- Berkana, on 08/21/2008, -116/+722So tell me Rush, how the ***** is George W. Bush qualified?
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -121/+532I now refer to my bowel movements as Limbaugh Moments.
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 08/21/2008, -31/+396Holy Crap Obama's Black?
- dshPls, on 08/21/2008, -115/+439I don't like Rush, but he meant that no one will criticize Obama because of his race, so Rush is in fact talking about other commentators, and not Obama.
He's trying to say that everyone's afraid of being called a racist, so they fear that being critical of Obama will incite the pack of retarded kids above this post. - bosssmiley, on 08/21/2008, -125/+414Limbaugh does everything short of call Barack Obama "an uppity *****". I had hoped this sort of disgusting Klansman attitude had left the mainstream of American public discourse back in the 60s. How does the man sleep at night?
- toetagger, on 08/21/2008, -155/+438Rush is the quintessential fat american capitalist pig. oink oink you fat ***** racist drug addict.
- thejimmyo, on 08/21/2008, -79/+359Limbaugh also played a song called "Barack the Magic Negro" on his show.
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/04/27/breaking- ... - Chode2235, on 08/21/2008, -15/+169Pills... if I remember right.
- edstate, on 08/21/2008, -34/+162Which was a lift from an OpEd piece written by a liberal Los Angeles Times writer... context is your friend.
- BaseballGuyCAA, on 08/21/2008, -82/+207You know what's sad? Not one commenter yet has actually tried to prove Limbaugh wrong or right with real evidence. Rather, everyone has just been bleating the same tired old ad hominem attacks like a bunch of mindless sheep.
For the record: yes, Rush Limbaugh is loud, opinionated, overly stubborn, and has a tendency to annoy the ***** out of those who don't subscribe to his exact list of ideals. Yes, he had a drug problem. But these facts don't automatically make him wrong about everything. - n1eb, on 08/21/2008, -22/+120You win the gold star for this comments page.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -123/+220Rush is such a douche *****
- legolas68, on 08/21/2008, -59/+137The statement he made is spot on when taken in context. I sincerely doubt the efforts of thinkprogress to actually put the statment into context.
The gist is that the democrat party has gotten so lost in political correctness that they wind-mill themselves at every turn. - edstate, on 08/21/2008, -64/+137Just like everyone stands up to Jesse Jackson... wait. Oh, right. They don't.
- MammasMilk, on 08/21/2008, -10/+81i think you've insulted your bowel movements
- sotonohito, on 08/21/2008, -12/+81Could you explain how he was successful? During his tenure the budget cratered, he's on record as stating that he's glad he was no longer governor and wouldn't have to deal with the mess, and more important the job of Governor in Texas is a joke. The Texas governor isn't an executive, they're cheerleaders. The Texas constitution gives less power and authority to the governor than it does to a member of the legislature.
Let's not forget that one of Governor Bush's big "successes" was inviting the Taliban, yes the same Taliban, to Texas and treating them lavishly. At that time only us dirty ***** hippies thought that maybe, just maybe, dealing with religious lunatics who hated women, murdered heretics, etc was a bad idea, Bush thought they were great people, just like his close friends the dictators of Saudi Arabia. - albrad84, on 08/21/2008, -28/+94Speaking of context, I'm no fan of Rush, but I think everyone is reading the quote incorrectly. I think what he means is that because Obama is black, nobody had the guts to stand up and say no to him and his inexperience (out of fear of appearing racist).
Everyone is reading it as if he's saying that everyone should say NO because he is black. - OneLess, on 08/21/2008, -5/+69I don't see race. People tell me I'm white and I believe them because I shop at Eddie Bauer.
- OneLess, on 08/21/2008, -33/+95Limbaugh's a douchebag, but the ultimate purpose of putting that song on the air was to get the "drive by media" and lib-rulz riled up so that he and the dittoheads could laugh about it. "Magic negro" is actually a legitimate term and he was using it in context.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_negro - Chode2235, on 08/21/2008, -82/+132I'm no Bush lover (the president anyway) but he was a successful two term Governor from one of our largest states. Who was popular with both republicans and democrats for his bi-partisan approach to governing.
If you remember the 2000 campaign it was mostly about Texas executing people and Cheney's ties to Big Oil, not about Bush not being qualified.
The governorship is considered an acceptable avenue for those seeking the "highest office" - Ljay90, on 08/21/2008, -138/+185Well, Mr. Limbaugh, on behalf of Black America, I would just like to say:
Go fist yourself *****-face. - phydeaux70, on 08/21/2008, -49/+95If you'd cary to bury the hatred for a second and listen he has a point.
If you can honestly say that a one term Senator has the experience to lead the Democratic party, that says a lot about you and the party. There are more qualified better suited Democrats to run for the Presidency. However, if they would have said 'No' to him, I bet the ACLU and RPC would have said something about it. - btschul, on 08/21/2008, -27/+72Capitalist is a bad thing?
- surilamin, on 08/21/2008, -6/+49Great song btw. Hilarious if you understand it in context. As Edstate stated, the term was coined by a liberal who was mad that Barrack was doing well and Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were not because Obama was not involved with the Civil RIghts Movement.
- petebot, on 08/21/2008, -11/+53@ albrad84: What Rush is trying to do is imply the only reason Barack is the presidential candidate is BECAUSE he's black.
- inigomntoya, on 08/21/2008, -18/+60Yes he did - and does. And it was and always will be hilarious.
- edstate, on 08/21/2008, -32/+74He is when it suits him.
- ozymandias2012, on 08/21/2008, -17/+59"Must have hit it pretty close to the mark to get her all riled up like that, huh, kid?"
- Rentro, on 08/21/2008, -33/+74Bush has never done an honest days work in his life. There has always been somebody there to do his heavy lifting and to bail him out. He's never been anything but a total imposter, who's daddy has had to come bail him out time and time again.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -7/+46Who by the way was also black. - The L.A. Times writer. In fact, i still have the link.
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-ehrenste ... - ozymandias2012, on 08/21/2008, -29/+67There's no need to prove him wrong. Just call him a racist, problem solved.
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -64/+102I was a POW so therefor you owe me a pass on anything I do or say!
I also expect you to be ready to go to the gates of Hell when I tell you to ,my friends or else I'll reinact the draft and you will have no choice! - robman8023, on 08/21/2008, -64/+99I wish I could digg you sensible people up like a million times to counteract the groupthink liberal retards who are blindly following His Holiness Obama. He's all show and no go...hopefully everyone will realize that when we get closer to November.
Compare McCain to Bush? Give me a break.
McCain's only downside IMHO is his age. His experience, ability to reach across the aisle, and actual platform (not rhetoric) leaves Obama in the dust. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+37If you knew anything about Texas, you'd know that the real power in that state is held by the Lieutenant Governor, not the Governor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lieutenant_Governor_o ...
"It is considered the most powerful post in Texas government because its occupant controls the work of the Texas Senate and controls the budgeting process as a leader of the Legislative Budget Board."
Bush's Lt. Governor was Bob Bullock, a DEMOCRAT and a total badass who pushed Bush around and treated him like a child when he was in office. There are numerous accounts of how Bush was happy to hand the reigns over to Bullock and let him call the shots, which if you think about it was the perfect setup for his relationship with Cheney. - dafragsta, on 08/21/2008, -11/+45The funny thing is that he is a drug addict and most of his listeners are more than happy to see casual drug users go to jail over a little pot.
- aliengoods, on 08/21/2008, -22/+55You forgot moron and hypocrite.
- zeitgueist, on 08/21/2008, -18/+50Evidence? He said he doesn't think Obama is qualified, and that people are afraid to say so because he's black. That's an opinion based on his own personal perception. How on earth would he go about proving or disproving that?
As for experience, he taught constitutional law, was a civil rights lawyer, worked as a community organizer, and on both the Illinois and US Senate. All those are pertinent to someone running for a high level executive position. Lincoln arguably had worse qualifications. - edstate, on 08/21/2008, -10/+42The media? Companies? ...Do me a favor and grab that New Yorker on Jackson, and how he and his sons "racially hold up" companies by threatening to call them racists unless they give them money and high level jobs.
It helps to educate yourself just a bit before answering.
Oh, and GOP policies? You mean like Jim Crow laws? Oh, oops. That was the Dems. My bad.
You might want to also do some research on the welfare state, and what it has "done" to minorities in this country. - dfsjdkflasjk, on 08/21/2008, -4/+34who's obama
- dalittle, on 08/21/2008, -23/+52He is just looking for ratings. Ignore him.
- FamousAnus, on 08/21/2008, -19/+48Yeah....I hear "American" is too.
- OneLess, on 08/21/2008, -12/+41Limbaugh is certainly an ass, but how about not sinking to his level by insulting a whole class of individual people who disagree with you?
- jasoninoakland, on 08/21/2008, -42/+70Right-wingers really, really believe that Obama supporters are supporting Barack because he's black.
This is how out-of-touch with reality they are. - curtisag, on 08/21/2008, -21/+47He does have a point. If Obama were an ordinary white politician, he would not have beaten the Hillary machine. It was his blackness combined with his oratory skills which gave him a distinct advantage in the primaries. Flocks of African American voters rallied to him mainly because he's black. And all he has for his record is 2 years in the Senate.
Obama would have made an excellent choice for Presidential nomination in 2012 or 2016, but not so much in 2008. Experience does matter in politics, especially Presidential politics. How does 2 years in the Senate, and a few years in the Illinois state senate qualify you to run for President? Joe Biden, for example, is an elder statesman that has the qualifications to run. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -4/+30You weren't suppose to notice, nobody was suppose to tell !
- darny, on 08/21/2008, -12/+37Finally, someone with some sense. Thanks for clarifying this thing, you're 100% correct. I don't favor Rush and I'm gonna vote for Obama, but I think Rush's comment is something worth thinking about.
- GregFD3S, on 08/21/2008, -0/+24"There will be no peace until the blacks stop calling themselves black, and the whites stop calling themselves white."
- Bob Marley - Hetman, on 08/21/2008, -21/+44You know being a huge hypocrite really does ruin your credibility. You cannot really talk for years and years about how all drug addicts should be locked away for basically life, and then use drugs. I mean he did not even get any jail time. Thats not fair, he does not even follow his own rules.
- pathouston22, on 08/21/2008, -12/+35You scary black America.
- aliengoods, on 08/21/2008, -34/+56Epicfail, how nutjobs like you still defend Bush is astonishing. Even after it's been proven that he lied to get us into a war, he's destroyed the constitution, and he's destroyed the economy, you still think he's your Messiah?! I just don't get it. Please explain.
