Many uninsured people and mothers with children who didn't have health insurance would come to the ER - for colds, flu. Each ER visit can cost hundreds of dollars (at the very least).

You only have $4000, so George says to you: "EVERY responsible family should have at LEAST $100,000 saved for emergencies."
Some people just don't have that kinda money, man. I know I don't. Honestly, I won't have anywhere near $4000 in my bank account, including savings, come payday this Friday. the only time you have to "wait" for anything in Canada is if it isn't life-threatening... and this is no different (in fact it's better) than ALL healthcare in the USA (I had to wait hours to get stitches to my wrist which was bleeding A LOT, all I got was more stuff to hold against it).
you NEVER have to wait for emergency service (such as stitches) in Canada any longer than it takes to get into the hospital. this is FUD.
