- GoKings, on 05/16/2009, -5/+204Wow he even sounds like him... It's like Ron Paul from the past.

"It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." — Samuel Adams - TruthisTreason, on 05/16/2009, -23/+119Sure, Rand gets attention because he is Dr. Paul's son; we know that. Now, besides that, what Dr. Rand Paul is saying resonates with those of us who believe in economic and personal liberties. And that can't be ridiculed and mediasized! Proud to say I've donated, and will donate more!
- V3n0M, on 05/16/2009, -9/+94What about a guy with a last name first and a first name last?
- ryndemers, on 05/16/2009, -23/+106We need more people like Ron Paul in this world...
- mah2cent, on 05/16/2009, -24/+103So, lets sum up, shall we? Ron Paul has voted against every tax increase, bailout and war. That includes the war on drugs. So, all of you drug users out there that want the right to use without imprisonment, should be supporting him. All of you that think we should get out of Iraq, Afghanistan, avoid intervention in Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, etc. raise your hand. I am not talking about Obama's failed promises, but the real thing. How about interference with the free market. Here, we will have a problem because all of you socialists think that Krugman and company are gods that can do no wrong. That consumption leads to a better economy, right? Just think for a moment, how much consumption can you do without first producing something? Fact: you do not receive a paycheck unless and until you produce something of value (unless your are a politician or on the dole). Once you produce something of value, then you can consume something of equal or less value (again discounting using credit to pay for your groceries). So, the order of things is: 1st produce, 2nd get paid, 3rd consume. No other order works (previous exceptions noted). So Krugman and company are full of *****. The economy is on the brink of complete collapse due to the attempts of the Fed to inflate us out of another inflation boom/bust. That's right, the Fed is to blame, not the free market, because we DO NOT HAVE A FREE MARKET AND HAVE NOT HAD A FREE MARKET SINCE THE CREATION OF THE FED AND THE IMPOSITION OF THE INCOME TAX IN 1913. And since that time your dollar as declined in value to about 3 cents. That is the result of the Feds actions. The so-called free market is presently burdened with over 80000 pages of regulation as contained in the federal register. You are free to check this for your selves.
The point is: Ron Paul is the only real hope for real change this country has.
To restore the American economy to any kind of real growth requires the elimination of the FED the IRS, FTC, FDA, (in fact all the ABC agencies). We need to get the government out of the economy, stop counterfeiting the currency, stop the legalized theft of the citizen's wealth (taxes and inflated currency) and all government intervention in the private lives of the citizens. What does government have to do with marriage, divorce, smoking, drinking, prostitution, etc? - inactive, on 05/16/2009, -43/+117Never trust a man with two first names.
- InorganicMatter, on 05/16/2009, -25/+94Ron/Rand 2012!!!
- ltethe, on 05/16/2009, -14/+83I can digg it.
- StormCommander, on 05/16/2009, -4/+52it was a joke, calm down
- evilesttoast, on 05/16/2009, -9/+55I actually live in Kentucky and will be voting for him.
- rmxz, on 05/16/2009, -2/+44Experience counts - but not always in a positive way.
Dick Cheney was experienced (white house chief of staff for Ford in the late 70's, then house minority whip, etc). Don Rumsfeld was experienced (white house chief of staff for Ford in the mid 70's, then Sec of Defense).
There's a lot to be said for bringing in fresh ideas rather than another old guy so entrenched in last centuries politics that he hasn't yet noticed that the cold war ended. - MWeather, on 05/16/2009, -4/+45Keep voting for the popular candidates, you'll get the government you deserve.
- somedudemanguy, on 05/16/2009, -8/+47woah i really like this guy
- StormCommander, on 05/16/2009, -16/+53Imagine if all his 5 children and 18 grandchildren ran for Congress!
- teichenauer, on 05/15/2009, -20/+55Ron Paul and the ideas he supports have prevailed in all of Ron Paul's campaigns for Congress. Ron Paul believes in peace, commerce and honest friendship. He opposes overseas occupations and bloated government spending. No son is a clone of his father. Rand Paul seems to have learned plenty from his father. I have met very few people who disagree with Ron Paul's positions.
Perhaps if NoLibertarians has a disagreement on a position he can lay it out.
http://www.google.com/search?q=Rand+Paul - akula89, on 05/16/2009, -4/+38his name is "Randall"
- billricardi, on 05/16/2009, -11/+42Learn to use paragraphs. It doesn't matter how appealing your message is, if it looks like a solid block of text with no hint of organization, nobody is going to read it.
- inactive, on 05/16/2009, -4/+34That is hillarious they sound almost completely alike.
- Hazardc, on 05/16/2009, -4/+34As long as it's done by the private sector without government funding!
- heythere1857, on 05/16/2009, -7/+35Dude.
That would be awesome. Could you imagine having TWO of them in the White House? - staticfire, on 05/16/2009, -6/+34Republicans, Ron Paul supporters are the only intelligent semi-Republican individuals left in your ***** sorry pathetic excuse for a party. Do you really want to scare all of them away?
I just cannot fathom what is so "insane" about Ron Paul that makes people put him on the level of the right wing nut jobs and christian wackos cause I hate those people and I support Ron Paul.
I generally find that people who do not support him don't really understand his positions on the issues, especially states rights.
I swear if I see one more liberal go "OMFG HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT HIM HES AGAINST ABORTION!!!" I sware I will kill you. He is personally morally against it, however he does not believe it is for the federal government to decide.
States Rights. I know its a confusing concepts retards but you need to learn. - faskippy, on 05/16/2009, -9/+36I'd say his chances of victory are a hell of a lot better than your chances of making an intelligent statement.
- StormCommander, on 05/16/2009, -5/+29Um.... he was one of the few 2008 presidential candidates to say that government shouldn't regulate marriage.
Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJz81lAwY0M
Make sure you know about the topic before you talk about it. - thecoolestguy, on 05/16/2009, -8/+30We need more intelligent doctors who worked for $3 an hour in the emergency room of a church hospital. We need fewer partisan morons who think government taxation/programs will save them.
- MWeather, on 05/16/2009, -3/+25It sure beats California or New York, though. I actually knew my neighbors in Kentucky. They came over with cookies.
- twoblink, on 05/16/2009, -12/+33Parent of the year.. Ron Paul.
- rmxz, on 05/16/2009, -17/+37My big concern is that we've got this whole slew of politicians who's main selling point is that they're related to some former politician.
Bush #2. Clinton #2. Kennedy #3,#4,#5, etc.
If candidates were picked entirely on their merits, doesn't this seem too much of a coincidence?
Or is this just a hereditary monarchy in disguise? - iletumi, on 05/16/2009, -2/+20The beer is okay as well.
- Protonz, on 05/16/2009, -7/+25How do you define successful?
You support putting a gun to my head to put innocent drug users in prison. I morally object to wars in the middle east, but you are forcing me to participate in it with the threat of death.
A violent society is not what I would call a success.
I can imagine black slave owners told the slaves they were better off with someone taking care of them, and that they would starve without their owners. Some of us want to be free and take that risk, some do not I suppose.
You can't see a libertarian society yet, we haven't advanced that far yet. You can see that we have evolved beyond theocratic societies (although seem to be slowly de-evolving :( ). - StormCommander, on 05/16/2009, -8/+26Rand is short for Randall.
- thecoolestguy, on 05/16/2009, -11/+28Yeah what would someone who's completed medical school know about science!
- FrozenPie, on 05/16/2009, -3/+20Kentuckian here, I actually had dinner with Dr. Rand Paul when he was speaking at UK. Very funny and laid back guy when you meet him.
- GhostInAShell, on 05/16/2009, -4/+21What was silent in the father speaks in the son, and often I found in the son the unveiled secret of the father. ~Friedrich Nietzsche
- evilesttoast, on 05/16/2009, -2/+19Kentucky is actually a great state. People are extremely friendly here, we have some of the least restrictive gun control laws in the nation, but we aren't as backwards ass as Tennessee or West Virginia. We also have Lexington and Louisville which aren't massive cities, but just big enough and some great college teams. We also don't get natural disasters really. Yay Kentucky.
- thecoolestguy, on 05/16/2009, -6/+23The Asian tigers: Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, developed under a policy of very little social spending (small welfare system, little government spending on health care).
Their economies grew faster, and their standard of living rose more quickly, than any countries in the world.
Hong Kong and Singapore are Number 1 and 2 in economic freedom rankings. Their government spending levels as a percentage of GDP are the lowest in the developed world, less than half that of the US.
The government of Singapore spends less than a quarter what US does on health care per capita.
Hong Kong and Singapore have some of the highest life expectancy figures in the world, nearly 4 years higher than the US, and higher than any major western nation. Their economic growth and wages have risen more quickly in the last 30 years than almost any nation in the world.
Both countries were destitute third world economies post-WW2.
Responsible government, and little-to-no welfare leads to rapid economic development.
That is how Europe and North America became great. - Hazardc, on 05/16/2009, -17/+33Um, Ron Paul has some great ideas, but I don't think letting his entire family control the government is exactly a great idea.
- stinkybinky, on 05/16/2009, -3/+19sure, experience counts for a lot. but at the base of that must be a person of sound moral character. this seems to be the case. once we can be sure of his genuine concern and unfaltering sense of public duty to the people, i say the experience issue takes a back seat. experience is only gained through time. and i would much rather give him the time to grow into his experience with said sound moral character than say... sarah palin... or... GW... or... cheney... or... pelosi. when your motives are suspect, your experience isn't worth *****.
- Beson669, on 05/16/2009, -3/+19Proud to say Dr. Rand Paul is my eye doctor :-) He is a very intelligent man
- SpykerSpeed, on 05/16/2009, -15/+30Libertarians are such a sad group. If you honestly expect anyone to vote for a candidate who isn't promising free rainbows and ice cream for all Americans, you've got another thing coming.
- SamSks, on 05/16/2009, -2/+17You sir are absolutely correct. Name recognition works wonders in this country!
Just look at the celebrities who have become politicians:
Gofer from Love Boat
Jesse Ventura
Sony Bono
That guy who was the admiral in The Hunt for Red October
Shirley Temple was a congresswoman.
Kemp was a quarter back for some football team
Ronald Regan - The Gipper
Arnold - The Terminator
There's more that I can't remember off of the top of my head - ammundsen, on 05/16/2009, -4/+18Sweden is in many ways freer than the US. Conservatives have been holding up Sweden as a socialist model to be avoided. The truth is the US is far more socialist/fascist than many of the countries Republicans get elected to not emulate. If the US were to implement some Swedish ideas we would be moving in a more libertarian direction.
The US's greatest period of growth took place at a time when we were more libertarian. A study of our past economy, and other historical economies, will reveal that capitalist forces were able to handle many of the problems for which government now claims to be required.
The bottom line from a longevity standpoint US economic regulations and its social welfare system are crippling it. We are living off of our past success. We are like 3rd generation rich. We seem to be on top of the world, but our downfall will be quick and painful. - fuzzynyanko, on 05/16/2009, -4/+18That's been one of the best analysis of what's happening to the Republican party I have heard. So far, the party looks like a bunch of "Old White Dudes", probably thanks to Limbaugh
- had3l, on 05/16/2009, -5/+19Ron Paul went nowhere?
I seriously disagree. Just the fact that we are debating him right now proves that. - DThatsMe, on 05/16/2009, -2/+16Kinda like team Ram-Rod?
- heythere1857, on 05/16/2009, -2/+15I think it's just more name recognition than anything else.
I remember in poly sci 101 my teacher talked about studies that have shown even if people know absolutely nothing about a candidate, if they recognize the name (even from something a vague as a sign on the street) they will vote for that candidate. - flashcat7777, on 05/16/2009, -13/+26He could win... go ahead and jizz yourself.
