- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -15/+217My gawd this man is clueless.
Go to the emergency room for a 102 fever,
get a prescription, and an IV drip for 1 hour
cost =4000$ (thats accurate BTW)
Tell me what middle class family has a spare 4 grand? - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -7/+206i've never understood why people see him as a man of the people or average joe. is it because of his below average intellect, disdain for reading and facts, or his inability to speak? he grew up so filthy rich he has no idea of the reality most people have to live in. he talks about the importance of the sacrifices our troops are making to "spread freedom" but has never served in combat. when a women told him how she had to work 3 jobs, he thought that was wonderful and "uniquely american". he won the hearts of southerners with his souther drawl and cowboy talk despite being born in CT with a silver spoon in his mouth.
- insomniac8400, on 10/10/2007, -16/+193Lets oppose ordered and efficient socialized medicine and instead support the chaotic abuse of emergency rooms that we all will end up paying for anyways.
- chicoer2001, on 10/10/2007, -7/+144You can go to the emergency room. Remember to send the bill to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500.
- schlurp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+94seriously, Bush is a 60 year old spoiled brat who sucked at every single thing he did in his life and was bailed out by his rich, influential family and their friends every single time.
People are making fun of Schwarzenegger, who actually came from nowhere to become one of the most successful people on the planet in the 3 completely separate things he tried all on his own, but rich kid Bush who achieved less on his own in all his life than your average 16year old McDonalds worker has been celebrated for years by half the country. - dumuzi, on 10/10/2007, -10/+69his daddy should have used a condom.
- ZennZero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+59I guess we are lucky we aren't in the middle of a food shortage. I suspect his suggestion would be "Let them eat cake!"
- bowens44, on 10/10/2007, -5/+58Just another example of the 'I've got mine , the hell with you' attitude of the modern conservative. Selfishness and greed are their core values.
- SeaMowse, on 10/10/2007, -2/+50Having uninsured people go to the ER is what drives up the cost of health insurance. Believe me, I know - I used to work for a health insurance company. Many uninsured people and mothers with children who didn't have health insurance would come to the ER - for colds, flu. Each ER visit can cost hundreds of dollars (at the very least).
- Rapter09, on 10/10/2007, -7/+50Every responsible middle class family should have $4000 saved?
Oh, so the poor really don't ***** matter at all, then, right? Not just the poor, the in-between-poor. Still-getting-by-but-still-broke folks. Myself included in that. They don't really matter at all. Let's just throw em' to the dogs and let em die of their wounds.
Wow that's impressive.
Let's spin this another way: Your leg is broken. You need to go to the Emergency Room. It's going to cost $100,000. George Bush can get it fixed because he has the money, but you can't. You only have $4000, so George says to you: "EVERY responsible family should have at LEAST $100,000 saved for emergencies."
Some people just don't have that kinda money, man. I know I don't. Honestly, I won't have anywhere near $4000 in my bank account, including savings, come payday this Friday. It's just enough to get by on bills and World of Warcraft :P. - x2wenty4x, on 10/10/2007, -5/+45what a dumbass. the ER is more expensive than a regular doctor.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+49Yup you are a clueless *****.
- jamesallen74, on 10/10/2007, -3/+42Has Bush ever spent a day with a lower-middle income single mom with sick kids? I would love to REQUIRE that all politicians spend a WEEK (on THEIR expense) with poor and lower-middle income families. Show them the REALITY of life in the REAL WORLD. Show them that helping corporations doesn't = trickled down economics. Bush=idiot
- tamahagane, on 10/10/2007, -0/+38"After all, you just go to an emergency room." was followed by applause from all the other morons in the room.
- BobOrleans, on 10/10/2007, -14/+46What middle class family has a space 4 grand? One that supports the troops and loves the taste of freedom. You're either with us or without us. Pick a side sir we're at war.
- nepawoods, on 10/10/2007, -5/+36I think you missed the point that somebody is going to be paying for it, and paying an awful lot.
- kprooney, on 10/10/2007, -9/+38Mr. Bush there is never a time in your life when you're going to want and not get something. Oh yea just send 3 MILLION KIDS to the over crowded emergency rooms. Or even better lets turn Bush's ranch into an emergency room and THEN maybe we can get all this kids help.
oh for those you blame the middle class on this, you were dugg down because it's no A CHILD'S FAULT IF HE'S POOR YOU NITWIT - Bhima, on 10/10/2007, -6/+31Actually no it is not. It's exactly correct.
- Dynamosa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24And then pay for it by robbing the Black Knight of his sword - use the sword on the Red Dragon and claim the treasure that he guards deep within the earth's crust!
Bush loves fantasyland. - dalexandruz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23this is how the rich think. it's okay to piss away 5 trillion on the rich and than again piss away 1.2 trillion on iraq war but not okay to spend a measly 6billion for 10 million+ kids. this country has always about me me me self interest and let the working class suffer.
- dattaway, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23I can safely predict there's going to be no outrage from the media over this. Nothing to see. Move along.
- rhabd0mancer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25They may treat you, but they may also send you to collections if you can't pay the bill.
- RiverBelow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Well I'm Canadian and I couldn't be happier with the healthcare, the taxes are increased, but its much better and virtually pays for itself if you get sick once. I wouldn't dare move into the states at this point in time, the thought of getting ill and having to pay $30,000 for nothing, its just ludicrous. I love Canada.
- Tobark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Yes (Serious answer)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+24There is no hope for us, we are so ***** screwed
- MasteRR, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22How can you save $4000 when you are living paycheck-to-paycheck just to pay rent and buy food?
- ozzyman, on 10/10/2007, -9/+27Reminds me of this quote from history "Why don't they eat cake"
- iDragonFly, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21Unfortunately, many middle class Americans no longer have a job - thanks to outsourcing.
But then, I guess that's their fault, and this so called 'nanny state' should abandon the poor while continuing to pay out huge subsidies (polished word for welfare) to large corporation. - scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Is Bush even paying for his bowel exam?
- hangtown2004, on 10/10/2007, -10/+27***** that *****, IMPEACH HIS ***** ASS !!
- Dpack1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Yeah, i'm here in England and i'd rather wait inline for a day or so and get fixed up for free instead of having to take out a second mortgage topay for an ambulance ride and xray.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Yep, gotta make sure those kids are born, after that they're on their own tho.
***** typical. - MasteRR, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16You assume this is someone who doesn't already work his ass off. Don't be a clueless *****. In a household of 4 people who all have full time jobs, some of which work many hours overtime, we can still barely afford to get by and have nothing left to save. There is something wrong.
Why should someone be forced to work more than an 80 hr/wk fulltime job and still not be able to get by? - trghpy, on 10/10/2007, -6/+20If you are speechless, then you should also be postless.
- ribbleninja, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16The president needs be impeached immediately. I'm ashamed to be an American.
- iDragonFly, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Emergency rooms may not be able to turn you away, but they can make you wait until you give up or expire (whichever occurs first).
- InfiniteNothing, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I know of a lady who couldn't get the treatment (rejected by the insurance company) who lost her leg and now has to walk around with a wooden peg. Anecdotal is fun.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Great job of missing the point. Congratulations.
- iDragonFly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Bush is just a sock-puppet.
I'd like to know who's really behind that statement. - cryptomystic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13are these people lobotomized?
- bdurkin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14No we have the 2008 elections...wait, no your right.
- elsupergringo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13He didn't say socialized medicine was without cost. He suggested, as in the article, that we all end up paying MORE when people abuse Emergency Rooms (as Bush suggests we do). Please read the article AND the comment thoroughly next time.
- nicko68, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12And I know a woman here in Canada (my wife) who needed an MRI and got it in a WEEK.
- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12He likes to clear brush, so that must mean he's an average guy. (sarcasm)
- Gaki, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Have you ever worked a big company? Every bit as disorganized and inefficient as any government agency.
- rhabd0mancer, on 10/10/2007, -10/+22Well, he's a loony christian.
That might have something to do with it. - reed311, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14I have access to buy a mercedes, but I can't afford one. Having access and being able to afford something are COMPLETELY different things.
- Timetheos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I have several friends from Canada and Australia. They've worked in the US. They've gone back to their respective countries. They've told me:
1) We in the US are being ripped-off
2) They prefer the systems in their countries - asaturn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12got anything to back this up?
the only time you have to "wait" for anything in Canada is if it isn't life-threatening... and this is no different (in fact it's better) than ALL healthcare in the USA (I had to wait hours to get stitches to my wrist which was bleeding A LOT, all I got was more stuff to hold against it).
you NEVER have to wait for emergency service (such as stitches) in Canada any longer than it takes to get into the hospital. this is FUD.
and don't tell me England is worse... the government there pays for BREAST IMPLANTS! so you're trying to tell me they deny actual required care to people based on age? give me a break! - MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Bush allowed mentally retarded people to be executed while he was Governor of Texas. If they aren't allowed off the hook, then neither is he.
