign governments and putting our nation at risk - we condone and approve that!
The "alternative media" -that's the problem!!
Defenders of the Constitution and Patriot groups - they are a serious threat to "national security." People who fly U.S. flags (gasp!! OMG!!) are "potential terrorists" - we must do a "report" on them!
Yet government criminals engaging in blackmail like Hastert and Harman get a FREE PASS.
What a ***** joke.
"WAR ON TERROR"
We know who their "war" is REALLY on. - funhouse1970, on 05/05/2009, -3/+24You cannot rise in gov't without being compromised and controlled. Investigate the Franklin Cover-up - historical instance of the sickest "Eyes Wide Shut"-type corruption. Dirty secrets lie at the heart of Skull and Bones-type initiation rituals too.
- CoolHandLuke70, on 05/05/2009, -5/+25I understand that the Mossad set up many in the House and Senate and filmed them in their misdeeds so as to keep them under their thumbs.
- avengingturnip, on 05/05/2009, -1/+18I think that is called omert.
- buggles, on 05/06/2009, -0/+15I don't trust the Republicans or the Democrats, House or Feds. I don't trust any of these *****.
- kanojo1969, on 05/06/2009, -1/+16The one person who I think has been responsible more than anyone for the democrat's slide into corruption and blackmail is Pelosi.
Nobody's really investigated her, but it just seems that every time something is reported which *should* result in an investigation and prosecution, she goes into action and stops any democrat from pushing for hearings.
Back when Clinton was being dragged over the coals for getting a blowjob, the republicans didn't seem too scared to ask for impeachment, obviously the amount of dirt the democrats had on them wasn't enough to keep them quiet then. But now the shoe is on the other foot it seems no democrat will speak up because of the fear of getting caught themselves.
I don't think the dems were always like this, I'm sure Pelosi has brought with her a culture of machiavellian behaviour that has left the entire party completely crippled and unable to do anything. it's sickening and I'm sure she's the root cause.
I have literally no idea why she's in the Democrats when everything she does helps the Republicans. Can anyone think of *anything* she has done since taking over that has helped her own party at all?
What a revolting creature. - o76923, on 05/06/2009, -0/+13it came out last year that congressmen had their offices tapped. DHS was spying on elected officials' staff for potential terrorist activity.
- WiseWeasel, on 05/06/2009, -0/+9The solution is to widen the use of trusted independent clearinghouses for congressional voting and campaign contribution records, such as votesmart.org and opensecrets.org around election time. Voters need to be exposed to the controversial votes made by their congresscritters before they get into the booth, and if they don't like their record, DON'T VOTE FOR THEM. The only issue is getting a large enough group of people angry enough with the status quo to actually go out of their way to inform themselves.
This could be helped along by compiling and exposing information on individual representatives one at a time around election time, and getting it posted on social media sites like Digg and random political blogs by an organized group of concerned citizens under a common highly marketable nonprofit banner ("Democracy 2.0" or something). If enough people are sufficiently angry or concerned to dedicate some time to such an effort, and if a recognizable brand for the effort could gain widespread awareness, it could have a significant impact on the outcome of elections. As always, the proof is in the voting records, and that is what will be used to irrefutably expose these members of congress that fail to represent their constituents. - buckrogers1965, on 05/06/2009, -0/+8I've wondered if the first thing they did when they tapped every phone wasn't to get dirt on all the politicians. I think we need some independent investigators that get paid only when they convict politicians and police of corruption.
- buckrogers1965, on 05/06/2009, -0/+8The mafia has a code of ethics. They don't lie to you about their greed.
- sodade, on 05/06/2009, -0/+7Dude is a master criminal - no way he kept them where you would think. They are probably guarded by 100 sharks in some Paraguayan fortress.
- WiseWeasel, on 05/06/2009, -0/+7Until we choose not to elect them anymore because they happen to be corrupt criminals who consistently vote against our interests.
- lucidgoo, on 05/06/2009, -0/+7I wish I could digg this article twice. Best quotes FTA
"Those who have been entrusted with the oversight and accountability of our government cannot do so if they are vulnerable to such blackmail from the very same people they are overseeing…Period."
"The absence of real investigative journalism and the pattern of blackout by our mainstream media seem now to have been almost universally accepted as a fact of life."
I feel this article hit right on the head many things that I have felt for a long time now. The only bipartisanship we see is when Congress protects itself and it's members. This is possible due to all of them being involved to some degree in various shady dealings most often connected with campaign contributions, and general self interest. Because everyone is dirty it is far too easy to get people to be quiet or roll over on important issues. Our Congress stopped representing us a LONG time ago and this is why America has been broken.
The media has also failed us. Through huge rounds of media consolidation and the idea that all businesses need to have %30 returns to be invested in, has killed much local and independent media. The fourth estate only deserves that name now because they are a part of the same corruption exists in Washington. They feed us the same BS that Congress does about representing us and our interests, while actually defending or promoting whoever gives them the most cash.
I could rant for hours about how broken our system is and frankly it makes my head spin, but I will not. We need to find solutions to this. Is it the system or is it the people? I personally believe that a system of representative democracy is absolutely the best system possible....Period. However how do we fix this culture of corruption? How do we ensure that our elected officials are on the straight and narrow if media will not use its $$ and tools to really investigate? Can the government as it stands even be trusted with such a responsibility? How do we get our representatives to represent us again? I'm not sure how to answer these questions, but all I can hope is that together we can. Some how we need to remind these politicians that We The People are the biggest lobby in this country. - AgeofMastery, on 05/05/2009, -2/+9Omerta

- richardwb1, on 05/06/2009, -0/+5Kudos to Sibel Edmonds. Brave. Intelligent. Beautiful.

- richardwb1, on 05/06/2009, -0/+4The Mafia is small potatoes compared to U.S. Imperialism.
- inactive, on 05/06/2009, -1/+5I would rather look at Sibel Edmonds than Jane Harmon
- Debba99, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4"Pursuit of cases such as mine, via cosmetically available channels, has been, and continues to be proven futile for whistleblowers". Well said Sibel Edmonds. The other caveat is State Governments are just as
corrupt and the Feds don't get involved with 'States' Jurisdictions'.
Time for the People to Stand Up and take back our Government. Join the Libertarian Party for the
return of Freedoms, Liberties, Property, and the pursuit of happiness and get Big Brother out of our
homes (DCF stealing our kids for the tax dollars States get from the Feds......double dipping the taxpayer;
Probate courts snatching our elders and stripping them of all rights and assets while the court disparages
family members on fabricated charges; charges the State and their 'connected' ARE guilty of)
Stand up against taxes, fines and programs that put familys into poverty and when we can't pay, they put us in jail. There is NO firewall between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Braches at the Federal or State
levels: Government is corrupted by self interests and maintaining burgeoning Government expense while robbing the people of more and more freedoms, liberties, and property. America is no longer the Land of the Free; we are ruled by Gestapo tactics of law enforcers and rewritten constritutional laws by career politicians thanks to an ever increasing flux of Attorneys into Politics. "They" give themselves free passes,
perks, benefits, and incentives that are nothing more than glossed over kickbacks in exchange for Gov't
contracts. Whistleblowers especially are painfully aware of Governments long fingers of power and influence
and how easily 'targeted' citizens can be devestated emotionally, financially, 'disappear', 'freak accidents'
and questionable suicides. Yet, we still fight: why? Our forefathers gave their very lives so their decendents:
'us' could be free. We the People bought the political jive and stood back like sheep as slowly but surely
we are where we are today: slaves to Government policies, procedures, rules, laws. Today, I was ticketed
$100 for holding my cell phone in the same hand that was holding onto the steering wheel. "Don't you know, that's against the law!, here's your ticket, and your fine: $100. Heil Hitler! - tdclark23, on 05/06/2009, -0/+3I remember when each of our current crop was the solution to a previous problem. Washington casts a spell that few can resist. I hope you are right some day WiseWeasel.
- scamper22, on 05/06/2009, -2/+4quick, centralize more power in the hands of the government!
- m0n0kr0m3, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1I don't really understand the whole blackmail thing. If you did something wrong and somebody is holding it over your head, at least for me they're going to get flipped. Of course I'm not a power hungry egomaniac that makes millions in kickbacks either.
- govtdoesnotwork, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1This case is a TV-media-ignored scandal the "watchdog" groups are conveniently ignoring, and have been since before the election. It's sickening.
