- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+33He's also the same guy that railed against any drug offender and demanded they be locked away. It would have been nice if the war on drugs got someone who deserved it. The man is a hypocrite of the highest order.
- paulvcarter, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28He is the worst kind of liar, he smokes cubans, flies to france for dinner, goes on sex holidays in Dom Rep. and all whilst claiming to be one of the people, one of the christian right.....he's laughing at them all the way to the bank.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24p0ser:
>Exactly. This faux outrage over Limbaugh has totally obfuscated the fact that MJF's ad was a bunch of lies.
Actually his ad contained zero lies. He stated, factually, that the opponent in the race opposed expanding stem cell research, which he does.
You see, this is the insurmountable gulf that you and I can't cross. We can't even have a conversation because you know what the facts are, and I've seen the ad. So because you and I can't even agree on the facts (even if I showed you the ad and gave you the transcript you still wouldn't believe it) we have no common frame of reference to have a conversation. - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -11/+29There has been a repeated claim by the Republican party to intellectual deficiency, and it seems to be working. They attack the intellectual elite, including scientists, as condescending and/or overreacting. They even rely on the ignorance of their constituency and their willingness to ignore all other facts besides what they provide when making decisions.
There is a "liberal media bias" in reality because reality rarely supports the conservative position. Have you even tried to have an argument with a conservative? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20p0ser:
>He never railed against drug offenders after his addiction.
That's funny logic. In other words, the only way he could find empathy was to be an addict. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Gee Viktor, don't you know that the true test of a man's character is that no matter how wrong he never says he's sorry and never retracts?
That's how you know that Rush has character. He just "forgets."
(Yes, this is sarcasm.) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17xsecret:
>Also DO NOT forget the FACT that both candiates are pro stem cell research, something that the media keeps hiding, yet Michael keeps quite about his bias ad.
That makes no sense. One is for embryonic stem cell research, and one is not. That is the difference between night and day. One set of research is for undifferentiated stem cells, one is adult stem cells. You can't just fudge it and say "well, it's all the same." It's not.
His ad was completely honest. - RipperMortis, on 10/12/2007, -10/+21Dugg you up because you used the word 'misunderestimating'.
- kolop1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Rush is nothing more than a talking head. He is not stupid though, he knows the more outrageous the things he says, the more coverage he gets in the media.
Rush all so knows his audience is stupid, even he does not believe half of what he says. - successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12If you would PAY ATTENTION lordtalus, then you would see why you are getting dugg down and smacked around.
It really is quite simple...
Your idiotic, incessant, and childish shifting tactic of 'but but but what about" Pelosi is the problem. This thread isn't ABOUT Pelosi. Why don't you be a big boy and realize this? Is this too hard for you to understand? This isn't that complicated....
Are you awake now? - Fracture98, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Wow. That's some pretty good faking. He so convincing, he looks like an *actual* puss-filled-sore on the ass of society.
- ViktorVaughn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15@p0s3r
No, just during his drug addiction and he's never retracted any of it. Good point though. - rationalist, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11If he's not stupid, then he is a liar and a demagogue. Hardly an improvement.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -19/+25Sean Hannity is just AS bad or WORSE than Limbaugh...
- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Rush is dumb on the issues, but smart on the tactics. The tactic here is to distract any and all attention from Iraq. If he needs to be a buffoon to do it, he's more than willing to take on that role as long as we we talk about HIM, instead of the central issue of this election: Iraq, this failed administration, and their puppet majority in congress.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13Looks like the Hannity drones are out in full force today on Digg.

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/10/24/rush-stem-cell/ - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7His intelligence is an open question; his lying, insensitivity and boorishness is not.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Killinger:
>So, it wasn't lying or misleading when Fox says Talent wants to "criminalize the science that gives us a chance for hope"?
No, he wasn't, since performing embryonic stem cell research requires cloning, something that anti-abortion opponents are quite aware of, which is why they're calling it "cloning" since they know it evokes Dolly the Sheep.
So what Fox said was accurate. - successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Ahh yes killinger,, I heard it and read it..
He has done "such" a good job of discussing the matter hasn't he? I mean all that bobbing and weaving making fun of the MESSENGER worked so well didn't it? Aren't you so proud of our fellow "conservative"? *****...
I like how he also "picked apart the message" later on about how the "libruls" believe he and others are "beyond reproach" and "angelic" and can't be "debated" because of their illness/disability. Nice ***** EXCUSE.....Coulter and others simply SAY this "line" because they CANNOT focus on the MESSAGE. Rush did this as well. He should have stayed on topic and the message, instead of resorting to the lameass shoot the messenger smear tactic...And then, when called out on his idiocy, he brings up the "well but but we can't debate them cause their special..."
What did Rush apologize for?
Exactly....wake the hell up. - TTheSpook, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat, Idiot
by Al Franken......'nuff said - successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm glad you have realized the error of your ways lordtalus. Tonight's "Hate Speech " will commence in approximately 1 hour.
Please take your seat and remember, our leader is watching, and we are still at war with Eurasia.....
WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS POWER
;-) - successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6No one wants to censor you. YOUR problem (consistently on every political thread) is YOUR need to but but but your way into a conversation.
YOUR first comment was......"On the other hand, everyone that Listens to Al Franken..."
but....but.....but....
Then you moved on to Pelosi....
but but but......
This is simple, try to keep up lordtalus. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lordt:
>Do you want to censor people? I'm not talking about Rush or anyone that is in the limelight. Do you want people, ie you me, to be held accountable for our opinions...no matter how we present them? Because that seems like the argument you are presenting. Rush, Franken, Coulter, Penn...don't matter and they have every right in the world to spread lies or truths. If you don't like what they have to say...don't listen.
Here's a great summary for those who want to read it about why lordtalus' paragraph is a logical fallacy:
"A quite common outcome in arguments between science and pseudoscience is when the person holding the failing position resorts to saying “…well, that is my view and I am entitled to my opinion.” This is often recruited in support of the argument being made, thus implying that ones entitlement is somehow important for the truth of the argument itself. Indeed they are entitled to their opinion, but their entitlements were never in question. We are all entitled to our opinions – but this has no consequence for the scientific truth of them and does not establish or justify the validity of them. So the problem here arises when one recruits the mere ‘entitlement’ (and no evidence) to a view, as some form of evidential support for the truth of the view. It is often used as a final defence mechanism when faced with quite strong counter-arguments and evidence.
"The crucial point with this error in argumentation is that your individual entitlement to hold a view is no indication at all as to its validity or truth – indeed, it is completely irrelevant (a form of the non-sequitur fallacy). When having a scientific debate, discussing evidence and theory, it makes no sense to recruit your human rights and ‘entitlements’ in defence of any view. It shifts the focus from one of science, evidence, and reason to one of human rights (see Whyte, 2005). This is an irrelevant and unhelpful tangent. You are of course entitled to hold any view you please, but it becomes a fallacy of reason to recruit that mere entitlement as some form of evidence in support of the truth of that view. - theDevilsDue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't really describe Rush as "languishing" in syndicated radio...he makes a *****-load of money.
The "Talent on loan from God" and his ego are used mostly to annoy "liberals", as he says. And for the most part, those who don't actually listen to his show and realize he is being facetious get snookered. The guy was a D.J. before he got into talk-radio. For some reason, most people think he has always been filthy rich. - rationalist, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Yes, we know you support cloning, killinger, but one of you is already one too many. Yawn.
- blankfaze, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Since when does Rush have to fake it?
- skyeflye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@texpundit: to prevent that bothersome itching, what you need to do is take another Oxycodone before the itching begins. /sarcasm
Seriously though, I think that some people are just more prone to becoming physically addicted to certain chemicals/drugs whether it be alcohol, prescription meds, or any other controlled substance. Thankfully, like you, I've never found any "drug" that my body likes or wants more of at all (besides these darn "fish oil" gel caps...I love these things ::swallow:: ). :) - aweraw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@lordTalus
"You have failed to answer a single question, and simply can not stand that I am a genius sent from God."
Yeah, I'm a genius sent from God too. Except, my divine powers of intellect are far more potent those granted to you. That's because he favors me.
Can you feel my telepathic corrective thought packets permeating your skull? No? God didn't grant you with the ability to sense when someone is remotely pummeling your mind? (Bummer man... that's a handy one). Soon enough, I'll have you building shrines to Bill Clinton.
WOOOOOOOOOO /spooky nutter freak - vhold, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"Many people have concluded, from Rush Limbaugh's recent disparaging comments about Michael J. Fox and Parkinson's disease, that Limbaugh must be an utter fool."
Of course, an utter fool! I love how the whole setup of this story is that what he said was inarguably foolish.
What he said was politically incorrect.
Rush Limbaugh didn't get to where he is by being politically correct. He makes money by getting people to pay attention to him, either for or against. The more stories you write about him, the more you help him. People will tune in just to see what the big deal is.
What this writer calls a "tirade" was really only a few sentences. It's precisely that kind of blowing out of proportion that makes this whole thing so ridiculous. Rush offhandedly said something obviously politically incorrect, and all of his opponents come out of the woodwork to try to exploit that. But to what end? Maybe if they're lucky Rush will personally address what they said on his show and get themselves some windbag airtime too? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Lordt:
>You are assuming somebody actually made a valid argument. Your post is completely irrelevant.
You're right, you did not make a valid argument as I showed. Your post did not support your position and it attempted to say that because one is entitled to an opinion that somehow validates an opinion. It doesn't. In other words, your post was meaningless. - killinger777, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Oxycontin is no joke. It is basically heroin or morphine in a pill.

So... who knows if his stupidity is genuine, but I can say with certainty that I'm more educated than him. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Devils:
>The very next segment, he talked about the calls from listeners and said that he may absolutely be wrong and if he was he would apologize. So what exactly is the big deal?
Well, for one thing he didn't apologize until much later, after stating that he was standing by what he said (further upsetting pretty much everyone.) The second problem I would have with that is who would libel a disabled guy on the air without even bothering to have his staff phone his spokesman and find out the truth? A person would have to be very lazy and indifferent to the truth. - cplusplus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Bush is also a huge genious who plays dumb 'cause Joe Public loves it.
- successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This isn't about his control, it's about his WORDS and his ACTIONS....You can try to spin this all you want, but he's not getting "power" from this. He may be getting it momentarily after he says stupid *****, but it eventually catches up to him in the end.
People see him, and you, for what he is....a shill, sheep leading, bag of wind, that has "opinions" different from the MAJORITY of America...
He's holding on to a sinking ship lordtalus, nothing more. Americans are waking up to that FACT, and are beginning to step on his fat little fingers as he clings to it.
Be an American, jump ship now, before it's too late.... - successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3He's not helping his numbers....vhold
- shupy, on 02/14/2009, -0/+1He went where he knew he could make money. So he hitched his wagon to the neo-con star. He doesn't do books for the simple reason that his reasoning and ranting doesn't really stand up to scrutiny.
I've listened to his show, and I find it offensive. I find Howard Stern offensive too, but I don't think Stern willing does harm. I believe Rush does. It is a diservice when he blatantly distorts information and manipulates a sector of the population that doesn't have a great grip on reality. - shupy, on 02/14/2009, -0/+1Rush is not stupid, but he is amoral.
Early in his career he was a contrarian. He would argue any side of an issue. However, he made more money when he pandered to the right wing.
So he did the smart thin, he hitched his wagon to the neo-con star.
And has made millions.
Personally, I think he has complete contempt for his audience. I suspect he enjoys how he can get the "ditto heads" to actually make news by taking actions that are against their own intersts.
But so what, he is rich, getting richer, and will always have an audience. - successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Try to pay attention killinger....I stated....that Rush started out on the issue, then quickly took the stupid route into the "shoot the messenger" realm. Get one braincell to begin firing synapses at another if possible killinger.
Can you pay attention? I realize your "facts"...get it yet? Are you NOW awake Killinger?
Bigdave handled you on the MJF issue and his "lies".
As for your "I don't think he minds it" opinion concerning Rush, have you seen his numbers? Missed that part as well huh? It's NOT helping Rush to look like such an idiot.
A Temporary boost for the week to see what he would say, then those tuning in get his idiocy revealed...
Keep listening dittohead, I dropped his idiocy years ago... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Rush makes his money off of ratings. Rush's ratings increase the more outrageous he is. Thus, this is how he makes more money. He's not stupid, and he believes the crap that comes out of his mouth about as much as we do.
- successrealm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think Rush has had PLENTY to say over the years that wasn't taken "out of context" or "misquoted". HIS deeds, aren't the fault of the "libruls" no matter how he, or his "dittoheads" try to spin it....
- theDevilsDue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I happened to listen to the program that day. During the commercial break after he made the comment about Michael J. Fox either exaggerating or faking his symptoms, many of the listeners called and said that it more than likely was not the case. The very next segment, he talked about the calls from listeners and said that he may absolutely be wrong and if he was he would apologize. So what exactly is the big deal?
- robertc1964, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think Rush is smart enough to fake being as stupid as he is
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Killinger:

It's funny how feel good and sensitive Killinger is to those with addiction, when we're talking about Rush who's made a living at not being empathetic. - iching, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Logic, diplomacy and arguments based with facts are countered with

Hopefully the fallout from this impacts Limbaugh's EIB (Excellence In Bullsh*t) network, as well.
- theDevilsDue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He's taken to "task" nearly daily and he knows it. He even jokes about how what he is about to say will either be taken out of context or misquoted by the "left."
- jayesbee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I used to listen to Rush almost daily about 17 years ago. He never came off to me as trying to play the bumpkin card. One of his own slogans is "Talent on loan from God." He always went out of his way to appear to be smarter and better informed than anyone else. Rush is anything but an "everyman." His ego is too large for that, even if he wanted to affect that persona.
Rush has set it up so that he has permanent home court advantage. No one ever challenges him on his show. The occasional dissenting voices are carefully screened and ridiculed by Rush, using sound effects, personal attacks, etc.
When he does appear in "the real world," what happens there stays there. He always marches triumphantly back to his dittoheads, claiming he got the upper hand, that he was smeared, or maligned, or treated unfairly, and the dittoheads eat it up without question. The only reality for Rush is what happens during his show.
His opponents usually reside in the real world, plus they just plain don't like him, so they dismiss him as a "buffoon" or "idiot," but they do so at their peril. People marvel at Steve Job's Reality Distortion Field, but Rush holds the patent.
While there's no doubt that Rush is a successful radio personality, I'm always surprised he's not bigger. Given the current state of right wing punditry on Fox News, why is he still languishing in syndicated radio? Why hasn't he tried to relaunch his TV show? Hell, when was the last time he published a book? Maybe this is all part of his tight control on his own reality. -
