On the one hand you have an open-minded man who faces his opponent and speaks to him.
On the other an angry old man who sounded like a school yard bully tattling to the teacher about some kid who had the nerve to stand up to him, trying to think up just about anything he could to cut him down. - cate508, on 09/27/2008, -0/+19Obama clearly won. A little tired of the parsing. He's great on policy and apparently doesn't have persona issues that keep him from being polite.
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -1/+15Obama: So John, you like to pretend like the war started in 2007. You talk about the "surge," the war started in 2003. At the time, when the war started, you said it was going to be quick and easy. You said you knew where the weapons of mass destruction were -- and you were wrong. You said we were going to be greeted as liberators -- you were wrong. You said that there was no history of violence between Shi'a and Sunni, and you were wrong. ...if the question is, who is best equipped as the next president to make good decisions about how we use our military, how we make sure we are prepared and ready for the next conflict, then I think we can take a look at our judgment.
Obama has show the Best judgement on every issue! That is what America needs.
A POTUS with good judgement!
Obama/Biden 08! - kteachums, on 09/27/2008, -0/+14Hi,
I'm a citizen, a school teacher, a single mother, a 57 year old who wants to retire someday. The only candidate that thought about me last night was Barack Obama. I love the line about Early Childhood Education. You wouldn't believe how many children I see with needs. Yet, the opponents have the nerve to say that Obama just thinks about himself. Ha, even in his acceptance speech he said; "This has never been about me. It's about you." I feel like no matter what the nightmare of the economy holds. Barack has the ability to inspire and bring the American people where they will help each other. It is not about him but, we do need him as a leader. As a leader he will encourage the people and that is what is needed. In times of depression we rise above because we are Americans not because we are Americans. He will in his young leadership do as John Kennedy. He may not be able to deliver all the changes himself but, he will bring it about by his leadership and inspiration and message of hope. Yes, he knows the issues but, he also knows hope is what it is all about. He though about me in those debates last night, even mentioned me, my health care, education, middle class. "Yes"! - MindyB, on 09/27/2008, -1/+11You are right, McCain looked like a coward bully, unable to look his opponent in the eye!
Just like he did when he was up in his airplane dropping bombs on innocent Vietnamese villagers. - Berkana, on 09/27/2008, -0/+10McCain's facial expression was one of an embattled and bitter man full of contempt. That fake smile dripping with contempt that he had on his face the whole time was really disturbing. Between him and Obama, it's clear that Obama was acting more presidential.
- Berkana, on 09/27/2008, -0/+9The old bull has lost his balls and is full of ***** and hot air.
- algaeturd, on 09/27/2008, -0/+8This is brilliant logic and judgment. I have to say that. The problem is that sometimes in politics, you're dealing with the lowest common denominator in masses. Simpletons are easily swayed. In an educated, civil society, it wouldn't even be a close race. Obama would be up so high in the polls, he'd have a perpetual nosebleed. And you can base that solely on the fact that Palin is running as Veep.
As it stands, it's a neck and neck horse race because Americans seemed to have have tossed out reason and logic long ago in favor of stupidity and ignorance on the whole. Actually, I think it can be traced back to 2000 or so when they decided the 'best' leader would be another guy who reminded me of a crook and a liar with much to hide. The subsequent 8 years haven't done much to prove me wrong. - magus_melchior, on 09/27/2008, -0/+8Notice that he would snort in derision whenever Obama nailed him on something.
- Berkana, on 09/27/2008, -0/+6Yeah, but McCain can look into your eyes and see the name of your past employers!
- AverageJane2, on 09/27/2008, -0/+5"IE Note in the past the crooks tend to win more than the good guys do."
Because they lie and cheat and do every underhanded trick imaginable to win. The good guys end up losing because they aren't wired the same way -- which is why they are the good guys!
The only hope is if the majority of the voters start using their brains and see through the BS and recognize what's going on -- stop be manipulated and take back control. I do see that has happened more recently than in recent memory. I can't say if it will help though; the ignorance that is so widespread is breath taking. - spookyttws, on 09/28/2008, -0/+5At the very end of the debates, both Obama and McCain each walked up to their respective wives. Where McCain awkwardly gave her a side side hug as he forced smiled, Obama said "Hey you" (in a coy, flirtatious way) to Michelle then hugged her. It's just a little thing, but that's how my friends and I react to out loved ones. He just comes off as more real.
- aereaus, on 09/27/2008, -1/+5Digg that statement down...but....in an alternate universe he might be right. Very Scary!
Because America is not a Democracy. It is in fact a Republic. Run by very rich, very powerful families. Just like Rome was. American fore-fathers idolized Imperial Rome.
There is a saying..."Your get the leaders that you deserve".
- MindyB, on 09/27/2008, -1/+5Not if you vote he won't win! Volunteer your time for the Obama campaign; register people to vote, help people get to polls on election day.
The election still belongs to the American people, not the creeps behind the seedy scenes. It's up to all of us to make sure these idiots don't get a key to the White House.
Just look at McCain, a coward bully who has based his campaign on lies and deceptions. Look at his running mate who is as dumb as a door knob, and who clearly can't figure out how to get herself out of a paper bag!
You need to vote and make sure everyone you know votes as well, that is the only way was can keep these two incompetent crooks out of the White House.
Not yet registered to vote? get registered! Every campaign office has voter registration forms; every library has voter registration forms. get busy!
McCain/Palin?Thanks But No Thanks! - yojimbo911, on 09/28/2008, -0/+3McCain = DRAFT . . . mark my words.
- AnakSeria, on 09/27/2008, -1/+4I agree with MindyB.
Don't be scared.
Take charge and help make a difference.

You CAN help make a difference.
And you CAN help take this country in a new direction - magus_melchior, on 09/27/2008, -1/+4The patriots who established this country valued their rights and liberty more than their lives. We would be remiss if, in the great political crisis of this generation, value our lives as more precious than the freedoms they fought and died to protect.
Don't give in to fear. That's precisely what despots want from you. - inactive, on 09/27/2008, -1/+4Ron Paul!
- retzed, on 09/28/2008, -0/+2I agree. More than even America needs an inspirational leader. The coming recession is going to require someone with a clear direction. McCain's agenda is to continue the rut of war waging and corporate loyalty that has promoted hatred towards America and a broken Wall Street. I can think of no less apt pair than McCain/Palin to pull America through this.
- Nerys, on 09/27/2008, -5/+6Which is exactly why this is so scary. I feel McCain is going to win and RUIN this country. IE Note in the past the crooks tend to win more than the good guys do.
- magus_melchior, on 09/27/2008, -2/+1May I suggest a large chart of all the candidates, a blindfold, and a donkey tail pin?
- Ymeg, on 09/27/2008, -5/+4Digg needs a Huffington Post section...
or redirection. - inactive, on 09/27/2008, -6/+3Obama and McCain are essentially in agreement on the issues most important to corporate America. That's why they wouldn't let Ralph Nader debate these two corporate frauds. They would have been exposed for what they are.
- inactive, on 09/27/2008, -5/+1All running for office are filled with ***** quickly,
look at the political knot Palin's being tied in.
McCain is more likely then not, eager to gut
Washington, Obama NEVER will ! - NigerianHair, on 09/27/2008, -6/+0I saw the debate a short while back and I can't say I was impressed. McCain kept trying to prod voters' emotions while Obama kept touting aspirations, yet neither candidate had details. I'll give Obama points for disposition, but looking good isn't all there is to being president.
There are no good choices this election cycle. Not even in the third party realm. - inactive, on 09/27/2008, -18/+2The next president of United States of The Republic Of America will be Palin
- inactive, on 09/27/2008, -19/+2mebble,
I see it quite differently. I see an old bull Vs. young bull.
The old bull knows the young bull has not earned the herd !
