Republicans Face an Uphill Battle
nosocialism.com — While Republicans are doing everything they can to ease the Gas crisis, Democrats seem hell bent on keeping the status quo.

- Nosocialism, on 06/15/2008, -5/+17I guess everyone LOVES these gas prices.
Just keep on voting for Democrats! - IconoclastStill, on 06/15/2008, -5/+14The one thing jimmuh piddle-pants ever did correctly was to declare the arabs' attempt to destroy our economy "the moral equivalent of war" . . . but then, other than pass a few some token tax incentives and funding increases for alternative energy, he returned to his default white flag mode. The dhimmiCRAP approach hasn't much changed: grovel to the arabs, grovel to the enviro-Nazis and issue pious statements blaming the oil companies for their failure to conjure petrol from water and their perfidy in making an 8% ROI.
Getting something for nothing, the "right" to a free lunch, has been an article of faith for the dhimmiCRAPs, the cornerstone of their political philosophy and party platform, since 1932. It should be no surprise it has not changed since. - cashman57, on 06/15/2008, -6/+15The Democrats promised to do something about high gas prices if they were elected to the majority.
They kept their promise. They made them even higher. - Nosocialism, on 06/15/2008, -5/+16Good one Cashman! People keep saying this is Bush's fault but no one seems to realize that the BIGGEST jump in the Gas prices came AFTER the Democrats took over congress, and as you can see by the flurry of bills by the Democrats, not a SINGLE piece of legislation has come through to actually help reduce the price of Oil and Gas, instead they've done the exact opposite! They're talking about impeaching the President? THEY should be impeached! How much has this mess cost each and every one of us?
- Mswldflwr, on 06/15/2008, -2/+11Try telling that to a Democrat. I made that mistake and barely made it out alive.
- Nosocialism, on 06/15/2008, -1/+9Yes, it does seem like you have to be a Mind Numbed Robot to be a Democrat
- IconoclastStill, on 06/16/2008, -1/+7"seem" ‽ ‽ ‽
"SEEM" ‽ ‽ ‽ - Nosocialism, on 06/16/2008, -2/+2Seems... Hey I type at 80WPM, not always accurately though.
- Mswldflwr, on 06/16/2008, -1/+4He's not saying you typed it wrong -- he's saying "seem" is not the word -- they simply ARE
- IconoclastStill, on 06/16/2008, -1/+3The plural form of the verb "seem" is grammatically correct in this usage, amigo . . . it is, however, as Mswldflwr noted, the incorrect verb. ;-)

- inboxnews, on 06/15/2008, -5/+15Democrats solution to EVERYTHING is higher taxes.
- Nosocialism, on 06/15/2008, -4/+11True, somehow they feel that a "Windfall Profits" tax on the Oil companies will lower prices, but Jimmy Carter already tried that in the 70's and the only thing that happened was that Oil companies cut back on production to avoid paying the tax, and we ended up with huge lines at the Gas Stations. Now these same idiots want to revive that failed plan. It didn't work back then and it won't work today.
- unitedforchange, on 06/15/2008, -4/+4The solution to our oil addiction is to increase our research in green technologies, fuels, car building; create jobs here in the US for green tech rather than shipping them overseas; and decrease our dependence on foreign oil, thus foiling terrorists who attack oil refineries to get at us. That strategy is working. It's time we got our energy independence back.
- Nosocialism, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1That's a fine PLAN, but it's not a solution. NO is not a solution, when we have Oil, Shale and Coal that can be used RIGHT NOW to reduce our dependence on Foreign Oil, THAT is a solution. Diverting funds from going overseas to buy our own resources, THAT is a solution.
However, putting up roadblocks to get to resources that run our CURRENT infrastructure, that's just suicide.

- Nosocialism, on 06/16/2008, -2/+11Unitedforchange, what a lot of people don't realize is that right now, while it cost an average of 32K to convert a home to Solar Panels, that figure is actually about 400% lower than it was 6 years ago. Just like Computer Chips, Solar Panels, which are made from the same materials, have been doubling in efficiency every 2 years. Within 6 years or so every new home will be built with Solar Panels and will use a fourth of the electricity that current homes use. Within 8 to 12 years, people will be taking out second loans to buy ever shrinking Solar Panels because it will be cheaper than buying electricity from the Grid. Within about 20 years, Nano Engineered Fuel Cells will completely replace the internal combustion engine and all that will be needed to recharge them is a tiny Solar Panel on the roof of the car. Homes by this time will be completely energy independent using Solar Panels in combination with Fuel Cells to store the electricity for use at night. Just like Plasma TV's that went from costing $24,000 to $1,000.00, within less than 20 years the same will occur with Solar, and Government Regulations WON'T be required, people will just do it because it costs less than buying electricity from the outdated Grid. However, you know what, MASSIVE amounts of plastics will be needed to fill the Demand for these things, and currently the only technology that we have to make these plastics is to fabricate them from Oil. Feedstocks are made from Oil, Pesticides are made from Oil, Parafin Wax is made from Oil, literally tens of thousands of different products are made from Oil and Hundreds of thousands of items are made from Plastics which is made from Oil. While we may no longer be burning Oil for Fuel, we will STILL need oil for the foreseeable future and to just simply GIVE This money away to the Arabs who want to Kill us is the most IDIOTIC thing we can do!
No the companies who are developing these Technologies aren't going away, they have Trillions of Dollar Signs in their eyes, but it doesn't make a dammed bit of sense to put our middle class in the Poor house, and our Poor in the Outhouse, just to try to force the process to go faster. It won't, technology moves at it's own pace, and considering the fact that your computer has as much computing power as a SUPER computer did only 10 years ago, I'd say that technology is moving pretty darn fast as it is.- IconoclastStill, on 06/16/2008, -0/+6While your "tens of thousands of different products are made from Oil" comment obviously includes these, I wish to make specific note that all artificial rubber is manufactured from chemical feedstocks made from petroleum, as are some medicines. Natural latex is still used in an extraordinarily small number of applications, but it amounts to a single snowflake on the top of the iceberg.
- Nosocialism, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3My wife's a pharmacists, and it's not just some medicines it's a lot of medicines, there's either Petroleum products in the medicines itself, or they were used in the manufacturing process.
- IconoclastStill, on 06/16/2008, -0/+2OK - I knew petroleum was a player in this field, but I didn't realize it was the starting line. Thanks!

- gbudavid, on 06/16/2008, -0/+7How they gonna get us outta of our cars if they don't price us out of existence?
- Nosocialism, on 06/16/2008, -1/+7Keep in mind that most Liberals live in very large metropolitan areas. They don't realize that the vast majority of us don't live anywhere near public transportation. In their minds, we just need to get out of our cars, and use the Bus, Train, Trolley or Subway. Unfortunately, none of these are options for me, nor are they options for the vast majority of people that I know.
- IconoclastStill, on 06/16/2008, -0/+5Well, move into the utopian paradises of urban existence where the taxes are high, your Constitutional rights, particularly the 2nd Amendment, are illegally circumscribed and the nanny state can control, er, "care" for you. This way you can better support their constituency of illegals and welfare mommas while your voice will be drowned out.
- InRussetShadows, on 06/16/2008, -1/+2Now that is a worthy blog post, backed up by facts and stats. Congress is to blame for not being proactive, and because Congress during this time period was run by Democrats, the Democrats are to blame. This does not surprise me, as Democrats understand nothing about how a free market works.
- Nosocialism, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1Hey I try to not just "Make ***** up as I go along" hehehe
- kscitydude, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1"China is building Oil Drilling platforms just 50 or 60 Miles off the coast of Florida on the OCS (Outer Continental Shelf), in a partnership with Cuba. Using horizontal Drilling, they'll probably even be able to get to OUR RESERVES!"
You know that this is not true, don't you???
