- Dewhead, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Let me see if I have this right. Reid refuses to condemn a media site (moveon.org) for trashing a 4 star general that has devoted his life to protecting this country. Reid does however find it within himself to condemn a media site (Rush) for slamming a fake soldier Jessie McBeth who never even went to Iraq. Reid is a total moron.
- seanherman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You have it wrong. Reid opposed the legislation that targeted specifically the MoveOn.org ad, instead supporting Barbara Boxer's resolution that would condemn, instead, all attacks against our military personnel and veterans (including the MoveOn ad). For example, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth baseless attacks on Senator Kerry's military service or the ads attacking "a Senator from Georgia who is a Vietnam veteran, triple amputee, and the recipient of a Silver Star and Bronze Star, had his courage and patriotism attacked in an advertisement in which he was visually linked to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein."
All your precious republicans voted against that resolution.
In regards to Rush, in the original recording & transcript (which MediaMatters posted first) Jessie McBeth was never mentioned when Rush was discussing "phony soldiers." The edited recording, now available on Rush's website, now makes it sound like "phony" was in reference to McBeth. MediaMatters has the original transcript, which tells a very different story. - BookImDanno, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is what we pay for? Fire the inept clowns already!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4awwwwwwwwwwww......The Dopey liberal Democrats have nothing to talk about (except raising your taxes) so they invent a boogeyman just to have SOMETHING to talk about.
- seanherman, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2This exchange, considered alongside the General Betray Us spectacle, reminds me of a high school hallway slap fight. Each combatant at arms length, unwilling to commit to any real confrontation (or better yet, be the bigger man and walk away), hoping to embarrass their enemy with a devastating blow. Little does each fighter realize how absolutely ridiculous their fight looks to the rest of the high schoolers. I'd guess about 75% (give or take) of the students in this metaphor are either laughing, or lamenting the sorry state of hallway relations.
Again, this just reinforces why I support Obama.

"Sen. Obama takes a walk
IRAQ WAR | Won't vote on measure condemning attack on general
WASHINGTON -- White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) canceled his campaign schedule on Thursday in order to be in the Senate for votes. But he was one of only three senators -- of either party -- to take a walk and not vote yes or no on a GOP measure to condemn an ad Moveon.org ran in the New York Times against Gen. David Petraeus.
Obama said he did not vote because: "This amendment was a stunt designed only to score cheap political points while what we should be doing is focusing on the deadly serious challenge we face in Iraq.... By not casting a vote, I registered my protest against this empty politics. I registered my views on the ad itself the day it appeared." "
...
" Obama has a history going back to his days as a state senator of not voting or voting "present" when it comes to measures he considers designed specifically to produce a vote record that can be attacked."
Obama, you rule.
