- soarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Druids worshiped their fir trees during the Winter Solstice, so that's where we get the "Christmas Tree" from. (Jesus certainly didn't have one - fir trees didn't exist in his country)
I am glad someone is talking about this, because I find it quite sad and also funny that Jesus has been pushed so far out of what was supposedly his "holy day".
Let someone talk about THAT the next time the "War on Christmas" comes up. Great Article.
Also:
The "Easter Bunny laying Eggs" is another pagan holiday for the beginning of the planting season -- bunnies are fertility symbols because they have lots of sex and babies, and so are eggs -- neither are Christian symbols and have nothing to do with Jesus, but they are what people think about when they think about Easter.
