- SQLserver, on 07/03/2009, -8/+28Republicans are really shooting themselves in the foot for continuing to listen to and idolize this guy. Seriously, he's painting their party as hateful and extremely right-winged, and most Americans aren't going to side with them.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -0/+11What are you talking about nerd?
Most political ***** on the front page is ranting libertarian garbage. - supferrets, on 07/03/2009, -10/+21Let those bitter morons whine, they're just pissed because no matter how much they bash (or litigate against) Franken, he always comes out on top. Can't keep a good man down.
Congrats to Al. Suck it, Fox. - twiztidsinz, on 07/04/2009, -1/+9Page 40 means its OLD.
But lemme guess.... It's not REALLY old.. its a LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIBRUUUUUUUL conspiracy that went back in time and put the story there. - alapoet, on 07/03/2009, -7/+15It's richly ironic that blowhard Rush Limbaugh is the best thing that ever happened to the Democratic Party. What a moron!
- Harboggles, on 07/03/2009, -9/+16And always WAS a big fat idiot.
- Semblance, on 07/04/2009, -1/+8I LOVE watching rightwingers melt down. Get used to it, losers!
- dissolutionman, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7I watched the recount process live, as they judged the challenged ballots. There was no stolen election here The board in charge of it acted professionally and fairly. It was close, but Al did win.
A lot of Republicans point to about 100 ballots that they assert were duplicates, but even if they were, Al still would have won. Sorry guys, Al beat Norm fair and square. - SirBruce, on 07/04/2009, -0/+6To those of you who aren't getting the "big fat idiot" reference, it's not a slam by the author of the article. Al Franken wrote a book entitled "Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot" before he ran for the Senate.
- Gr00ver, on 07/03/2009, -4/+10..and will always be a big fat idiot.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -2/+7Rush Limbaugh isn't a conservative, he is more just a shill for the GOP.
- gdo01, on 07/04/2009, -2/+7You forgot the part where the court ruled unanimously rather than ruling on party lines like the Supreme Court did in 2000.
- piieerrrree, on 07/04/2009, -0/+5If it's on page 40, that means it was on the front-page some 40 pages of content ago, just like this article will be on page 40 in 40 pages of new content.
- FishHammer, on 07/04/2009, -0/+5So keep writing articles about him, that'll teach him!
- Ghostalker, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4I guess if a republican isn't elected, then the system must be broken. Seems to be the general theme whenever this kinda ***** goes down.
- ceolwulf, on 07/04/2009, -1/+5Who really cares how coarse the language is? This is the Internet, not you're mother's church group. And if you don't have the source to back it up, your comment is worthless. The only reason you even posted was to troll this article.
Bury for being a moron. - Ultra99, on 07/04/2009, -1/+4Limbaugh makes my penis soft.
- elliotys, on 07/04/2009, -1/+4Far right=Epic Fail
- TheSwashbuckler, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Said Rush.
After the 2006 election in which Republicans got their collective asses kicked Rush said: "But the way I feel is this: I feel liberated, and I'm just going to tell you as plainly as I can why. I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don't think deserve having their water carried." - orlandogeek, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Well, it just so happens in this instance, the advice is probably sound.
- missinglink, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Classy.
- dissolutionman, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4For ever and ever. Amen.
- noyurawk, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3I guess you aren't familiar with sarcasm, where you can mock an opponent by using their tactics and exaggerate them a little to show their essence. You missed the point entirely.
- inkswamp, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4The meltdown on the right comes from two facts: 1) Franken is vastly more entertaining than any of them could ever dream of being; 2) Franken is vastly more intellectual than any of them could ever dream of being.
I'm puzzled by the way some of them focus on the content of his books. I've read some recent articles, however, that suggest right-wingers don't fully understand sarcasm and irony which may explain why many of them claim to have read his books and think he's insane. If you took his books at face value, yeah, he would be nuts. But to the rest of us out here who have a reasonable degree of literacy, his books are fantastic. "Lies and the Lying Liars..." is hilarious but also an amazing deconstruction of how right-wing elements in the news media build up and spread falsehoods about Democrats. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4Republicans suck ass. They are totally Anti-American. It's the truth.
- supferrets, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Also, the title of Franken's book was a satire of how Limbaugh often uses ad hominem attacks against his opponents rather than credible arguments.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Ummm, you're daft.
That quote says that Rush will "carry the water" for Republicans whenever they dominate in Washington. - Ghostalker, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Just doing my part Zarchon :) Thanks for the text-block reply to my two sentence remark.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1That's like saying "All presbyterians are idiots..."
- orlandogeek, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1I've not seen any proof that dead people voted for either candidate, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened on both sides. It's a non-issue as the number of votes this accounts for is negligible in the overall total.
- orlandogeek, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Too far in any direction on the political compass is a place you don't want to go. The most functional, safe place is somewhere near the center. Take good ideas from all sides, and leave the bad stuff alone.
- Unimatrix0, on 07/07/2009, -0/+0"Seriously, he's painting their party as hateful ......"
Yeah, unlike Democraps and leftists liberals with the loving comments that are posted here. /sarcasm off - SirBruce, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1Ummm, that quote pretty much contradicts antizog; Rush is proclaiming his Conservatism and that he only shilled for the GOP for the 2006 election.
- missinglink, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1Why do Democrats always presume to give Republicans advice? If Republicans did what Democrats wanted, wouldn't they just be Democrats?
- Zarchon, on 07/04/2009, -2/+1You are right ceowulf, this isn't his mom's church group. This is obviously your locker room. I understand a few people use foul language and believe it is or should be accepted anywhere, any time, and any place. Please don't act like some one preferring not to use vulgar language in a public forum is some how broken. It should be common courtesy to hold your tongue in public. It's not and we deal. The troll in this case is you. The name caller? Once again some one on the left, oh, that's you too. Be thankful NMR didn't mention hate. You guys have that market cornered too. The way I see it, the right is always telling the left they are wrong. The left is always telling the right they are evil and hated. Pretend you are a conservative for one post. Try to be as gentile as you can but disagree with a point from the left. Check out the hate. I would say pretend to be a liberal and write something totally ridiculous about the right and see how it gets totally supported, except that happens all the time.
- DavidNiven, on 07/05/2009, -3/+1It's not negligible when you consider that Franken only "won" by maybe 1,000 votes at the end.
- dreamache, on 07/04/2009, -3/+1Haha, being dugg down for an intelligent / reasonable observation. That's a first on digg!
/s - ceolwulf, on 07/04/2009, -3/+0same thing happens with every candidate. it's the norm now, whether we like it or not, and bitching about it happening is like bitching about paying taxes (I'm looking at you, Wesley Snipes).
- Zarchon, on 07/04/2009, -5/+1Says the sheep on the left.
- NMRgentleman, on 07/04/2009, -8/+3Nice headline. So do any conservatives around happen to have a link to a study that found the language on liberal blogs, in both posts and comments, to be much coarser than at conservative blogs? I can't find it, but I can remember reading it. I think it's pretty obvious anyways to those of us who read both. Any liberals want to explain why? Is it explained purely by the fact that the religious and parents, two groups that watch their language, are more likely than other groups to be conservative?
- Zarchon, on 07/04/2009, -6/+1Let me just say this.
Presidential election 2000 and 2004.
Has this happened more than once where the Republican didn't get elected?
What it seems to me is that the left, um that would be you, looks for close races, bitches and whines about every vote counting, recounting said votes trying to guess if that person either voted 1) for the Democrat 2) Didn't vote for that office or 3) meat to vote Democrat but was too stupid to figure out how to do it. Then you keep doing this until you win the election. If you can't manage to pull off the theft of office, see presidential election 2000 and 2004, then you bitch about the elections being stolen. You do this in Minn. and manage to actually pull one out and you then say "I guess if a republican isn't elected, then the system must be broken. Seems to be the general theme whenever this kinda ***** goes down." See, the left has total idiots too, thank you for being one. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -8/+3I'm extremely interested in science and programming, I find this very interesting.
- Barackalypse, on 07/04/2009, -8/+2In for a penny in for a pound, its not like the Congress had any dignity or trust left anyhow. Seriously, how bad can he be compared to Diane Feinstein or Nancy Pelosi? At least he's funny on purpose once in a while.
- dreamache, on 07/04/2009, -10/+2"Rush Limbaugh is still a big fat idiot"
Why do I get the image of a 13 year old prepubescent teenager as the author (Joe Conason) of this article? If you're going to bash someone, at least try to appear intelligent in doing so. - ml4rocky, on 07/03/2009, -13/+5And so are his whining pals at Fox News who say that Franken "stole" the election (Oh, same way as George Bush did?? Not possible.)
- Barackalypse, on 07/04/2009, -10/+1Tell that to Martin Luther King Jr.
- Agentdvd, on 07/04/2009, -12/+2Im ganna go visit all 57 states with my worshiping minions made up of Illegal aliens and 85 percent of digg.com. Who's with?
*walks off a cliff, all minions follow* - DavidNiven, on 07/04/2009, -16/+5With all the dead people somehow casting votes for Franken, you'd be a fool to not suspect something amiss.
Don't tell me that you really think that this election was squeaky clean on Franken's part. Please. - FLUX, on 07/04/2009, -19/+7Amazing how 64 diggs and 6 comments gets any liberal ***** to the front page of digg but 1300 diggs on a conservative comment and it is still page 40 or so
yea that new algorithm is really working, who wrote it Al GORE
